*presses ‘Muh wage gap button*
“The wage gap is simply the average earning of men and women working full time. It does not count for different job positions, hours worked, or different jobs. It has nothing to do with discrimination”
*tosses wage gap button over the shoulder*
@MCPON John 117, I love ShoeOnHead
@Natural Sarcasm , me too. She’s cute and perky and I love how she says bye at the end of her videos.
@MCPON John 117, someone literally downvoted the truth. What a world we live in.
Apparently women can’t wear pants.
@prxjxct, what is this? France?
So i guess men can't cross streets with those signs anymore
@Pvt BB Ghanoush, not unless your busting out that fabulous summer dress you bought during this last winter clearance. I know I am, girlfriend!
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, oh em goodness did you see those leopard print jeggings?
I really think the person who came up with that name needs to be shot.
@Pvt BB Ghanoush, naw you just say ladies first so if someone runs a red your safe
It is literally illegal to pay women less. The wage gap is them averaging out wages without factoring the human into it
@Elmato, it’s illegal, but it still happens. I doubt it happens as much as feminists say by a long shot, but just because something is illegal doesn’t mean it isn’t happening anymore.
@Fuggles, are you factoring everything? And this applies to legal citizens of 1st world countries, not illegal citizens or 3rd world countries
@Elmato, have you ever met a statistician? It is literally their job to factor in everything you just said. To say that every single study that has ever shown evidence to women sometimes being paid less for equal work is simply a product of them ignoring blatantly obvious extraneous variables is just kind of naive. Now don’t get me wrong, the amount of places that pay women less than men is probably very very very small, but to say it literally never happens any more because it’s illegal is just silly.
@Fuggles, The problem could be solved if people weren't afraid to talk about their salaries their co-workers. Like you can find out who's being paid significantly less (like not accounting for any raises from time with the company) and can try to have a sit-down with their boss.
@Fuggles, since it’s illegal, the proper response to suspecting discriminatory pay is to report them for investigation. There are entire departments who exist solely to investigate these types of abuses. You don’t protest someone breaking the law, you report them.
@I Are Lebo, agreed. Which is why you see from time to time companies getting sued for intentionally not equally paying or flat out refusing to hire women on the news. But like WifitheRouter said, since people don’t like talking their salaries, some offending companies fall through the cracks.
@Fuggles, a lawsuit is not the same thing as a criminal investigation.
As for comparing salaries, that’s not how you determine discriminatory pay. At least, not on its own. If you aren’t comparing hours worked, quality of work, going above and beyond the bare requirements of the job, and assertive negotiations, you’re not seeing the whole picture.
It’s the entire reason why the wage gap myth won’t freaking die. People only look at the factors that vindicate their worldview and they ignore the factors that contradict it. Women are not paid less than men for doing the same job. They are paid less because they do less. Some of them are actually paid more, and surprise surprise, it’s because they do more.
The feminists are invading funny pics... RELESE THE TOXIC MASCULINITY!
@Luciferthefalln1, *starts ripping trees out of ground while fighting bears while charging my watch and growing my condom*
@Luciferthefalln1, this rally doesn't require pants, does it?
Cause I got news for you...
@Drunk Pantless Uncle, No because pants have become unisex now, the only way to offend them is doing our version of a slut walk... which includes toxic masculinity, lots of dicks, sexy women posing on cars and of course, chicken nuggets.
You know, they could have just made the sign. This isn’t some massive leap in equality, it’s just a street light. The “news” article really doesn’t serve any purpose here.
The wage gap is a myth
@Newguy39, Its just a propaganda tool for them or, really bad interpretation.
If that's equality to you then you never knew what inequality ever was to begin with.
So.... And excuse me for lack of life experience, but I have only worked retail, and fast-food... And. In those few jobs women were paid the same amount as men. Is it.. Like... Factory jobs or office jobs that are like that? Or...? Like.. What jobs are not paid the same?
@JacieTwisted, None of them, by law you cannot give 2 people differing pay for the same job. The thing they keep calling "the Wage Gap" is actually the Earnings Gap, and it's a real thing. But that doesn't make it a bad thing. It merely means that men on average make more money per paycheck because they tend to work higher paying jobs like construction and other labor jobs while women on average tend to work lower paying jobs like most office jobs. Obviously my description is very paraphrased and there is more to it than just what I have transcribed, but this is the gist of it.
@Jaune Arc, thank you
@JacieTwisted, Kinda hard to pay people less than minimum wage.
But go into academics and you'll find examples of the wage gap in action.
@Jaune Arc, it's incredibly illegal to pay people differently because of their demographic, and would be an easy lawsuit. Unfortunately it is a myth.
The wage gap is actually much more of a systemic issue regarding raising a family and therefore more of a motherhood gap. Women who are not mothers actually earn 96 cents to the dollar. The reason the US wage gap is at 81 cents to the dollar is because when couples have kids more often women decide to take time off to raise it since in our country there is much more maternity leave than paternity leave available. In this time that women take off their husband is working and getting promoted and raises and by the time the mother comes back (if she comes back) to the workforce she’s making much less money from the time missed (thus creating the “wage gap”)
@cooksy123, that's too much logic! The people screaming REEEEE, will start up again!
Sure.. a traffic signal will really help women go far.
That sign still implies that women are defined by wearing dresses so the whole ide is stupid from the get-go
@PunnyBaker, exactly. What they should have done is given her big ol tattas. That’d do the trick.
Y’all know that women don’t just major in gender studies right? This is kinda stupid
@YoYoMango, they do when their profile picture looks like hers
It does not look like she is walking, though. It looks like she really has to pee.
At least one woman must have, how else did this sign get made?
@Simetricwl , they watched a Pinterest vid on how to make a template with electrical tape
