Does Ancestry and 23andme actually work?
@MrWonka, it does, but I recommend the test given by national geographic if you want as much history as possible from the 200,000 years of human existence. 23andme is more for learning what types of genetic disorders you can expect
@MrWonka, Those sites typically have an accurate record system that they use to find out where your roots are from but it's mostly a an estimate from your biology and has nothing to do with your cultural customs.
@MrWonka, I wouldn't use 23andMe. Recently they've been under fire for selling the information they gathered to insurance companies. You see, those tests can tell you the possibility of what genetic diseases your family may have so insurance companies are using that to raise their clients rates. I for one am already prepping a specialized room in hell for whoever thought and agreed to that blatant mistrust of thier customer's privacy...
@I Am Captain Obvious, what is the national geographic one called?
@Good Guy Satan, That's a good reason to not use it. I just didn't want to willingly hand my DNA over to some big company under the guise of them telling me about my heritage when they're probably just cataloging it somewhere and that kinda scares me.
@ TouchMyCatEars, Ikr. It sounds like the plotline to a Black Mirror episode
@Good Guy Satan, I heard that show is good but I haven't watched it yet. Have you?
@ TouchMyCatEars, Black mirror is amazing. Check it out! And kinda ignore the first episode, maybe. And also prepare to be deeply frightened. (Each episode is a standalone episode, so you can kinda start wherever you want)
@ TouchMyCatEars, Its very dark but very good. I definitely recommend it as a modern Twilight Zone
@Good Guy Satan, make it so they show up with a disease/disability, die from it, then respawn with another one, never adapting to them, forever
@Good Guy Satan, I really wish someone dragged all insurance company execs and owners and shot them.
Drake would have been on Hitler's side for the first half of the war.
Dana got a time out and had to go stand in the corner
Or it's March 17th
My dad has traced his families roots all the way back to the triple digits. I'm apparently descended from Irish royalty
