Honestly I really hate how this whole election has been about America being awful because you know what? America is pretty damn amazing. Sure we have some problems and things we need to work on but all in all, we are great. I'm proud to be American, because if I wasn't I couldn't say... 'Murica.
@Charlemagne, I think everyone says that, unfortunately, American or not.
@CynicalSir, Very cynical of you
@Charlemagne, it's not that America is awful, it's that it's going to be awful for the next 4 years
@Death of the Mailman, we don't know that. Many times presidents are different in office than they were on the campaign.
@Charlemagne, Yeah, we're great alright *gets guns taken away*
@Charlemagne, that is what I keep telling people.. I mean look around we are not perfect but our country could always be worse. We really are lucky.
@4Chan Ambassador , sorry I can't hear you behind my registered ar-15
@Charlemagne, are you being serious or sarcastic? You realize there is not a firearms regestry at least if you live in a state that's not New York and Comifornia.
@Charlemagne, as bad as we may be we are still a shining beacon of freedom and democracy to the rest of the world.
@Kliment Voroshilov, yeah sarcastic. I just think it's ridiculous when people whine there's guns are taken away when they arent/haven't been
@Charlemagne, well they haven't been taken away yet but I see something to that effect on the horizon if the political climate in this country doesn't change drastically.
@Kliment Voroshilov, I dont. There's been nothing to that affect in the last 8 years of our democratic president so if we have another 4 I don't see anything passing especially with a Republican controlled congress. Don't get me wrong, I'm pro 2nd amendment, I just don't think anything dramatic like that may happen. There may be a thing where you have to register your guns in which case I'm in favor of that (don't see why not). But I don't see them getting taken away happening anytime soon
@Charlemagne, couldn't have said it better myself. People don't seem to realize how bad it is in other parts of the world. Things might get a little less convenient or people might not agree with everything that happens but America is so much better than most every other country
@Charlemagne, you are correct that nothing major has happened in the past 8 years but we also didn't have anyone openly advocating confiscation a.la Australian buy back.
Secondly registration doesn't do anything beyond make it easier for the government to confiscate firearms if they ever should decide to do so.
@Kliment Voroshilov, As I said I'd be against a confiscation. Registration makes it so if a gun is at a scene of a crime then they can identify who it belongs to and even if the criminal stole it maybe the robbed knows something about the criminal. And no not every criminal will file off the registration number haha
@Charlemagne, There is already a way for law enforcement to trace guns related to crime. Granted the process takes a little longer but it is in place withought the government having unfettered acces to who owns what.
It is the responsibility of the owner to report that a firearm is stolen. In many states I belive it's a felony to not report the theft of a gun. Once the theft is reported the victim gives any information as well as the serial so that the firearm can be identified if it tuns up.
@Charlemagne, have you seen your country? Sorry but from out here, youre just meh, or awful. But youre very fun to visit. Thanks for New York and Disneyland/World
@Orlandude, The international view of America has always been awful because of our foreign policy. Also only tragedies make it out of the states, not any good news as that doesn't get views. America is a fùcking fine country
@Orlandude, so thousands if not millions of people have flocked to America for years because we are just meh?
@Charlemagne, what is wrong with our foreign policy? We send aid all over the world in a number of cases to places that simply squander it and we provide security for ourselves and our allies.
@Kliment Voroshilov, for visiting though. Im not gonna lie, I do love visiting america, disneyland itself is my favourite place in the world. But I would never dream of living anywhere in america. People visiting a country doesnt mean its good, and I can give an example, Im from brazil and have moved from there and as a born and raised Brazillian I can say that it such an awful country and I hate pretty much everything about it, but it is a very popular place for tourists because I have to admit it is a very pretty country, but apart from that and the food, Brazil is just a cesspool of awful.
@Kliment Voroshilov, oh I wasn't saying it's bad. I like it tbh. It's just that a lot of foreign places focus on our foreign policy in such places as Iraq and Afghanistan (which weren't even too bad policy wise) and other places media will manipulate it so instead of "X liberated Fallujjah" they'll say "12 citizens died in Fallujjah" . I'm very pro-american and pro foreign involvement. As the world's super power it's sort of our duty to protect and support weaker nations
@Charlemagne, America sucks, would only live there if there was a burger king and a starbucks nearby.
