@More Butter, woke person: how dare you say that! You must just be a racist! You only want white people in movies. White people are evil. *channels Greta Thunberg* HOW DARE YOU!!!! Me: isn't that kinda racist to choose the people based off their skin color? And racist to say it's because your white? Or racist to say white people are evil? Woke person: I guess you're just a Nazi. Now you should be banned from Twitter. Please carry you vaccine card with you at all times. Give us money. And don't question a single thing or you'll be cancelled and thrown in prison!

@Natural Sarcasm , u forgot to mention another main reason y ppl watch movies because they have to make sure that there’s nothing offensive in the movie too. Incredibly graphic gore and violence is fine cause that has no negative affects on children but god forbid a male character accidentally assumes a female character is female and calls her she cause the repercussions of a child hearing something so horrific could traumatize them for life

@More Butter, as someone who works in product development, I get that argument for movie makers, but in the product world it’s not just about money, but the entire stability of our business structure. 90% of our products are manufactured and engineered by our Chinese factories and if we boycott them we wouldn’t have a business anymore. Also, yeah the government sucks but the people I deal with in the private sector are just delightful.

The new election law puts permanently almost all the covid election changes that the Democrats wanted like mail in for everyone, extended voting periods, and more options for remote voting... Except that you need to provide voter ID for, which is somehow a travesty because IDs are racist against minorities and blacks. A few cooperations got on board to denounce the georgia bill like coke and two airlines, which makes no sense because both require ids to use. So they're admitting to their own racism?
-
@Tentastic, though some people are for whatever reason upset about the ID requirement, my understanding is most of the complaints about the new laws are things like reduced numbers of polling stations in areas that were already seeing crazy long lines, rules against giving water to people in said lines, etc. Granted there are definitely some positive changes in there too.
-
@bobbylupo, I’m not saying this is representative of all the left but I’ve seen videos where they say minorities don’t have access to the dmv and I’ve even seen some talk about how black people don’t have access to the internet or know how to use computers, and they had no idea how racist that sounded lol
-
@danciestlobster, they specifically address lines. If someone is waiting more than an hour the polling station is required to make all sorts of changes. The rule for not handing out water is good. Do you want the NRA to hand out water and intimidate people. The poll has self serve water. There is not a single bad thing in the law. It’s just media whipping people up to be mad and vote dem
-
@big freedom, I hadn't heard that about the polling stations but I do hope the new laws are as good as you say. What kind of changes are the polling stations required to make? The water is less of a big deal if people aren't waiting more than an hour, though that certainly isnt how it played out last election cycle
-
@Lying Cat, When you mentioned the shorter mail in times and less ballot boxes etc in your preedit comment, you do realize that's all in reference to the covid temporary changes? I.e. during covid, we said "we need to extend mailin times and add more ballot boxes" (which is called changing the rules) And now were saying "alright some of these changes were actually good, we should make some of them permanent" And Dems are all screaming "it's reducing/changing the rules!!!" When it's actually not. if we didn't have this bill, ALL the extra rules from covid would be gone (all mail in ballots, extra ballot boxes, etc.)
-
@Tentastic, Reading the Bill. I just wanna make sure we’re all on the same page. I heard the same thing, it’s harder for minorities to get ID’s for that same reason. I also heard that it’s illegal for anyone to pass out water/food for people in line and that polling stations aren’t required to serve water. https://apnews.com/article/what-does-new-georgia-gop-election-law-do-87665a200f6442e28ef43cbc60c88653
-
@MrTuxPenguin, you’re asking for sources and the source is the bill is what I’m saying. It’s not more difficult for minorities to get IDs if they’re natural born US citizens, I’m sure immigrants might have more paperwork though. Plus there are 5 other acceptable forms of ID including a voter ID that you can get for free if you have no other ID Food and water can be passed out by poll workers or you can bring your own. The only stipulation is that third parties aren’t allowed to pass anything out as it’s seen as bribery
-
@MrTuxPenguin, you're right it is now illegal to pass out water to people in line. Ideally this stops people from trying to swing voted going "vote for this guy it's why I'm giving you water". However, to say that it's starving/hurting people is overkill. There was no requirement in the first place to hand out water physically
-
@Tentastic, And that’s what people have a problem with. Even when it’s a non partisan group handing out water they’re not allowed. And the wait times can be hours long. (As long as 4 hours waiting in line and they want to shut down even more polling places for no reason). https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/5972650002
-
@Natural Sarcasm , Public Transport: takes an hour at least. Uber/taxi: they don’t have $40 to spend on that. Family: a lot don’t have vehicles and if they do, how many can they fit in it? They all chipping in for gas? Who picks the music?! Why can’t they just Mail in votes? Aren’t we suppose to make things easier for people? Why can’t the government pick up the slack?
-
@MrTuxPenguin, they can mail in votes, they just have to request them now. Plus how did you expect them to get to the polls before the district split? Also the district split would make the commute shorter not longer as there would be more polling places Minorities aren’t helpless, it’s sad you think they are
-
@Mag3rPayne, I don’t remember the last time a reporter asked a politician what they thought about the latest movie or sporting event so idk they always ask celebrities and athletes about politics. If you’re an actor I wanna hear u talk about acting if you’re an athlete I wanna hear u talk about sports Idc about your politics same way idc about politicians opinions on your work
-
@InsaneAnimeCleavage, the problem is that these ppl that r always complaining just need something to complain about and you’ll never make them happy. I always say until america is perfect and we have no problems we shouldn’t spend so much time money and resources trying to fix the world most other countries don’t help other countries they just focus on themselves and there’s nothing wrong wit that but for some reason America has to be the savior of the world and try to fix everyone else’s problems and y then do ppl criticize them for always getting involved in other countries business and when they don’t they say y isn’t America doing anything to help they don’t care about (insert country) they only care about themselves
-
@InsaneAnimeCleavage, the point is the hypocrisy. It's the exact same thing for the ids, but its only racist for non-liberal groups. MLB moving the game also took millions out of Atlanta. It's pure low-brow politics and un a bit or irony it hurts a predominantly black community in the name of "Social justice".
-
@InsaneAnimeCleavage, no. I mean that the right to earn a living is a right that the government cannot take away, just like gun ownership. You need an ID in the US for both of those things. If voter fraud is not an issue, then there should be zero pushback on requiring an ID to vote. Eliminate it for the first two cases, and I’ll change my mind on the third.
-
Georgia has proposed a reasonable set of laws. Requiring ID is not only a necessity, but also completely doable by everyone. You could even request they add in, or seperately add the ability for people to obtain ID for free, if they follow the requirements. Regardless, if someone isn't smart enough to be able to get an ID, they shouldn't be allowed to vote. There are people who are so stupid, but still got an ID and voted.
Because... money..?
