almost as if having a full cast of women doesnt excuse you from writing a good movie...
No, but seriously, I watched it and it wasnt that bad. It wasnt incredible either, thou
But people have come to expect the worst from all female reboots and I think thats why it bombed so hard. Like the ghostbusters, and the oceans movies
@Deadkizz, I agree, I think the action and fast suspense was good but I think this franchise has been beaten too much to make any sequel or reboot from the original two impossible. It may be that this was meant to be that simple of a movie not to go that much farther. If anything the films should just show the war leading up to the time travel but not try to force a stand alone terminator being a hero or villain.
@Deadkizz, terminator just doesn’t have the fan base the owners of the IP believe it does. People won’t just turn out because you’ve put terminator in the name. Every time a crappy terminator comes out the fan base who does come out learn not to come out the next time. They are basically killing their own IP
@Deadkizz, To be fair, most reboots bomb regardless of casting.
@Deadkizz, One thing I still don’t get about the Ghostbusters was why they made Chris Hemsworth’s character so insanely dumb. I mean, the guy couldn’t work out how to use a telephone - that’s at a level where you need a carer to take you out in public! Why did they do that? Janine wasn’t like that, so why was he? Were they going for ‘ditzy blonde’ but accidentally went full retard instead? (never go full retard).
The movie basically pulled an Alien 3 and disrespected the established characters from the better previous movies.
Shame, the new Terminator dude was a lot like the t1000 and Sarah Connor was badass.
@Liquid Stuff, Sarah and the new terminator were great but not cool to reboot it like that.
@Liquid Stuff, one thing I've realized with both franchises is that the first two films are the best and the only ones worth watching
@Liquid Stuff, "possible spoiler"
I liked the new terminators ability to split into two, kinda like a combination of a T-1000 and T-X.
This new fad of rebooting a male led movie or series is fvcking annoying. I am all for a woman or non white person to lead a movie. Just make an original. Female Ghostbusters, female oceans eleven, woman Thor, black Captain America, spider woman, female 007.
Like fvck, just make your own shjt. If a white dude started in a re-made movie that was originally a minority or woman, Hollywood would shjt themselves
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, double standards rule in places like Hollywood where for some reason they feel compelled to cater to the whiniest members of minority groups the ones that give the rest of their group a bad name and then wondering why catering to these people isn’t producing huge success
I had no problem with the female cast, I was actually looking forward to the new female Terminator, who looked like a character taking the situation seriously. My issue was continuing the trend started with Salvation and Genisys, where it's just an average (Salvation)/mediocre (Genisys) sci-fi action flick with "Terminator" pasted on the poster.
Haven't actually seen Dark Fates yet, maybe I'm wrong, but I just didn't have high hopes for this movie
@SimonPetrikov, same. I heard decent things but nothing making me give them my 10 bucks to see it in theatre.
Robot Sex in the City.
I did not realize it was an all female cast until just now, I chose not to watch it because the last one was really disappointing, same reason I still haven't seen bumblebee
I think I a male charly's Angel's could be good. Charly is a unisex name so it could work. Plus guys are way better action stars!
I didn't realize it was an all female movie because... there were men and Arnold was in it. Do people really go to the movies and count how many women are in each preview? Weird.
I will say this movie is the best non-James Cameron directed Terminator sequel, and the movie on its own was still enjoyable. But at the end of the day it still wasn't a good Terminator movie
I actually liked the movie.. except for how they did a character hella dirty at the beginning (you’ll know what I mean when you see it) but. I thought overall the movie wasn’t that bad.
@Nitro73, can you spoil it for me?
@Mantis Tobaggan, you sure??
@Nitro73, I won't see it for a long time so I'll probably forget by then. After salvation I'm not seeing a Terminator in theatres again.
so, yes I'm sure
@Mantis Tobaggan, gotchu bud. So in the first few minutes you see Sarah and John Connor relaxing on a beach after Terminator 2 and that the date of Judgement day has passed. Sarah is relaxing and John is talking to a girl and then starts walking to Sarah and he says an Arnold Terminator and it blasts him with a shotgun twice killing him. Basically everything they went through in Terminator 2 was for nothing at that point.
@Nitro73, that's dumb as hell
@Mantis Tobaggan, yup I really didn’t like that.