@Orlandude, They aren't coming here just to visit they come to make a better life for themselves.
Can you give me some of your reasoning specifically about why you wouldn't want to live here?
@Charlemagne, poor deluded man
@Kliment Voroshilov, well I would have to buy health insurance rather than be treated for free, the police are widely armed and are infamously trigger happy meaning I would feel unsafe around police, gun crime is more prevalent in the US than other western countries and you are vehemently against keeping up with the rest of the developed world on that front, I would not be able to buy alcohol for another year when I can do so already back home and that would suck.
@LeafOnTheW1nd, Your not treated for free though you pay for it through your taxes and for a person of similar income you are probably paying more than you would in the US
The reason that the US has apparently a higher rate of gun crime is thanks to the large number of gang violence that takes place in the urban centers. If you remove the 4 largest cities from the calculation of the statistic the US drops to 28th in gun violence.
I agree with you rhat the police are as you say "trigger happy" but the solution is not to disarm the police.
If by "keeping up with the rest of the world" you mean surendering our freedom to defend ourselves to the government that is corrupt and has no responsibility to protect you I don't want to be keeping up.
I do agree with you on the alcohol thing though the drinking age here is a little ridiculous.
@Orlandude, I agree with you, I've been to Hawaii, Texas, Florida, New York, Graceland, Universal Studio, Disney and others, it's fun to visit but I don't want to live anywhere in the US at all.
@Ralph Problem, Why?
@Kliment Voroshilov, I think you'll agree to say it's really hard to argue with someone who isn't born in the same reality than yours
@Ralph Problem, just because our experience us diffrent doesn't mean that we can't make worthwhile arguments.
If your reasoning is that you just like your home country more that's fine but I find that there is often some political reasoning that often doesn't hold up to examination.
@Kliment Voroshilov, Every country has their problem, mine isn't perfect either , but there are some in the US I can't live with
@Ralph Problem, I feel as though you are dodging the question. What problems does the US have that you couldn't live with?
@Kliment Voroshilov, Some exemples, the guns, the politics, the religion, the non-existant free speech, the racism, the money and power addiction, your secret and conspiracy, the NSA/FBI/CIA and others. And you guys love yourself so much.... If I was stating this stuff in my previous comment, it's because for many US citizens, what I just said is normal, it is your reality, but from then outside you look so ridiculous...
@Ralph Problem, I agree that politics have become ridiculous as well as a number of other points that you made but there are some that I can't let stand.
I don't know exactly where your from but to say that free speech is nonexistent is hypocritical. Recently someone was arrested in the UK because they were singing Kung foo fighting in a karaoke bar. Also the EU code of ethics is essentially an outline of what they deem to be acceptable speech with the aim of censoring people who speak in a way they find offensive.
As I have said before the guns are not a problem. There are millions of law abiding gun owners who have never and will never do any harm. The majority of the gun crime is gang violence that would not stop if the people were disarmed.
You don't have to participate in the religion I don't understand how that's a problem.
I ran out of characters so there will be a part 2
@Ralph Problem, part 2:
What do you mean by racism? Because if you mean that we don't want people to come here illegally or that we don't want to accept refugees out of the middle east that there is no way to be sure about their identity then you need to reconsider your definition of racism.
@Kliment Voroshilov, I'm from Canada, and here if I say that I'm voting for someone others will respect my choice, and might want to argue calmly. In the US if I say I'm voting Trump, thousand of people will want to burn my house down, if I say I'm "voting for her", the same things happen, people's will throws rocks at me, that's one example of your free speeches
@Kliment Voroshilov, the gun isn't a problem? Why the hell do you give guns to everyone? The US need one spark and everyone can kill each other, I don't want any trigger happy moron in my neighbourhood, here's its not a problem, nobody have guns, I'm not scared from anyone since they can't start a mass shooting at anytime. 400+ shooting only this year in the US, Canada has like 20 shooting the last decades
@Kliment Voroshilov, For the racism, i'll just reply with BLM as an example
@Kliment Voroshilov, My country help others to get a better lifestyle, the USA doesn't help anyone if there's no money or power behind it, oil, mines, territory, you just can't have humanity and just help people in need.
@Ralph Problem, okay there is a lot to deal with here so I am going to itemize my rebukes by order that they appear.
