Jk, I love it here.
@Timekeeper II EST, I know, it's fuсking bullsнit
Pro-lifer: Abortion is wrong! All human life is precious
Pro-choicer: Let's get universal healthcare for the best interest of everyones well-being!
Pro-lifer: *insert video*
Also, just to be fair to both sides
Feminist: Women are opressed!
Normal person: Name one way women are opressed
Feminist: *insert video*
@K1lgore, hilarious in both cases lol
@K1lgore, i love you ❤️
@K1lgore, pro choicer: "it's my body and my right! It's just a bundle of cells!"
Pro lifer: it's not your body, it's a living human that you want to stab, crush, and vacuum out because the child is an inconvenience for you.
@Fun Facts 101, I'm pro-choice, mostly because there are cases where having the child can ruin someone's life, and often put the child in a terrible situation. I'm definitely for it in cases of rape or incest. Personally, I would prefer birth control, but that often isn't available.
And people don't get abortions because it would be inconvenient. There might be one or two women out of a thousand that would even consider it, but it is generally not a decision made lightly. These people know exactly what they're doing, they don't need you to remind them.
@Ultimatum, haha! That's funny! See you're justifying killing children because of a minority. Your feelings doesn't matter. The fact is, it's a child. It can feel pain, it has a heartbeat, it has brainwaves. And yes.. Being convenient is the exact reason. Why else would they get them? Combined, rape, incest, and genetic abnormals that would constitute an abortion are around 0.8% of actual abortions. So why would it make sense that out of the 664 thousand in, say, 2013 (51 million is the total) can be excused, because a child could have a bad life (very little Americans live under the poverty line) or because of abnormalities? (Less than 1%)
@Ultimatum, and birth control often not available? Any salary can afford $13 birth control. If not, it's $6 for a pack of condoms at a gas station. There's no excuse.
@Fun Facts 101, You realize a majority of abortions happen before the thing is even remotely human right? It's the same as when you jerk off and your jizz goes somewhere else besides inside a vagina. Sperm is technically an unborn child as well, but so undeveloped that it isn't considered a human. But that's not considered murder is it? Also, sometimes childbirth can cause the mother's health or even life to be at stake and the option to have an abortion should be there. Also, since your a pro-lifer im gonna assume you agree with other right wing ideals as well (correct me if im wrong). Why do you people care so much about the baby while in the womb, but not so much when it comes out? Why be so against stuff like medicaid and having a universal healthcare, that are made specifically to ensure the health and well being of both children and adults alike? Sometimes soon to be parents may find out that the baby will be in critical condition and they may not be able to afford to save it.
@K1lgore, Sort of like what happened with Jimmy Kimmel's baby recently. Luckily, he could afford the baby to have (i think heart surgery) that most average americans can't afford without going into crippling debt. Why not make sure that all Americans are able to have their babies/children saved even if they don't have the money. It shouldn't be like "well, it's their fault they don't have the money".
@K1lgore, that's a really bad argument. Firstly, no. Most abortions are at 20-24 weeks, when there are symptoms. By that time, it is just short of fully developed. Even at just 4 weeks, it already has its own heart, pumping it's own blood. And that sperm argument is weak. Everyone knows that's actually a child. Everyone knows sperm are just sperm until they have connected with the egg. And again, childbirth causing health problems is less than 1%. And, let me remind you, you're trying to justify killing defenceless children. Also, I don't understand why people think if they don't have insurance the hospital won't save you. They will, they are required to. You'll just have to pay full for it. But they could afford health insurance if there wasn't mandatory health care. People ask what trump will replace obamacare with. Guess what? Nothing. You don't replace a house fire you extinguish it. Healthcare was affordable and effecting for an incredibly large portion of the country before Obama
@K1lgore, what about the baby in England with universal healthcare where they wouldn't even allow them, although they had the money, to put their child through a treatment that could have saved it? How come all these countries with universal healthcare (Canada, England, ect) come to America for treatment? It's because capitalism works best.
@K1lgore, another example. Before Obamacare insurance for my entire family (mother, father, sister, me) was $300 a month. Top plan, like a $50 deductible. Now, for just me and my parents, it's around $980 a month with a $2000 deductible. You tell me what's more affordable. Because it certainly isn't "affordable" healthcare.
@Fun Facts 101, First off, if you want to talk about killing defensless children, i believe it was Donald Trump who said that he would kill the families of terrorists (yes including children). And as I said, your argument about it being an "inconvenience" is weak. It's a very thought through decision. Im sure it's a really tough one that nobody is ever happy about. All abortions have a strong reason behind them. Like I said, most are for the health and well being of the woman. I know someone personally who has had one, so don't ever call it simply getting rid of an inconvenience. About the baby saving thing, I know hospitals have to save the baby, but as I said, it can send those people into extremely crippling debt depending on the case.
On the healthcare thing: I agree that Obamacare was not perfect, but it has helped insure many more people who need health care and has saved the lives of many. Getting rid of it will cause millions to lose healtcare and tens of thousands to die.
@K1lgore, Obamacare needs to be altered, not destroyed
@K1lgore, here's some statistics.
