@Cobaltqube, maybe, but if you boil certain foods in water they lose salt so a good cook will add salt to make it taste correct. If the chef is worth his salt ( pardon the pun ) you won’t need to ask for seasoning. Ps I agree with you btw.
@Fun Facts 101, truth. Black people always make fun of white people for not going crazy on the seasoning but black people have way way higher rates of obesity, so maybe they just go overboard with food.
@JakobJeanCiccone, 100% correct and I love my black friends but their cooking sucks and think drenching their food in hot sauce, bbq sauce and seasoning is being a good cook.
To my credit, I am as white as can be, I was taught how to season things by a local diner cook. She was a 67 year old black woman who made me realize what soul food was... Good rest her soul...
When cooking, salt does miracles. It doesn't always make things salty, it changes the entire flavor of a dish, it makes cookies sweeter, it makes terrible tastes outstanding, and enhances the flavor profile of each dish.
(I am a white guy going through culinary school)
If you buy good ingredients and cook good food, seasoning is minimal as the food itself has the flavor. Just my thoughts.
