Always great dialogue
Listen to freaks and geeks by childish gambino, that's poetry right there
@Gov Blackman, totally agree... His sh!t's really good and it you have to listen twice to catch some of the metaphors and similes. I like that.
@Gov Blackman, Bonfire's my favorite.
@Gov Blackman, what's poetry? Rhymes, right? Intricate use of words, it's funny, because for all your claims of poetry, most of you don't even know what a rhyme scheme is. The more technical they rhyme scheme and better the vocabulary, the better the poet, fundamentally. Metaphors, Cadence, styles are secondarily in rap. This picture IS accurate, because what is being fed to you guys as Rap, as most of you are so willing to gullibly gobble it up, is NOT poetry. As whimsical as catchy as it may be, it's McDonalds of poetry. Sit down, write down some Stanzas, better yet, write down your favorite rapper's stanzas, then after you do, tally up all the rhymes. Then take a true literary artist, such as Tech N9ne, and tally them up. You will come to realize some artists put more in 1 Bar than some of your "artists" put in their whole verse.
@Gov Blackman, an elephant never forgets
@aiquoy, think about it...McDonalds drops millions, if not billions into advertisement to sell sup-par food, when they could be dropping billions into making better food instead and letting people come based of that quality. Why would they still dump money into advertisement instead? Because they know what people hear more and see more often is what they will most likely go with; people are typically uncomfortable to go with what they DON'T know. That's why music industry drops millions into making you familiar with their "artists", because just like McDonalds, they know it's not the quality that matters, but rather it's how many people are aware of you.
@Gov Blackman, have you ever heard of watsky?
@Gov Blackman, I HAVE FOUND ANOTHER WHO LISTENS
@Gov Blackman, I love that song!
@Limerickrolled, sometimes even more than twice to catch the metaphors
@aiquoy, have you ever listened to childish gambino? Or are you making an overarching statement based off of nicki Minaj and lil wayne
@VaginalHubris, I enjoy quite a bit
@aiquoy, nobody cares
@aiquoy, listen to some of Childish Gambino. His music not only sounds good, but it has real meaning. Stuff that a lot of people aren't even aware that is wrong with the world. I understand that you want to say your two cents, and often it makes sense with what people say, but definitely not in regards to Childish Gambino.
@Gov Blackman, a Gambino is a mastermind, f*ck yo b*tch to pass the time. Beautiful.
@Gov Blackman, I thought I was the only person on here that listened to childish gambino
@RoyaleVIP, I listen to him religiously. You see me is my favourite song.
@aiquoy, Honestly, your entire statement sounds like something someone with little to no knowledge about hip hop or music in General would say. First of all, your little rhetoric about poetry is incorrect. Rhyme is but one of the many tools implemented by poets such as alliteration. Most poems with a rhyme scheme don't go beyond AB if they even have one. Secondly, you state that the rap is the mcdonalds of poetry. Your reasoning is again flawed. You say that the more technical the rhyme scheme and better the vocabulary, the better the poet. That is utterly ridiculous; poetry doesn't rely on rhyme or even vocabulary to be a good. Hip hop is but a form of poetry, like a haiku. It has specific parameters that it follows, such as relying heavily on rhyme and a beat. Because not only does a rapper have to worry about a much more technical rhyme scheme, but he has to worry about rhythm, melody, cadence, as well as content. So the next time you judge a genre try and be accurate at least.
@Gov Blackman, Gambino's the best
@Gov Blackman, Or just listen to Childish Gambino in general
@Limerickrolled, but her name is Sarah
God damn. So we're firing shots now?
@ Kendrick Lamar TDE, pew pew pew
@President Dave, pew pew pew *click click click*
@Totallyunimportant, no Kendrick Lamar goes "doot doot doot"
@JarrenBenton, yes, yes, yes!!! You are possibly my favorite person on this app for recognizing that!
@ Kendrick Lamar TDE, lol, Kendrick is awesome.
@JarrenBenton, where does he rank on your list of best rappers alive? For me he would be #1
I'm in the kitchen yams everywhere!..... What a touching poem by 2Chainz
@Sylux, my personal favorite of his is from that very poem in the opening line where he speaks of a woman he is very find of. I believe he said " She got a big booty so I call her big booty." Riveting.
Pound cake freestyle by Childish Gambino is poetry....
@DatGuyFromDatThing, its crazy how he made it up on the spot
I only drink while I'm hangin out with my funny pics friends
But rapping is literally poetry in rhythm. I must admit however, the content of rap music now-a-days may be questionable, but the skills it takes to write out the lyrics are the same skills to write out a poem.
Metaphorical shots fired!
Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino are exceptions. In fact Earl is the son of one of the most famous and influential poets in South Africa
I'm not saying she's a gold digger but....what am I saying she is?
I've seen this episode like 50 times… I have problems.
I'm sorry but eminem and OFWGKTA are poets you can't deny it. Just becuase they sound like gangsters doesn't mean you group them in with the others without actually listening to them
@Poopcorn, Odd Future sucks....
@Illiterate, they do their rap for fun and don't take it seriously, they didn't think they'd make it to where they are. So the fact they are where they are know is pretty astonishing. Also Frank Ocean is amazing
The only rapper that was also a poet was Tupac,
'I'm not saying she's a gold digger, but she's not messing with'... now whom isn't she messing with?
They are, Seth macfarlane, you're just a conceded white man, but you're pretty funny
Or sandwich makes at subway are "sandwich artists"

We get it Seth Mcfarlane, you don't like hip hop. Now don't become South Park and be a preacher of your dislikes. Sincerely, all actually talented rappers.
I'm not saying she is a gold digger, but she isn't messing with a, hmm what isn't she messing with.
