@Lonely Monkey Fart, [season 7 spoilers]: long story, but Ned Stark (his "father") is actually his uncle. His real parent are Lyanna Stark (Ned's sister) and Rhaegar Targaryen. Lyanna asked Ned to protect him before she died because this other dude (Robert) was in love with Lyanna and probably would have killed the kid if he found out. So Ned pretended it was his bastard son

@Kylo shot first, Long story. He was raised as Jon Snow, but only like 6 ish people (presumably 1-3 living) knew about who he truly is, Aegon Targaryen. Then new things were found out by his friends and now more people know.

@Vesrox, well, considering every Targaryen I've seen up the this point (about halfway through season 2) has had snow white hair, it is pretty dang shocking, especially since hair color was the entire basis of Ned figuring out that Joffrey wasn't the King's true son
