Book 4: Air
It’s perfect, all I’m saying is I wish that we get a show of similar writing quality for kids of the next generation, ATLA changed my life as a kid and it’s sad that others won’t even get that experience, pretty much all the kids shows I’ve seen recently all look made to just sell toys… I hope I’m wrong
@Dave E Strider, The vast majority of children’s programs, new and old, good and bad, have all been to sell toys.
Most cartoons aren’t profitable. Without toy sales they don’t get made. There’s nothing wrong with selling toys.
But yeah, modern stuff is trash. The benefit, though, is that ATLA still exists. Introduce it to the newer generations and they can enjoy it like we did.
Hell, I recently introduced my parents to ATLA and they loved it.
@I Are Lebo, And a problem with a lot of them is that they have pop culture references and become outdated. ATLA has none(?) and so can seamlessly transition over time except that it's 16:9 but can't win them all.
@I Are Lebo, I introduced my parents into alta and THEY LOVED IT TOO
@18bluecat, good stories are timeless.
Lazy writers use pop culture references because they’re easy. Popcorn flicks rarely have any longevity.
It’s just the way it is.
@I Are Lebo, “modern stuff is trash”
*laughs in Infinity Train, Amphibia, The Dragon Prince, The Owl House, and more*
Good stuff VERY much still exists. In fact, I’d say children’s media is better than it was in the past: we’ve just gotten old and cynical
@Baileyjrob, the only one you mentioned there that I’ve seen is Dragon Prince, which was okay.
There’s exceptions to every rule, but the vast majority of modern shows suffer either from an injection of political correctness, or lazy writing, or both.
And the rare ones of quality typically get canceled after one season.
@I Are Lebo, ATLA is not perfection; the ending was rushed, and they had to skip over ending development.
@Child Slapper, the frak are you talking about? The ending to Avatar: the Last Airbender was fantastic. It wasn’t rushed at all. That final fight between Aang and Ozai? The airship assault? Zuko vs Azula?
Did you even watch the end of the show?
Sometimes I’m on your side, this isn’t one of those times.
You're god damn right
Just finished rewatching it and am almost done with book of korra. Netflix has skip intro so easy watching
