I’ve literally smacked a bottle of ketchup away from someone who was about to ruin the 22oz ribeye I just grilled to perfection. They thanked me later after the bruises had healed.

@theshadosnipe, I’ve been known to use A1 and BBQ sauce on cheaper, poorly cooked steaks however, the way I prep, season, and grill them, adding sauce simply overpowers the flavors and defeats the purpose.

So confesión time, i was made a bet that I couldn’t convince a rich man to put ketchup on a steak, guess who won a soul to eat ?!?
I use steak sauce like A1 on some steaks. Ketchup overpowers the flavor of steak. If I'm eating steak, I only use ketchup if I am having french fries as a side dish.
But I enjoy ketchup on my $250 a plate Japanese A5 Wagyu steak from Anderson’s Steakhouse.

Ketchup saved me from my mother's attempts at steak. She somehow managed to bake a filet mignon so well done that it was practically unchewable. And this was made at least once a month for my entire childhood.

@ThePandaPool , red hot should be fine, as it's slightly fancier than ketchup due to not being ketchup. But the question is, did you put it on before or after cooking the meat?
@Marida Cruz, after, for multiple reasons. It's too thin to stick, and red hot changes flavor after getting too hot and it's not pleasant.

I will, out of respect, eat the first bite out of any steak I have without sauce or addons. But unless that steak is in the top tenth of a percent of delicious and moist, I’m eating the rest of it how I want and anyone who doesn’t shut the fück up about it is getting hit in the face with a ketchup bottle.
When it comes to steak either the meat is good or it’s not if it is just a little salt is all u need if it’s not no matter what u put on it it’s not gonna make it any better
