@CocoasBro, back when I had my yellow bellied slider I remember washing her shell and she loved it. Apparently too much can bring something called shell rot. She became a huge beast! A true killa! Ate all my fishes in the fish tank. When she ate my zebra loach named skeet-skeet I had to let her go. So I put my initials on her shell with non toxic, waterproof paint and set her free on the lake. A year later I went looking for her and saw her about a half a mile from where I left her... much bigger sunbathing and she had two smaller yellow bellied buddies with her. I felt like a real daddy that day for once. True story bro

@seeUpee, honestly I thought the same, like giving this turtle dog like characteristics made it cute but never knew if scrapping the excess stuff off shells was actually beneficial. It’s pretty cool knowing it’s true and makes them happy

I’ve seen her in a documentary. She does it every day for free and all the turtles know her and know she helps them. It’s kinda neat tbh
