All I can hear is Caboose when Freckles fires his rifle
Something I've observed and would like to share on the internet. From what I can find on the internet, the main, modern, use of this flag is to represent right-wing libertarianism, who's is very laissez fairer and anti-tax. In VA you can choose to pay extra for a vanity license plate with this flag on it. And they are pretty much everywhere. So people are voluntarily paying more taxes to tell other people that they want to pay less taxes? I don't get it.
@CHEisme, The colonists were never concerned about paying taxes, they were concerned about the fact that the British didn't let them have a say in all of this and that the British were simply imposing their will on the colonies. That's what pissed them off.
@TheRatMan, "main, modern, use". Not original use. The original use is completely irrelevant because we all have representation in government. We may not like them, or whatevs, but they are there.
@CHEisme, I've never seen anyone use the flag as a way to say "I don't want taxes." Mostly I see that it's saying they don't want big government to come in and run all aspects of people's lives. We have a government and that's cool and all and taxes are a necessary evil but I do not want the government to decide everything I'm allowed to do/buy/think
@Richard Cypher, big gov't needs big taxes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Richard Cypher, ok, but to someone who views the flag as you do, what are your views on the vanity plates. I just find the purchase of one to be a bit hypocritical, and the plate itself as an oxymoron.
@CHEisme, choosing where your hard earned 'tax' money goes is quite liberating.
