It doesn't matter what you play one, but I draw the line when console fans try to say consoles are objectively better. They aren't. Just like PC'S aren't cheaper than consoles. You get the quality you pay for.
@UmActually, I think the console wars are really dumb. The amount of people sucking Sony's dick because they believe the false rumors and speculation that for example Xbox can't run 1080p, although a 4K games already exists. I find it dumb. I also find it dumb how Xbox fanboy's suck microsoft's dick. I understand exclusive games, they make you pick your console, but timed DLC on multi platform games are dumb, time gating anything is dumb. One such example is my favorite game at this point in time, destiny. They hold back some weapons and strikes off for a whole year, doesn't impact me directly, but it takes away from the possible content. I just want console wars to end. And for people to give a console where credit is due.
@TR8R, To give a console credit where it is due*
@UmActually, I don't believe consoles are better, I use both pc and console, but my own personal preference is console just because I like it better. Just an opinion though.
@UmActually, I prefer my PS4 over my PC, but perhaps that's just because I've always had a playstation or Xbox and only got a gaming PC a few years ago
@UmActually, pcs are more because they aren't just gaming Amma streaming devices, they are hardware customizable (and better software customization). Maybe that's what you mean by quality.
@TR8R, I personally prefer xbox and I'm on the bad end of that whole destiny thing, but I try not to let the console wars get to me. I wish I could play those amazing games like the last of us and uncharted but I chose xbox and that's how it works for now. I really want the zen meteor exotic sniper though and hawkmoon is my favorite gun in the game, I just had to wait for it.
@CynicalSir, I mainly meant output. PC gameplay and visuals are higher quality for a higher price.
@UmActually, See I prefer pc. PC gives you liberty to play with or without a console controller (ps4 included if you use an emulator) and it's like you're playing a console with all the fun of the pc! However online fps games or exclusives are an advantage to consoles which are very popular. They all have pros that others don't, even consoles amongst themselves. So love the game too, not only the machine that plays it.
@Ouija , True
@UmActually, consoles Are just Pc's With a different OS. Just like Apple and android phones. Its possible to upgrade them all
@UmActually, yea I am so sick of people calling PC's cheaper, where I live I built a PC about as powerful as a console using used parts and it was still $100 more expensive
@UmActually, I have a wii u. And I'm perfectly happy with it. Xbox one is fun too.
@TR8R, I'm an Xbox fan but doesn't mean I would never own a ps, each console has their perks and I agree with you fully. The console wars need to end and I haven't been playing destiny long but the exclusives is the only thing that makes me salty, not that one console or the other gets it, it's that I have to wait a whole year on my xbox to get it, exclusives should be a month long, three tops not a whole year.
@UmActually, you're right, on the topic of capabilities and power, PCs easily out preform all consoles. Consoles are cheaper, I see PC elitist say you can build a better PC for $400. No, you can buy a better graphics card for $400. Truth for me is I just consider consoles more comfortable, I can sit back and relax and not have to think about anything else. The UI is literally built just to do that. That said I do play both, I just play more on my consoles than my PC.
@UmActually, For $300 and a good knowledge of where to buy parts, you can build a pc that out performs any console currently on the market. If you fancy a controller, it's easy enough to hook one up to your pc. So for about the same price, you get better performance and more flexibility as to what you can do with your device.
@UmActually, pcs are cheaper if you build them cheaper, if you only count the difference in price between a normal CPU for computer needs and one for gaming, the gpu, your mouse and controller (if yourself so inclined), and headset then even my high powered build comes out less than Xbox when it first came out plus larger hard drive (499+100 for total of 1.5Tb). My build have me 4 Tb of harddrive space, a r9 390 videocard, 16gb of ram, a 4khz processor, 7 action mouse, and I reused an old headset. My total was 1,300-200 for basic processor-50 half of ram-100 for windows-160 for harddrive-80 for ssd-150 for motherboard=510 (310 for video card, 100 for better processor, 100 mouse and keyboard and other smaller accessories)
PC is still master race.
