Overwatch isn't even a MOBA. It's a straight up Hero Shooter, like Team Fortress. Battleborn is still a shooter, but with more MOBQ elements and mechanics. Basically on a scale of LoL to Call of Duty, Battleborn is more to the left and overwatch is more to the right. They're both very good games (i love both of them) that just happened to come out at the same time. That's the only reason they're competing
@McGeek, That and Blizzard basically wants to monopolize the space rather than share it with smaller companies so their ad campaign shot Battleborn in the kneecaps(get it?) to make sure people wrote it off as "second rate Overwatch" which is BS.
@TheRatMan, I agree 100%. Blizzard has their fingers in too many pies, which wouldn't be a big deal, if they would actually share the dang pies
@McGeek, Yea. If they monopolized the market then the market would grow stale and never change. It's the same reason CoD stayed the same for half a decade until some new competition arrived. Gearbox wants to bring back games like Monday Night Combat but because it's still a first person game where some characters shoot stuff that means Blizzard feels the need to step in and say no, this is our corner of the playground, like that one kid who always hoards the toys for themselves. It's childish
@TheRatMan, I'd agree with you but after playing Overwatch I don't think I'd really need another shooter for a long time anyways. Blizz never fails to deliver imo.
@McGeek, I agree 100% it's annoying that people compare them since they are so different.
@McGeek, I haven't tried overwatch but I played the beta for Battleborn and really could not get into it. I'm no fan of MOBAs so that could be it but something about the game just made me put it down. I'll try Overwatch if I get the chance but if not I won't bother
@AdampoTheBeaner, I like Overwatch but I prefer Battleborn. It's characters are far more unique in personality and gameplay than Overwatch, where a lot of the characters are basically Blizz's version of TF2 classes(Tracer=Scout, Zarya=Heavy, Mercy=Medic, ETC.) and so while Overwatch is fun I can't help but feel like I've played it before, cause I have, and it's called TF2 which I've played and am still playing for years now. Battleborn feels less desperate to latch onto the success of another game.
@McGeek, what is MOBA?
@TheRatMan, Battleborn has those same characters (the huge guy with mini-gun, the robo sniper, alani the healer who looks like a siren from borderlands) along with other cliches like the bow wielding elf and robots. Can't fault one without faulting the other
@Tokenblackguy, Montana: American, not Russian, significantly bigger, speaks childishly rather than simply having a challenged speech pattern. Marquis: Former butler to Phoebe that activates a hobo eradication protocol when the Magna Carts AI goes dark and makes all Magnus AIs to go insane, has a robotic owl named Hoodini and his pistol and rifle are the same thing, he's also German. Alani is made of water, uses straight up magic water rather than pseudo-magic like the Siren and is also a naive teen sky her attitude is more dorky and nervous as she attempts little puns in combat. The closest one to a simple stereotype is Montana but he's not another burly Russian, he's childish and WAY bigger.
@TheRatMan, Magna Carta*
They are both great games and are NOT the same game at all gameplay wise. They only look similar thematically.
@Donald Drumpf, The problem is people rarely look beyond surface level ads and Blizz used their campaign funds specifically to make people write off BB as a "second rate" version of Overwatch because Blizz doesn't understand that monopolizing a market is a horrible idea. And honestly to some Overwatch feels like a desperate attempt to be TF2
@TheRatMan, Some including me even though I enjoy it. This coming from a long time TF2 player
@Donald Drumpf, except one is being destroyed in sales compared to another, I ain't got nothing against battleborn haven't played ether game but looking at sales figures battleborn gonna flop, and if what gearbox said about investing more into it then borderlands 1 and 2 put together is true this is really gonna hurt gearsbox's bottom line
@VincentV, they did have to cut the price in half and give a whole bunch of in game offers
Overwatch is glorious, I play it like daily
@Elmato, You PC brah?
Which is the good one again?
@Novawraith, Dark Souls
@LimonPetrikov, my man!
@Novawraith, both of them 👍
@Novawraith, Cory in the house
@LimonPetrikov, praise the sun!
Gotta need McCree first
Anyone have Overwatch on Xbox? I'm putting together a team 🤔( or just people to play with ). would love to have anybody interested message me on xbox if you are ( mic recommended not needed ) GT: BigMarv75
"You have selected..POWER DRIVE, may I suggest.. Feather touch? POWER DRIVE."
Anybody else mox up new games comming out alot...... nobody just me.
You got me Team Fortress 3! ;D
I like battleborn, but it does just feel like a worse version of borderlands and the fact that it's made by the same people kinda makes that worse. I don't even know if I should get over watch, that would involve me using steam.
@FrostyKnife, over watch isn't steam if that's the reason stopping you from getting it :D
@Boterschjite, Not specifically it's just that I'm not a PC gamer and I haven't used steam in almost a year. I've heard it is on ps4 so I may get it on that.
Mom....you have a whole 10 seconds to get the FUUUUUUU OUT MA FACE WITH THIS SHIIIIIII
Plus he doesn't even own a Xbox One
