@Somervillage, it’s a bit petty but I think they ruin about everything..nothing grinds my gears more than the fact that most mobile devices, or ways to communicate, have had either a physical full keyboard or an on screen keyboard, auto correct, the feature that finishes words for you after a couple letters, voice to-text, and yet people still PURPOSELY type like this: how r u bb, y u not lik my post on insta???

@Steve Lichman, I mostly agree, but there’s a few places I accept it and embrace it. And that’s MMO auction houses. Those are really the only places I think that extreme shorthand is acceptable, heck even required most of the time. Messages go fast you need to convey information tat can be consumed in about the time it takes to blink. But it has no place in slower places.

@AceWolf456, In something like that is fine, it’s just so frustrating to me to see people type like that while sitting at a computer, with an entire aśs keyboard, making a Facebook post or something.. my boss (who shows off his giant flip smartphone) still types like this and I’m not even sorry, I don’t care who you are, I lose respect for you.. I know it’s petty like “show me on the doll where r and u hurt you” but It’s not saving you anytime, it’s just not

@Steve Lichman, I appreciate people that type like that because it allows me to quickly identify them and ignore everything they have to say. Maybe this is just because I’m an English major and actually care about this kind of thing, but my attitude has always been that if you can’t be bothered to fully articulate your point, and present it in a coherent and cogent manner, why should I bother to listen?

The only comedian I know of (or at least can think of off the top of my head) who was cancelled was Kathy Griffin. It supposedly ruined her career. I didn't know her name before the backlash from that event. I know her name after it and that's all. Can't much speak to how well received her efforts have been pre nor post. Dave Chappelle to his credit I don't think is one of those whiny moronic bjtches who cries about being canceled while doing a show for a major platform. I believe he did joke about it though. He's a comedian. Literally his job. It's pretty difficult for a comedian to actually get canceled. Their fan base can change though. Again, all fine. Plenty of comedians have pissed off some of their old fans and have gained new ones. Many, many comedians have pissed off news anchors and politicians and talking heads. Frequently a comedian's job. Ex: George Carlin.
Anyone else think short formed words just ruin a meme?