@Cenyoawakened, you clearly have never set up a PC by yourself before because if you had, you would realize you can set them up in the same way. It doesn't take 10 grand to be fancy.
@The Megaton Bomb, I agree with you, however, people who don't know what they're doing, like most when they start, can't build cheap PCs, so it shouldn't be a draw because many will drop several hundred on their first PC due to inexperience.
@The Megaton Bomb, actually I have built my own pc, spent about a grand on it, but the pricing wasn't my point to why I prefer my console for gaming, it was comfort. So, we done trying to start flame wars in a comment thread full of people who claiming they want the console/pc war to end now?
@UmActually, but we have things like r/pcmasterrace and part checklists and baseline checks to help people. It's also not hard as long as you know to compare numbers and check price comparisons. My videocard was one of the cheapest on the market and outperforms most nvidia cards and rivals the Titan and if you just look you will find things like that. The only excuse is laziness which we shouldn't accept as an excuse.
@Cenyoawakened, this isn't a flame war, this is a challenge for you to prove that you can't build you PC to plug into your tv the same way you would for a console and that you can't find a build better and cheaper. I already gave my significantly more powerful build and that it cost less even including some stuff already part of regular computers, so explain why you can't work hdmi and power plugs like you would for a console.
(Just a warning before I forget, steam boxes are nothing but ripoffs and do not count as anything more than as cash grab.)
@The Megaton Bomb, I never said a cheaper build was my goal. I had about a grand budget saved up and set aside. It's a pretty good build, it's handled every game I've played on it without issue (save for lords of the fallen, need to run that on normal, but I'm not super picky about that). And I can run an hdmi cable, I know how to change the refresh rate to reduce input lag (though I only use my tv instead of my monitor if I'm playing a game with friends). Frankly, I don't even know why you're spending your time making accusations of a guy you don't know on the funny pics app. So what is exactly your goal here?
@The Megaton Bomb, I look at it more as ignorance. People who see a game they want, like CSGO, or whatever, and they usually buy a PC because they are unaware, many give up due to the perceived cost and some continue on and learn from their mistakes.
@UmActually, most of you are wrong on this subject in one form or another. You can build a PC that can run as good as the console for the same price of the console. You can build a PC that can out per form a console significantly for about $1000. But here's the thing. You can spend $1000 and build a PC that is way more powerful than all the consuls out. But it'll still be cheaper in the long run because games for PC are cheaper a specially if you hit them on Steam sales. So by the time you 12 games on a PS4 or XBox plus the console you couldve bought a PC for $1000 the. Spent $100 and bought 10 games great on Steam sale. Not new release games mind you but games only a year or two old. Do have nothing against Consoles. I just prefer the reverse compatibility PC brings. Plus my PC is connected with an HDMI cable directly to my TV. So I have a 55 inch console essentially out of my PC. And I use the steam controller. And sometimes the PS4 controller.
@UmActually, Plus VR on the PC will be more compatible with games. Because unlike the PS4. People can mod games that are already out to support VR on the PC
@UmActually, to put simply. I have over 150 games on my custom-built gaming PC. I spent around $1200 building it. Overall price is still cheaper for the same number of games on a console. Plus I don't ever have to worry about not being able to play my games on the next version of the console. Because they will always be able to work on whatever PCI build. I'm not a PC elitist I'm just telling the facts. Value of games and usability and reverse compatibility. Plus less restriction and more uses make the PC better overall. But then again. I'm not a kid limited to what my parents get me and I'm also very knowledgable when it comes to building PC's. I studied it in high school. And I studied information-technology in college. I could've built the computer cheaper. But I splurged a little bit on the video card. The only restrictions I have our exclusive titles. Which I find to be pointless because exclusive titles limits the amount of money and sales game makers could potentially make.
