True story: as you all might know, I live in Orlando, FL and it's no joke that Florida is DIVERSE. I grew up in a white neighborhood, surrounded by a Hispanic neighborhood and went to a mostly Black school. I've got such a mixed group of friends, it ain't even funny. This old white guy (not racist but has the rebel flag on his truck, hanging outside his house, etc.) I used to work with and had recently retired wanted some weed. So me and 2 if my buddies (1 black, 1 Puerto Rican) were hanging out and dropped by the old dudes house. We smoked few joints and next thing I know my black friend (we'll call him "blackie" so I don't have to keep calling him my black friend, that's racist) and whitey are like best friends. Laughing and carrying on, whitey takes blackie into his house to show him his rifles and animals he's hunted, blackie introduces whitey to twerki g and shows him videos of half naked women making their ass clap. It's great, now they hang out, even sometimes without
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, me and are good buddies that like getting high and we all go fishing and to bars and it's just funny for me to sit back and watch these 2 unlikeliest people to be friends, hanging out and genuinely enjoying each others company.
Smoke weed kids, you'll make new friends in unexpected places.
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, what a melting pot of friendship
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, I love hearing stories like this! In SA I met this guy who asked where he could buy weed, so I pointed to a surf shop that I knew sold it on the side. About an hour later the guy found me again , bought me some Shwarma and we smoked a blunt on the beach 😁 just out of the blue, super chill day!
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, a similar results can be achieved with sport, walks in the park, video games, going to a casino, pretty much anywhere without the need for drugs. As long as the drugs enhance the fun, great. If you can't have the fun without the drugs... That's a problem.. keep it under control folks!
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, so what's the whole point about the rebel flag in the story? Unless you are implying everyone with the rebel flag is racist? Why couldnt it just be a story about an unlikely friendship between an old guy and a young guy
@TheMightyImp, the drugs are not required but it is what brings those people that normally wouldn't be friend together. You usually don't see a sourthen redneck/country guy invite a black dude for a walk in the park. Or the quiet asian math genius invite a the popular preppy jock guy over to play video games. Sports....maybe. but I have been invited with by friends to come chill and smoke and when I get there, someone I may have never thought I'd get along with or have anything in common was there and we smoked a blunt or bowls and get to talking and laughing then realize that we both have same interests, get along great and become new friends
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, if weed was never illegal we would have world Peace by now.... :(
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, not actually attacking you or anything. But the drugs aren't the thing. It's the common interest that brings people together. Let's use a industrial techno club night as an example. Common interest brings all types together. Why a red neck and black guy can't walk together is a mystery. Maybe living in the UK where we are truly Integrated (due to our past colonial atrocities) I just can't see a reason why these people can't get along.
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, where in Orlando? My hubby and I are moving back home to Orlando and we’re always looking for fishing and smoking friends
@TheMightyImp, well I live in Florida and I can tell you I'm fairly certain there is no "industrial techno clubs" in the entire state. And it's not that these types of people can't be friends but, these people wouldn't normally approach or hang out with each other to find these common interests if it weren't weed. It's literally the only drug I've experienced (directly or indirectly) that makes the vast majority of people who use it happy and when you're high (on weed) nothing is better than getting to know someone and talk about crazy shjt.
@Leslie Knope 2020, recently moved from Apopka to Mount Dora
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, I went to high school in Apopka! And I LOVE Mount Dora!!! We are moving in tomorrow in a place in Winter Park. Let’s be friends now?
@Leslie Knope 2020, lol sure. What year you graduate apopka? We may already know each other
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, ok my friend. Feel free to keep coming back at me, rather than metalACE who basically called you a racist.
I'm.not judging you. Your vigorous defence of the drug sounds a little like you fall into the can't have fun without it category. But it's just a phase, nothing to worry about
@MetalACE, to show how different these 2 are. You don't typically see black people and white people sporting the rebel flag as friends. And not implying everyone who supports the rebel flag is racist at all. I get it, I get the whole story of it's their history and heritage and that it symbolized being against the liberals of the north and I have no problem with it. But, most, if not all, minorities and some other white people see it as racist and a reason to not approach or befriend that person.
