Playing board games and spending time with people is better that playing video games by yourself all day
Change my mind
@TheCoolestBean, you're not wrong.
@TheCoolestBean, Now hear me out on this. You can play board games online at home with your friends on the internet without having to put pants on to go outside. Checkmate Totally normal and socially adept individual.
@Lennyface, that works, but there’s always that social boundary when playing online. When you invite friends over, and you sit there playing games and eating food, and just having fun, those are the real good times.
@TheCoolestBean, you can play some board games solo too. I do agree that video games have lost the play together aspect, with the push to online play. I much prefer playing with people in the same room and people I know, than 12 year old americans who call me N00B.
@TheCoolestBean, i see your point but i get distracted way too easily and board games can go on too long and i just get bored after a while
@SpankieMcGee , well just sitting there and playing the game is no fun. You have to have things to do, crack jokes, make conversation. There are also games that take like fifteen minutes to play.
@TheCoolestBean, yeah but none of my friends would want to play a board game that short. Id rather just watch them play and talk to them while they play and when I get bored i can go fjck off somewhere else
@SpankieMcGee , you don’t just play one short board game, you bring a couple so that you aren’t just hanging out for half an hour and then leaving.
@TheCoolestBean, still doesn't really appeal to me. Im not saying you're wrong its just not my thing. I guess im Patrick rn but its true for me
@SpankieMcGee , well ok, if it’s not your thing that’s cool man. Have fun whichever way appeals to you.
@TheCoolestBean, Working retail has severely diminished my desire to do hanging out. And even though I like the things mentioned above I do not want to commit to a long campaign since I like to have my schedule open for any free time I have to choose what I would like to do. That and I have already tried going through a campaign with a few of my friends. Two ditched the story, and all but one of the remaining players made some parts drag on and on because of their atrocious decision making, but we went with majority rules votes and myself as well as one other player would always be the minority in the votes, so I have no real desire to play with those other players again.
@TerryColdfire, well oof. Really that’s all there is to say
@Lennyface, no pants, you say?
@TheCoolestBean, in all seriousness though yea othing beats playing board games with friends in person.
@TheCoolestBean, playing single player video games and not being forced to interact with people is better than contrived, socially awkward, impossible to coordinate because other people’s schedules board games.
Change my mind
@Hot Coffee, the point of friends is that they don’t care that your socially awkward. If they are actually your friends they should be able to enjoy hanging out with you. Now lining up peoples schedules is a little tough, but all you have to do is plan a day or two one or two weeks from that current day. Eventually everyone will have a day off.
@TheCoolestBean, what are these “friends” you speak of, are they vegetable or mineral?
@Hot Coffee, oh well uuum... “friends” are neither vegetable or mineral, they’re more human in form. They are humanoid figures that you spend time with to act like complete idiots without judgment.
A mythical creature then, seems appropriate for D&D.
@Hot Coffee, when amongst friends you gain +5 charisma, +3 in barter, as well as +(1 per friend) in defense for strength in numbers.
@TheCoolestBean, truly, mythical AND powerful, if they have stacking stats these must be magical beasts
@Hot Coffee, yes normally “friends” come in groups of 3 or 4, but the truly most powerful is called a “best friend.” These are only found once or twice and provide the best stats, +5 health regen when hurt, + 6 luck, and + 8 in attack. All this for the sacrifice of - 3 intelligence stats
@TheCoolestBean, you stretch credulity to the very limit! I suspect I am being trolled now.
@Hot Coffee, if I was trying to B E A N you it would have already happened
I wish I had friends to play dnd with in a dim lit basement in my currently nonexistent nerd friend's mom's basement, while she brings us cookies and milk and I have to call my dad to ask if I can sleep over because we're not done with the game. It's one of those childhood memories I wish I had.
@A pet named Steve, been watching a lot of stranger things lately?
@A pet named Steve, this hurts more than I care to admit. Like the high school sweetheart I never had
@ThePandaPool , haha it's been a while since I watched it but you're right, I kinda described what they had
@Juggernaut315, yeah, same with that. Somewhere in 10th grade I stopped believing that that will happen to me.
@A pet named Steve, I've got a dim lit basement you can stay in.... and dont worry, your dad said you can stay.... forever
@A pet named Steve, honestly, both are highly overrated. Playing D&D as an adult while using your spouse as DD is the better experience, trust me. Also the high school sweetheart thing isn't the best either. Also You dont want to get married after high school. People change a lot from 18 to 25.
@A pet named Steve, i feel you steve, your words hit home, to pass the loneliness might i recommend heroes and halfwits or twits and crits its an AH and Funhuas D&D show respectively
@OmegaExceed, i'll Check that out then, thank you!
@ThePandaPool , you do have a point. But I think it'll take a long time before I get a boyfriend. Or play dnd. Or play dnd with said boyfriend...
@A pet named Steve, Np friend also if you are into mystery science theatre they do something similar called theatre mode but thats members only im afraid but 14 days are free
@OmegaExceed, ah well I'll just have to watch it on those 14 days then haha
@A pet named Steve, I would give my right arm to have that
@A pet named Steve, I really wish I could help you out Steve. All I can say is that I know you can do it. You're awesome enough that you should have the confidence you need to do anything.
@ThePandaPool , it means a lot. Sadly I lack all kind of confidence. Oh well. Thank you, really ^^
@A pet named Steve, we don't have basements in Australia :(
@A pet named Steve, there's a website my friends and I use called roll20.net. you can find, create, and play dnd games online with it. It's fantastic for if there's no one local you can play with
@A pet named Steve, this is one of the things i really enjoy doing with my wife and s making memories like that it also helps that she is an awesome cook/ baker so we got cookies covered
@A pet named Steve, #bestcomments
I’m Patrick in this situation. Like I said in my last post I have terrible luck when it comes to dice so I stay away from these games based purely off of luck.
@Dimir FTW, depending on your DM you may not use the dice much. That said, depending on how imaginative you are, bad luck on dice rolls can be a lot of fun.
Now all that said, if you dont wanna play, you dont want to play.
@Dimir FTW, Roll enough dice and your luck will change. Here's a code to the FP D&D Discord, if you want to try. https://discord.gg/xNzht9
@Dimir FTW, i mean it’s not a competition based game. So doing good/bad on the dice doesn’t determine your fun
@The Freaking FBI, 😱
@Not A Wolf, 🤨
@The Freaking FBI, I was just surprised I didn’t know
@Not A Wolf, what? That we have a D&D group? We do, check it out if you like.
@Dimir FTW, sometimes rolling low and having bad luck is more fun "imma try to seduce the female cyclops" rolls a 1. DM - "you whip it out, trip fall over and start crying after falling on it"
@The Freaking FBI, As someone who posts D&D stories on here frequently, even I was unaware.
@Catbug, if you like d&d check it out, it's where I found my party.
Maybe they know that they will get completely int the game and it will take up a ton of their time and they just don’t want to do that.
I would love to have a group of friends invite me to play dnd with them, but none of my friends play
Pretty understandable, try enticing them with a roleplaying system that is actually good instead
t. Person who will complain endlessly about how 5th edition is bad but never actually get his group to stop playing it
We all know the real reason is because no one wants to wait 8 hours for goddamn character creation.
Jokes on you, I have friends who want to play and want me to DM I just dont know how so we dont play
