I don't think I've ever separated my colors and whites; and I've also never had any bleeding onto my whites in the wash
@Soulless at birth, so... back in the day laundry detergent made colors bleed like crazy. But the future is now, and has been in the last idk 30 years or so and it no longer does that. The only reason to separate clothes is if you’re bleaching or have a ton of black clothes that you don’t want to fade or get light colored fuzzies on.
@Leslie Knope 2020, yeah yeah, the separate mentality is a relic of the past blah blah blah
The real problem here is Big Laundry spreading misinformation
@Soulless at birth, join us. DOWN WITH LAUNDRY! DOWN WITH LAUNDRY!
@Leslie Knope 2020, I wanna also say that the first wash of something should be the only time you separate them cause that first wash is when it's most likely to bleed if any other time
@Soulless at birth, if you only wash with cold water then it doesn’t matter. Colors can bleed with warm or hot water and some people used bleach for whites which is why you would wash them separate
@Soulless at birth, I remember my mom at one point had labeled baskets for colored and white clothing. Aside from sounding a bit like segration signs from the fifties, this was a massive pain in the aśs because mom was so insistent about it, and would get on our cases every time we put the wrong clothing article in the wrong basket. This was, like, ten years ago.
@Soulless at birth, eh, I’ve had some blues and reds bleed into my whites before so I still separate. I also wash on hot.
@Leslie Knope 2020, there are still some fabrics that don’t hold the dye too well, and I’ve had a few things pinkened or grayed over the years. Not common, but I always give anything vibrant colored a couple washes before I’ll include it in a mixed load.
Oh ok! *throws whites with colors on hot water with bleach*
@megamanx181x, this is why men need a woman to do the laundry
Ok, wash a new pair of jeans with other clothes and get back to me
@Not him again, I do that, whats happened in your experience?
@Dolorous Fvcking Edd, they bleed onto your other clothes
I separate by work clothes and non work clothes
Then why do my socks turn grey when washed with my black pants? Huh must just be part of that misinformation.....
riiiiight.....*looks at a white shirt I turned fvcking green*