@TheMightyImp, ehhhh I think you do sound a little judgemental, especially thinking I need weed to have fun. I actually have been out of my "smoke all day, everyday" phase for 7+ years. I still smoke, maybe once or twice a week, if that these days but I still stand by my opinion on it. I wish there was a study to prove my point that if you put 10 strangers in a room by themselves and 10 others with a few joints and come back in an hour, I'd be willing to bet money the high group would be laughing and having fun and making friendships that last beyond the few hours of being high. You just sound like a stick in the mud, honestly and I'd also be willing to be you never smoked and if you did, it was once, you choked out, got super paranoid and never touched it again. You don't have to make an opinion about someone based on a story of a past experience just because you think it should fit your idea of society. Get off your high horse and smoke a bowl, maybe you'll make some new friends
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, hmmm, nice ass_umption.. I ran the most successful happy hardcore/house/techno nightclub in the south of England for 6 years, and watched all walks of life United by music. Just goes to show we don't know each other, and shouldn't jump to conclusions.
I'm glad you agree it was a phase and (trying not to use the phrase 'grown out of it' but really can't be arsed) have moved on.
As for drugs, running a club means being exposed to all drugs you could imagine, but these drugs never defined me or my friends, just gave a little extra to the fun we were already having. I have stayed true to my original statement, and if your message truly is something like 'kids take drugs or you'll never make diverse friends and closed minds in society will call you a stick in the mud that chokes and gets paranoid' then I know that I am happy with my diametrically opposed opinion to you. Have a great day
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, isn't the Confederate flag primarily associated with the south wanting to keep slaves? If you're not racist then why would you have it on your house/truck? I'm Australian and I legitimately ask out of curiosity.
@TheMightyImp, dude you are seriously a chore to talk and listen to. Again, as you stated, America is different. There's racism everywhere and not just from whites. We are not as integrated as you (congrats) and thank God that techno crap hasn't caught on "across the pond" from you. The JOKE about kids smoking weed is exactly that, a JOKE. I'm not encouraging kids to do drugs and if they want to, that's fine too. If you haven't realized yet, I'm pretty heavy on the sarcasm in here and it's to make people smile and hopefully laugh. My statement about you being a stick in the mud and at this point a thorny, annoying stick, is a well formulated opinion. You have yourself a Star spangled day, yourself.
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, as we say in affluent England, Bore off
@but its hard, it's such a touchy subject with those who support the flag. Most common argument I hear is that is symbolizes the south resisting the oppressive north from controlling their ways of making a living (which was basically farming with the use of slaves) but they argue that it wasn't just owning slaves but their way of life that was was being challenged by the urban north. A lot of people say they support the rebel flag because their ancestors died protecting their lands and livelihood (which was basically their farms and slaves used to farm). So I don't have a solid answer for you. I've met some of the nicest people (the guy from my story) that hang that flag up and aren't racist and some that can't stand anyone that's not white. Honestly I don't care either way, as long as your not violent towards people you don't know or try to dictate what they can and can't do, hate them as much as you want. Everyone has a judgement about "different" people whether they admit it or not
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, thanks. I guess the flag has different meaning to different people. Though may be they should find another symbol that isn't so tied down with the enslavement of your fellow man.
I don't understand racism though. As you say, everyone has prejudices but I can't imagine judging someone, to the point of hate, solely on one external aspect before you even know them.
Anyhow, that's beside the point. I'm sleep deprived and rambling but thanks for explaining it 😁
@but its hard, I agree but the human mind is capable of so much and so little, it's amazing. I personally find it fulfilling to meet and get to know other cultures. There's nothing new to learn when your friends and people around you are all the same as you
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, I graduated 2006
@Leslie Knope 2020, 08 here
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, from APK?
@Leslie Knope 2020, yeah, last yeah before they torn down the old school for the new shjtty one
@Leslie Knope 2020, small world. Some of my favorite high school memories were in the science building. I wonder if we know each other. I was a stoner and didn’t go to class much
@Leslie Knope 2020, I did westside half of my last year for bad attendance. Most for skipping to go smoke
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, do you use Snapchat? I don’t have any other social media and I don’t want to give out personal info on here
@Leslie Knope 2020, I do but ever really post stuff except in chats to friends. Stanko407
They passed him the blowfish
@Jakobian, LOL as an animal lover, I appreciate this comment so much.
