I worked on a lexus that got struck by lightning.... Took out a lot of wires, battery, almost all computer modules, and one tire (path to ground) almost totalled the car! Had it in the shop for a month because we had to replace stuff that was visual and then as issues came up. What a nightmare :(
@theboatandcarman, that sucks, lexus makes beautiful cars
Don't run a red....I'm always watching
Highlander! There can be only one!!!!
I found out today that you xan in fact tail slide a front wheel drive car, if you hit black ice on an on ramp. I also found out that I can hold that slide and bring the car back out of it. And lastly, I found out that I can hold my bowels better than I thought.
Do you know the safest place to be if your outside in a lightning storm is actually ur car
@Slickrick, virtual faraday cage, surrounded by metal with a path to ground.
@Sleeper, yeah but u forgot about the four rubber tires at the bottom
Zeus has spoken..
Striking. I'm so sorry.
@Stewie3345, cars are designed to act as faraday cages in event of electrocution (or lightning strike) in order to protect the occupants, however I'm both certain that 80% of the parts in his car are rekt and doubt his insurance will cover lightning strikes.
@Dr Simon Acula, not really 'designed to' but, yes that's the effect.
@Dr Simon Acula, I wonder if you would have to ground the car afterwards? Like if the wheels insulated you from the ground so your car becomes charged. So if you stepped out, you would connect your charged car to the ground an get electrocuted.
@Tsaltydog, depends on what the paint and chassis is made of.
@Dr Simon Acula, lightning strike would typically be covered under non-collision, or comprehensive, coverage. So long as they have full coverage and not PL/PD, it will pay.
@Tsaltydog, with enough voltage, steel-belted radials will conduct electricity.
Crap... I was the 666 person to up vote...