But if I had to pick a console I like Playstation. Since it has the RPG titles I like most
One other thing. When it comes to PCs a lot of people think you just pop in a high-powered video card and there you go. This is not entirely true. If you're trying to build a computer with no budget this is true. But if you're trying to build a computer and stay within a specific budget. Going to keep on other parts and then just buying them all out powerful video card is not a good idea. Because even though you have a powerful video card. You're limiting factor will be in be your processor and RAM. And your video card will never touch it's limits because you're computer can't handle it. It's balancing specs when it comes to working with a budget. You need to push the limits of your processor while maintaining the same limits on your video card. If one is more powerful than the other then you're wasting potential.
@UmActually, I don't deny this is true. Simply because I don't know a single person who has an actual gaming computer so I can compare them. However I do know there are tons of people who buy the more expensive option and ardently argue that it is vastly superior in every way. I mean that is more or less what Mac users tend to do. I'm just saying I gotta actually see it one day to believe it can be that much better than consoles. It may be better but it can't be by much unless I am under imagining how it could be improved.
@George Feeny, I don't mean to offend any Mac users but nobody can deny in the past macs were in no way different than pcs other than price it may no longer the case and I don't care I only use my laptop for important emails I have to send or big purchases.
@Cenyoawakened, if you have all this then why are you saying that a PC can't function as or better than a console? Your entire point was that you prefer console because you can "lay back and enjoy it" as opposed to a PC. I challenged you to support that claim because I can't think of any reason that it is exclusive to consoles outside of functional fixedness. Explain how a PC cannot take the place of a console for large screen purposes?
@UmActually, then that's just their own laziness, people are entitled to the fruit of their laziness but not the freedom to think that their lazy knowledge is fact. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
@George Feeny, the reason we say that it is superior in every way is because we can prove it. We can build a basic gaming rig that is marginally better in price and performance than both consoles and we can prove it because we can compare specifications. We can also customize said device, we can take it to higher levels, we can use it as a gaming platform and an actual computer, we can use them in every situation that we can use a console, games are cheaper, online functionality is more reliable, you can connect across platform (PC vs Mac vs Linux) and builds, the variability doesn't affect playing level except for cheaters are better at cheating (big whoop), we aren't forced to pay for live subscriptions, we can play with controller *or* keyboard, we have more exclusives, and we can watch porn on our devices. The only thing we don't have is PS exclusives which doesn't matter because that little big planet and the order, and if you have windows you can play xbone exclusives.
@The Megaton Bomb, I never said my PC can't out function. In fact I blatantly said that capability wise yes PCs do in general out do consoles pretty easily, or did you get upset and stop actually reading what I was saying? So I say for the 3rd time now that my console sees more gaming due to comfort. The UI is built for sit down and start gaming scenarios, and no I'm not saying it's hard to click on an icon before you start accusing me of that. Also when I buy a game on a console I never have to run into a crash and think, ok time to spend 2 hours in the forums to figure out a fix. But seriosly dude, you're sitting here issuing challenges to a person you dont know over a funny pics app because, quoting him incorrectly, all because he plays more on console than PC. Did something shjtty happen in your life that's making you ornery? If so, ok then sorry you need to take your frustration out over the Internet. If not, if this is just how you get your kicks, re-evaluate your hobbies. If you
@The Megaton Bomb, really just can't stand that someone finds playing on console more comfortable, then you are the kind of person that makes up the "PC master race" stereotype. Whatever it is, I hope you get it straightened out and realize that trying to pick a fight with a stranger over something so petty will get you nowhere in life.
@Cenyoawakened, no I read that you said you prefer consoles for comfort, which I have just now seen the clarification as to what is the comfort, and I still say that's narrow-minded because big picture and windows 8 are both console based OS'. As well, unless the game is broken or piece of hardware/software malfunctioning, a simple uninstall and reinstall will fix it better than waiting for a patch like you would have to on a console.
Since you think it's normal to try to insult someone over your perception that someone has insulted you, I'll point out your fallacies in argument too. There is never a point where discourse is not valid be it place, time, or subject and never is there a point where a claim is valid without support. Rules 0 of argument.
Make no assumptions about what the other is thinking unless it is a preemptive counter argument, to do so is ad hominem when not a re: hearing.
