Just make everything a mimic. That treasure chest? A mimic. That chair? Another mimic. No puzzles. Only mimics.
@BecauseShutUp, the door to leave the mimic dungeon? Another mimic.
@BecauseShutUp, sounds like you're playing with 1st edition rules. Every damn thing in that game was a freakin mimic. The section on mimics in the source books was nearly 20 pages long!
@BecauseShutUp, actually better yet, make everything except the first chest they find a mimic. First chest is full of perfectly normal loot. Then just when everyone is about to give up on loot? It’s not a mimic again. Even make die rolls so they thing it’s “random”.
@Ultimatum, and that mimic?
@eleven, what about it?
@Your Waifu, is there a mimic inside the mimic
@eleven, only if it's pregnant.
Had a puzzle once where in one room there was a door that had an inscription basically saying "state your loyalty". In another room was a huge painting that had a plaque called "the loyalty oath". They legit could not figure out to recite the writing on the plaque in front of the door.
Randomly midway through, just scream: "Thats it! You completed the puzzle!" Giving them no closure.
They'll also regularly think things are incredibly complex puzzles when they aren't even puzzles to begin with. This also applies to traps, as so many players just walk right into obvious traps or think everything is a trap when there are none.
@Your Waifu, last few games I've run I tell the party ahead of time that there are absolutely no traps because they make the game take forever. And what do they do? Look for the traps that I explicitly said that I didn't include.
You see a table with a big red button and a sign that reads, "Do not press this button." What do you do?
