@The Sage, Mid 1900s. 1945 to 1949 although it's widely accepted as having occurred in 47. Also, engineering problems were called bugs before this occurrence, including the newly formed computer engineering. Although it was the first actual 'bug' in a computer, that really involved a bug. Had to pull out an old textbook. Also the woman that found it (Grace Hopper) was an amazing programmer, if you write in COBOL or pretty much any modern programming language, she is partially to thank. Though you still get a thumb, cause that's what most people read out of that anyhow.