Reason #1 Too Young/Immature. Not ready for responsibility (32% of total)
Reason #2 Economic (30% of total)
Reason #3 To avoid adjusting life (16% of total)
Reason #4 Poor relationship with father (12% of total)
Reason #5 Enough Children already (8% of total)
Women who had an abortion coo completed a survey. There's 98% of them having an abortion is not because of health problems. It's because it's convenient. Sorry, can't afford the baby? Kill it. It won't mind! Don't feel like having children? Just kill it!
And if you want to quote dumb shjt people that people in our "political spectrum" have said, I'd be happy to quote some Nancy p, Hillary Clinton, Lacy Green..
And no, it would not kill thousands. You know what it would do? Make healthcare affordable. Anything the government touches it ruins. So why trust them with your life? People were just fine without it.
@K1lgore, tell me, when does the baby become a baby, and not just "a clump of cells"
@Fun Facts 101, Listen man, we could go back and forth forever on this abortion thing, but it's late and I have to get up for work in the morning, so I'll say this as one last thing. Abortion should be a choice, it's what a woman decides to do with her body and nobody else should have a say in that besides her and the father.
Don't denounce what Trump said by pointing fingers. You're backing of Trump is hypocritical, that's all I was pointing out. Laci green and hillary are irrelevant to this conversation.
Thirdly, Yes it would kill literally tens of thousands because a lot of people on Obamacare literally cannot live without it. If you want to look up estimated statistics be my guest, but I believe a study came to that it would be I think around 20-somethingK to 90-somemthingK. So they just totally repeal Obamacare in one shot because it would literally kill people.
@K1lgore, it's not her body though. And to clarify, I'm not a trump supporter (Ben Shapiro for 2020) and I disagree with the last statement. But I enjoyed our debate and I wouldn't mind having a drink with you one day. Be safe at work,
@Fun Facts 101, Well I mean my last statement isn't an agree on disagree kinda deal, it's a calculated estimate on what will happen.
Anyway, I agree with you, I enjoyed the debate. I appreciate that you didn't resort to name caling and provided actual arguments throughout even though you disagreed. This is why I only get into political arguments on this app, if I try to have the same debate on youtube or twitter or something it'll be a disaster. Thanks for being a good sparring partner.
@K1lgore, YouTube: dude you're basically Hitler.
Other guy: listen here shjtlord I fvcked your mom
Hitler420xXx: y'all both gay stfu
@K1lgore, If all humans have rights to life, at what point does the mother's rights usurp those of the child? At which point do they not? Left-wingers are great at virtue signaling and I'm seeing a lot of it here. If you're going to argue for rape, life of the mother, and incest, first you have to admit that you're using 2% of abortion cases to defend the other 98% of 300,000 annual abortion cases. It's a convenience thing. It helps you sleep better to tell everyone you're a good person and that women need a choice. Sometimes the truth doesn't line up with your hurt feelings.
@Self Stimulation, Firstly, around 71% of abortions happen win the first 10 weeks after gestation (the last period they had) which is literally when the baby is barely barely developed, so it is not human yet, but literally a bunch of cells. (The 10 weeks itself is misleading as the baby's development is typically two weeks later than the last perion). This thing does not have rights as it is not a human, just blueprints for a human.
As the weeks go on, the percentage of abortions drops drastically, which is when the women who get abortions for health reasons most likely find out about them and having the baby would be a physical issue. Almost no abortions happen after 11 weeks (around 20%) and by week 16 and up, the percentage drops to around 5%, which is when the baby is actually developed. But at that point, those women only get abortions if absolutely neccesary.
The womans life usurps the childs while the child is still an undeveloped group of cells.
@Self Stimulation, A woman should be allowed to choose what she believes is best for herself. It doesn't matter if you think it's wrong. People just don't go dilly dallying around getting abortions, it's a tough and well thought out decision. Sometimes the truth doesn't match up with your feelings. You may think it's killing a baby, but it's not.
@K1lgore, had to jump in here. I don't mind people being pro-choice, as long as it's pro-informed-choice.
My girlfriend works as a midwife in the NHS (UK). It would be considered bad practice for her to describe an abortion to a pregnant woman the way you just did. She has to specify that an abortion is akin to killing a human life, as it happens all too often that a mother has an abortion, having been told it's 'just a clump of cells', and suffers extreme suicidal depression after the maternal realisation sets in.
Also, a foetus in utero can be referred to as a baby at any point post conception. There are some good pro-choice arguments, but 'it's not human yet', 'it's just a clump of cells' and 'it's my body' are not among them.
@Fun Facts 101, well I like the way you ended it. I'm pro-choice, but trust me when I say that I'm not about to go and be like, oh yeah you can just get rid of it. I believe it to be somewhat of a last resort. And after 6 months it's shouldn't be allowed. And the government shouldn't be able to decide what is best for a woman, I mean, I don't think a girl wants a bunch of old dudes in congress telling her what she can/can't do with her body. And another thing is that one argument in the Supreme Court case is that it somewhat violates the 13th amendment by forcing women to give birth. I don't think it makes a ton of sense, but I'm not a Supreme Court Justice, so yeah. Glad we could have a mature conversation about this though
