True story bro. Unfortunately right now pop culture dictates that men are the problem and therefore don't get the help they need
@GFDOOM, we don’t need help! We are men! We don’t listen to pop culture
@GFDOOM, 75-80% of suicides are male, 75-80% of workplace fatalities are male, and over 90% of incarcerated are male. Males are at a 1 in 5 rate of sexual assault (compared to women's 1 in 3, they've got it worse) but have less than a tenth of the resources available to female victimsof sexual assaults. Men are also at risk of emotional, financial, and physical abuse in relationships without law enforcement as backup. Most of the time "my wife hit me" is met with laughter and "man up bro" to say nothing of reproductive coercion.
We're all damaged people that need a little help. let's stop gate keeping trauma and stop trying to one up each other on "who's got it worse"
@seeUpee, you damn right! Man up, pvssies!
@ Tobias Widower, sexist clearly you mean 20 percent of suicides are women, 20-25 of workplace fatalities are women and 10% of incarcerated are female.
@ Tobias Widower, if you bring up that many numberd you definitely need to baxk it up wirh sources. Not that i dont doubt where the real numbers go but this seems just sucked out of your thumbs. Id appreciate a source of information
@ Tobias Widower, Those are only successful suicides. Women attempt suicide at a much higher rate but men are just naturally better than women at everything.
@Blandrice, the top suicide method is by firearm, statistically women are less likely to have a gun.
@Bluemama, Wow, women even suck at practicing 2A. smh
@ Tobias Widower, I allways figured the man up attitude was so our men can be used for war without complaints, which is like 99% of human history is fighting, but now that we have actual global peace like nothing before in history, it's a hard shift to realizing we don't need to breed emotionless warriors anymore.
Workplace fatalities by gender. US based.
World health org, ratio of male to female suicide after standardization for biased factors.
Gender disparity in incarceration rates.
Social construct issues like reproductive coercion are much harder to generate hard numbers for. Hence why I didn't list numbers for them.
You must be swift as a coursing river
@eleven, with all the force of a great typhoon!
@Suicide Squad Sucks, with all the strength of a raging fire.
@The Flame War, mysterious as the dark side of the moon
Get help, trust me it’s worth it
I'm sorry, I really just don't understand posts like this, do y'all honestly think it's any better for women?
Do I get free phycology because I'm a woman? Does someone pay for it because I have tits? Please direct me to this person.
When I attempted my suicide nobody held my hand, what they did was give me an outrages medical bill and try to take away my child, until I could show I was mentally fit so I jumped through every fvcking hoop they put in front of me, wishing I just fvcking succeeded but fighting to keep the only thing that keeps me here today. I had one drunken slip up after a whole life of anxiety, depression, and PTSD and I was nothing but punished for it.
I can't even afford to go to a general practitioner much less a therapist.
Maybe we should stop putting a gender on it and call it how it is, it's hard being mentally ill, it's harder when our government doesn't care about our help mental or physical, and we shouldnt make worse by seperating it by gender
@Bluemama, well, I did it, I got heated over a meme. What I really am trying to say is, I miss the generic I want to die memes.
@Bluemama, I understand what you’re saying. I will say that there are still plenty of those memes out there and being posted everyday into the infinite void. Memes are a form of expression, and as a woman who has suffers from depression myself and who too has has to work on her own to seek out affordable and quality care I will say that it is still much easier for me to openly have discussions about my depression and for other women to feel comfortable joining in the conversation as well. I think it is also easier for men to denote their depression and write it off as something else because it shows itself in many different shapes and forms. It also has a tendency to show itself differently in different genders and can vary from person to person as well. Depression doesn’t have anything to do with gender but gender can be a direct influence on the levels of comfortability others feel when discussing their own. It may help others feel more included in the general conversations. . .
@Bluemama, @FearTamer outside of the funnypics community, once male depression is discussed a bit more publicly and freely. And then we’ll be able to go about generalizing things more even though we still have the freedom to do so now; and more identifying male parties will have the ability to feel more open to doing so which will hopefully and most likely have a decreasing affect on the critics as well.
And so we turn to cigarettes, booze, and drugs
Sending you good vibes again!!!
I actually just got out of a psych ward today it was 4 guys to 6 girls so at least in my area they’re getting help.
What more do you need? High five cures all ills
