*sets your car on fire* "Look, your car's temperature has changed before"
So you're saying there's a chance...
READ EVERY WORD
The pokemon fact got to me.
@daily joke, I like the dog part
@dont hate masturbate, I like the part where you realize at the end "Holy Shjt we're beyond fvcked, we're super fvcked!"
@daily joke, the "300 but with more clothing" and "various groups take turns sacking Rome" ones both got me lol
@daily joke, how though? Its too blurry for me, even on high-res
@daily joke, There were wooly rhinos?!
Donald Trump - "Fake news." Rest of the world - Rolls eyes.
@bradley1152, Well seeing as they're only taking a small snip of Earth's MILLIONS OF YEARS OF EXISTENCE to make a point... yeah, it's fake news
So around 5500 bc is about what it is now according to this chart
@Enigmatic Soul, if that's what you want to take from the chart....rather than the fastest increasing trend in earth's history....
@Enigmatic Soul, yeah, i dont think the instantaneous heats the alarming part, its the dramatically rapid rate at which the climate is changing, unparalleled since at least the last ice age, very possibly ever
@Welcommatt, something both you and @Hoban Washburne are missing is that this only goes to 20,000 BCE.
"In earth's history". I thought that the earth was a lot older than 21k ish years.
That's something that really bothers me about this picture. So many people don't realize this is a very, very tiny portion of the history of the earth and its temperatures.
@Welcommatt, 100% Pure Bullsh!t. This is not the fastest increasing trend in Earth's history. How about you don't pull sh!t out of your anus and slap it in the comment section like you're smart?
Sweet. A graph. Aw yeah! Future projections! Noice! It even has global average temperature guesstimates from 20,000 years ago! I wonder why it doesn't go back further.
@Tyrellious, so many people think this is the entire earth's history XD "the fastest temp rise in history!!!!"
@Tyrellious, Because earth is only 20,000 years old? Duh XD 😂😂😂😆👌💯
The answer is simple: no more babies, we just neuter the entire world and the last living human blows up the world with the nukes that we have placed within the core of the planet
Gotta love the dip following Ghengis Khan. They don't make environmentalists like they used to
Except that data is false....
@talmet, can you provide a source or evidence of more accurate data?
(Not being a smartass, legit question)
@RMB, can you provide a source for this picture? It has no scientific source listed or source at all. (Although I've seen it before) OP could have technically just drawn it cuz they felt like it
@QuinnB, I wasn't defending the picture, at all. Just asking for info
@RMB, according to this chart it hasn't been cold enough to snow on average at least 50% of the time in New York for 7000 years. Being from New York I can tell you that the average temperatures on this chart concerning many places it mentions are false. Being that it is wrong in many places I really don't see the point in arguing the few that it may be correct. Not to mention certain places have become colder in recent centuries and others hotter, yet this chart would not indicate that at all.
@QuinnB, the source is listed in the picture...and this is the worlds average temperature...not including regional and saisonal paterns...don't invite me to your party...
@SparkySparky BoomMan, this is a global average trend, so it is also constantly taking into account the areas that are never cold (like the places around the equator)
@QuinnB, it's from the webcomic XKCD. It's by Randall Munroe. He's basically Bill Nye squared.
@SparkySparky BoomMan, how does being from New York prove what it says is wrong? The areas mostly affected by climate change are those close to the equator and near the poles. So weather in New York doesn't seem to different, but it's been melting ice caps and harming nations along the equator. And while there have been cases of some places getting colder and others warmer, there's been a noticeable increase in temperature globally.
@SparkySparky BoomMan, this is not a chart of the exact temperature of everywhere all the time. It's an average. That means it's based off of data from everywhere at all times of year.
@PECM97, the picture says that in new York the average temperature was more than 0 degrees Celsius in 6000 bc. If the average is more than 0 than that means that an average winter isn't half the year its less (by winter I mean the time its cold enough to snow or freeze not the actual season as we know it). And if its true what it says then that means that in New York it snows less than a 1/5 of the year or the temp is at least 0C. Seeing as I live in New York and know that it snows nearly half of the year here, and If it doesn't it still gets far cold enough too. Therefore this picture is being deceiving at best and lying at worst.