@The Megaton Bomb, actually you did insult me. "This is a challenge for you to prove that you can't build you PC to plug into your TV etc." Here you claim I have a lack of intelligence on the matter. As one should not assume what the other is thinking, one shouldn't assume the other's level of knowledge. As it happens I have a degree in network technology administration (if you can believe it they even tach you how to build computers in such a major) and I work in IT support. You also in your first statement assumed that I'd never set up a PC before, so don't sit and think fallacy free yourself. But my point here is, someone on the Internet has a differant opinion than you, get over it.
@The Megaton Bomb, quotes are used for their original meaning not their original words. Just because I "misquoted" you without changing your overall meaning, does not mean an argument isn't valid.
Rule of argumentum ad logicam.
A special type of ad hominem of belittling someone then feigning pity requires a special fallacy of itself, mostly for the sake of what it makes you look like to those who dissect your argument.
Complex question with no answer, name sums it up; in the future assume ad hominem when involving a person.
You didn't do it, but you accused me of doing it so I'm calling you out on it.
Rule of Strawman.
And rounding back to the whole "what's making you ornery", you called me ornery then proceeded to insult me in the same way you accused me of doing.
Rule of Tu Quoque.
Now, do you want to bicker like children or discuss like adults?
@Cenyoawakened, it's a challenge of validity, not a challenge of intelligence. Put it back in the context of the the neighboring sentences and there is still no reference to intelligence, just a question of possibility. If you continue reading my other half before you cut me off, you will see that assumption of assumption is double bad. I never attach you, just your point. You think Einstein never had initially incorrect ideas?
@The Megaton Bomb, frankly with you, I'd rather do niether because I can say right now it won't get either of us anywhere. And I would like to state that to the rule of discourse being valid regardless of place, time, or subject, the internet is not a place, it is a medium, if you want to go try and persuade someone that their OPINION on something as silly as playing on a console rather than a PC, go find someone and do it face to face. And if you really think saying and I quote "you clearly have never set up a PC," the statement you opened up with, wouldn't be taken as an assumption that I have little intelligence or experience on the matter, you should learn more about communication before calling people out on fallacies. Good night.
@The Megaton Bomb, and one last note on you calling out fallacies Rule 3, you challenged me to prove something that I can literally not prove to you (that I can build a PC etc) even if you gave me your email and I sent you pictures you could accuse me if finding them online. Just as much a fallacy as a complex question with no answer, this goes back to using the Internet as a medium, we're we it in person, I'd have no trouble showing you my rig. Just thought I'd put that information out there for future reference.
@Cenyoawakened, you could always simply describe your build, the question was not literally "can you put one together" but "can you design a build that outperforms console for less" which in no way understates intelligence beyond the same lack of knowledge that most people who aren't computer scientists share. Only difference with myself and the rest is I have made my mistakes and done my research as to what's best on the market and did a numbers comparison. Since your issue apparently isn't the cost but the "feel", can you tell me why none of the major OS like windows 8 and steam OS or any of the thousands of gaming Linus OS did not meet your tastes better than the already clunky Xbox or PS4 OS?
The medium is irrelevant for discussion, it factors into neither place nor subject, and only facilitated discussion by allowing people to do their research in between each post instead of relying on the same ignorance they had last claim.
@The Megaton Bomb, people call things silly all the time in discussion, and it's because they genuinely are silly. The only difference between the viewpoint is that one doesn't see it because it's what they have always known (and for once I'm not talking about religion on this subject).
This isn't an argument over the assumption of extraplanar power, it's a mere crunching of numbers. The simple matter of fact is that you can make a PC for less and have it perform better than a console and it still functions as a computer to boot. If you have a computer already, you can upgrade into a gaming platform that far outpaces any console.
@The Megaton Bomb, ok. Well it's been a few years since I've put mine together, in my original statement I didn't consider price drops, which in hindsight I'm sure they have. That however is kind of beside my point in this discussion. My point from here is right from the get go, I didn't really want to "discuss" why I find my console more comfortable with someone insists that there is no viable reason for it in the first place. I've been trying to completely deter this "discussion" for a while now but you just keep going. Why you're so hooked on this, I will never know. And as a last note, I actually don't feel the xbox one's interface is as clunky as people claim, I've actually had no trouble with it since I got it, it actually runs pretty smooth. That aside, yeah, you're the one asking for this "discussion," and I didn't want to. So do me a favor and let it go.