@Kliment Voroshilov, USA would be so good if there wasn't sooooo muchhhh secrettttt.... everything that happen have a freakin conspiracy behind it... the intelligence agency's is hiding so much stuff, you need Wikileaks to educate the population, its just sad man.. I'm not insulting you or the population, just the way the things are done in your country. Seriously, over 300 million peoples, the best you could find to represent yourself is two clowns, I just want to slap you population behind the head and say wake up, You guys can do so much better
1. Free speech.
The people you are talking about that think or say thouse things are a minority who I might add is entitled to their opinion.
In canada the constitution says that you have a right to free speech but goes on to say that:
"only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society."
Free speech can not be limited, this essentially says that the government has the right to censor speech that they don't agree with.
People don't go around killing each other if you take the gang violence out of the equation the us drops to 28th in gun deaths. There is no reason to take firearms away from reasonable citizens.
The reason that canada doesn't have crime in the same manner is that they don't share a border with mexico that is host to a ridiculously large drug trade that funds the gang violence.
BLM is a terrorist organization that tares a city apart whenever they see some perceived injustice.
It is not open season on black people you are statistically more likely to be shot by police as a white male for a lessor crime than a black man.
The majority of the shootings that the point to are justified once the facts come out but they don't wait for the facts they simply start rioting and looting and pillaging.
The only thing BLM has managed to accomplish is create a racial divide in this country that is the worst it's been since the 60's
Fourth comment: I am not entirely sure what you are trying to say because the grammar is so fractured an broken.
But if you mean that we don't give people money with no expectation of them working you are right. We expect people to work for a living not to leech of of thouse who do.
@Ralph Problem, Your comment about the candidates being morons I completely agree with and we can do much better.
@Kliment Voroshilov, I'm french, live with it. You didn't work for what you got, you are born in a country where people have fought long ago for your freedom. Some people didn't had this chance and are born in a 3rd world country, they are human too and we are helping other human, its called humanity, like I said people from the US don't understand this
@Kliment Voroshilov, BLM wouldn't exist if there wasn't any racism, same for KKK and many others
@Kliment Voroshilov, Guns, I'm not saying anywhere that USA is the worst, I'm saying that my country don't have this problem, that's why we are arguing. I know, few's goes around shooting everywhere, but I don't understand why you're giving gun to everyone, there is nothing to fight, nothing to kill, you are inside the US, protected by frontiers. How do mentally hill peoples can do a mass shooting if there's no possible way to get a gun?
@Kliment Voroshilov, for us, it's normal to help other's, we don't see other people as American or Not American, we see people as human being, I had the chance to being born in a country where people have fought for my freedom and my lifestyle, and I'm honouring them by trying to give it to other, because i want them to have the chance I had.
@Ralph Problem, I see that we have reached a point where my reason won't overwhelm your belief and I accept that though i disagree with you. One thing I have to say though is how dare you assume that I have not worked for what I have. My father's family has been here since long before this country was founded and helped shape this country and my ancestors shed blood in every war for this country. My mother's family came here from Italy in 1950 with nothing and have made a way for themselves through hard work. I was lucky to be born in America but I have never taken anything they provided for me for granted and have worked to make my life and my families better.
America bathing in the tears of our country after this election.......oh what? No politics? Okay sorry *slowly leaves room*
@Gerggle, At first I was like well Hillary is corrupt, but Donald is Evil. But now that whole thing with the new emails coming out, it feels like we are literally picking one of 2 comic book villains
@Gerggle, we'll be fine.
Majestic as fvck
Majestic as F^#k
Or bathing in the tears of voters
The most American thing I love about our country is our 1st amendment, which enables both the elite intellectuals and the plain spoken commoners to argue back and forth about everything from our executive branch to how things would wear pants.
America bathing in the tears of Pakistani children killed by drones
Maybe it's maybeline
*tears from laughing about how f-ed up we are and tears of joy about how easy its gonna b to blow us up.
And that's why the bath is so deep
No matter who wins nothing will change because people in the government cant agree
What kind of dog is that.
@BigsnakeJake , freedom doggo.
SHE'S GOT THE URGE! SHE'S GOT THE URGE FOR FREEDOM!!
Must be the water they used on the Lamborghini