@SparkySparky BoomMan, this diagram says that in 6000 BC the global average temperature was slightly above a 0 degrees Celsius difference than the 1961-1990 global average. This diagram also shows the difference in the average temps increasing over time, which it has been. Also it doesn't say anything about New York and it doesn't say that New York experiences weather outside of what naturally should. So this diagram still isn't lying
@QuinnB, there's a source at the top right corner
@RMB, I got sources listed in my other comment on this pic for you
@SparkySparky BoomMan, dude. Do you understand how an average works? The average temperature in central park last year was 14 degrees (57.2 F). (Source: https://www.weather.gov/media/okx/Climate/CentralPark/monthlyannualtemp.pdf) so....Yeah, I am afraid that your little theory is wrong.
@SparkySparky BoomMan, your response epitomises the lack of understanding. We are talking about global climate change, not temperature of a single city
@QuinnB, sources are listed on the right side near the top in gray
Except that data is within a very convenient period, if you literally step back a little further, you'll see the Earth has been changing in temperature for hundreds of thousands of years and has dealt with much more lethal gasses then the fumes coming from your pick-up truck. If you actually want something that's not fvcking propaganda, go look up Bill Whittle on YouTube
@Kekistan Ambassador, oh dear oh dear. Here, I've reposted something I wrote earlier. Hopefully you'll learn from it: a million years ago, there weren't seven billion people relying on predictable climate patterns for food and shelter so it didn't matter back then. Rise / fall in temperature by a few degrees and messed up seasons will impact millions and millions of people living near flood plains or relying on agricultural produce (e.g. all of us)
@Unkle77, oh dear oh dear, check your comment, f@ggot, I already responded to it
@Kekistan Ambassador, I've spotted the 12 year old 👏🏽😄🏆
@Unkle77, Yeah I'm actually 11, you can tell by my excessive use of inanimate sprites to express emotions because nothing else is capable of doing so anymore 😂😂😂💯💯💯💯😆👌
@Kekistan Ambassador, HURR DURR CAN'T REFUTE. COMPLETELY TRIGGERED. DOWNVOTE *autistic screeching*
Fellas the carbon dating system is flawed, and this data is so skewed in a way that it makes this data look monumental, there is very cyclical historical data on the temp. of the Earth and this assumed path of temperature at the end was hysterical, there are real world problems going on right now and this is what people are wasting their time on
@Praise Satin, we have over a million years of historical aggregate data concerning earth temperature changes if you look at this from a keyhole perspective going within the past 20,000 years than sure were fvcked. Now I'm not saying humans haven't had an impact on climate change , I'm arguing the statistical significance it has on a global trend. Go research the last million and you'll see how insignificant these temperature variations are in a historical context. Sources -https://www.giss.nasa.gov/research/briefs/hansen_15/ and https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperature_record and https://www.climate.gov/news-features/climate-qa/what’s-hottest-earth-has-been-“lately” . For the first two links you'll want to reference the ice core sections years 800,000+ , the last link references the info used in this picture. Any information can be skewed to make an argument but long term data in excess of 20,000 years does not support a "we're screwed" scenario imo
@Y0UR C0NSCIENCE, a million years ago, there weren't seven billion people relying on predictable climate patterns for food and shelter so it didn't matter back then. Rise / fall in temperature and messed up seasons could impact millions and millions of people living near flood plains or relying on agricultural produce (e.g. all of us)
@Unkle77, No, but there was... I don't know... Hundreds of species of massive, eating, breeding, living dinosaurs?
@Kekistan Ambassador, are you comparing the complex societies and civilisations of the last 500 years to dinosaurs? Christ...
@Unkle77, No, why are you bringing up food patterns and predictable climate when much larger cold blooded beings survived them millions of years ago? My house depends on a possible increase or decrease of a couple degrees? The Starbucks down the street does too? Or the city of Philadelphia? What's the difference between a complex society and a simple one when it comes to biological survivor
@Unkle77, also, learn how to spell civilization... Jesus Christ
@Kekistan Ambassador, oh my lord 🙏🏽
@Kekistan Ambassador, I spell civilisation in English, the correct way. You spell it in "American" 😂
Also I love 'Massive actions' lol... Fvcking hilarious. How are people this blind to what THAT MEANS
@Kekistan Ambassador, massive: exceptionally large. Action: the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim.
CLIMATE CHANGE IS A HOAX FOLKS. VERY BAD. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN
@Unkle77, Let's not question anything because it's racist. That sounds about right. Daily reminder that freedom is slavery!
@Kekistan Ambassador, questioning climate change doesn't make you a racist mate. It makes you a simpleton
@Unkle77, I know. So we just shouldn't question it. Indisputable! Let us give global elites and our governments more power, because us simpletons must bow down to their almighty unquestionable knowledge
The comments is the definition of cognitive dissonance