@The Megaton Bomb, if you'd ever like to strike up a discussion with someone in the future, I suggest you start with something more like, "would you care to explain why you feel more comfortable on your console?" OR "when was the last you looked into parts? If cost is an issue, I could direct you to a website with some better prices." Rather than "you clearly have never set up a PC by yourself before..." because frankly that came off as outright snobbish, not as a tone setter for dialogue.
@IdeasAreHard, yeah, but that $100 is added functionality. How well can you browse the web or do work/school related activities on a console? And they mean it's cheaper in the long run. When the PC is outdated, you can upgrade a couple parts instead of buying a whole new machine. And there is no denying the fact that games are cheaper on PC.
@Cenyoawakened, I would point out that clunky doesn't refer to existence or lack of interface errors but the time it takes to get something opened because of positioning but it's mostly moot.
I enjoy discussion because there very well could be some aftermarket product for a console that tips the scales and I would learn something. People play devils advocate for that reason, you learn more about your own ideas and opinions. I personally don't understand why people wouldn't want to take the time and learn (aside from simply not having the time), but I also question substance use and people look at me funny for that too.
It is my recommendation to you simply as a basis of "non-face to face" argument that any perceived non-humorous tone be ignored because text will naturally come off bland and people have habits in text like they have in speech that could easily be misinterpreted when text alone. If the statement challenges character, it challenges character regardless of tone, but...
@The Megaton Bomb, it challenges a skill (ie "you clearly have not built a PC before") assume it as a challenge of validity of statement because that's how some people speak, myself included. It's easier when it's someone you know like a friend, but we don't know each-other so it is a learning experience on argument itself for both of us. To me, that is a good thing about argument mediums like this one.
Then you see nintendo dead in the background
I don't care what you pay on our prefer, in the end is personal opinion. Comparing systems is like comparing favorite colors, you're getting nowhere and making yourself look like an idiot.
@Edwin VanCleef , BLUE MASTER RACE, man that would have been racist if my favorite color was white
@Gay Rattlesnake , But not if it was black
@Edwin VanCleef , no that would have been racist too I just thought it would have been too wordy if I included black
@Edwin VanCleef , this should be top comment.
PC Mustard Rice!!!!!!
I guess Funny Pics are part of the PC master race
@Citizen Nappa, FP knows the truth.
@Maiq the Liar, I think the whole thing is stupid, console gamers are lying to themselves if they ever say they're better than PC but PC players think the newest gens run like ps2s or something
@Citizen Nappa, most of us realize the difference between the PS2 gen and current gen, but consoles are in no way superior. Plus, a good gaming pc is also a good workstation. Good luck using an XBone for office work, programming or writing in general.
@Maiq the Liar, thanks for just dismissing the first half of my comment
This would be better if it was pc gamers against console gamers and the crowd was non gamers
@Scarlet Pumpernickel, the joke is that the pc gamers are so far above the console gamers that they watch them fight for sport.
Pc master race!
PC MASTER RACEEEE
I have to say, I appreciate this far more now that I finally joined the PC master race
Aye why isn't my N64 in that fight?
Nintendo = Ralph
Moe : OK, Ralph gets one practice stab.
Ralph : Yay! *stabs himself through stomach*
PC Master Race! Don't get me wrong, I still play consoles, but LSPDFR is awesome!
@tichenord, for those that aren't aware, LSPDFR is a mod for GTA V. Check it out!!
can we just shut the f*ck up about the console wars? its one of the stupidest thing ive heard besides my life story
The Wii U is the monkey sitting in the corner eating its own poop.
Wii U is not getting involved in this shjt
@DaddyWurzel, since only six people bought it, it shriveled up and died
@Gay Rattlesnake , xbox one at that rate sold 9 units
PC Master Race
Repost from way back when.
