A humble man doesn’t have to say they’re humble
@Any The Useless, same thing applies to smart people
He is as humble as Drax.
@Sir Borksalot , Or even more so...
Hey it's that super stable genius that's the least racist person anyone has ever interviewed. Good thing God gave him a very good brain.
I kinda feel sorry for “electric fence” pence, he’s a real politician who has to constantly be associated with the rollercoaster that is Trump.
On the other hand, he supports electrocuting gay people, so he doesn’t get ALL of my pity.
@YUNoJump, its a stretch to say he supports electrifying gay people. He doesn't think gay conversion therapy should be illegal, and left wing media turned that into pence hooking gays up to car batteries
@Oujosh29, he hasn’t directly said that he supports conversion therapy, but he’s implied that he’d rather fund conversion therapy than give gay people any support. Conversion therapy is a pretty horrible treatment that doesn’t even give proper results outside of scaring patients into submission, so I can’t say that I agree with anyone who doesn’t condemn it. Besides, outside of that whole deal, pence isn’t exactly supportive of gay people. It’s fortunate that Obama got same-sex marriage through, because I doubt that the current administration would try.
@YUNoJump, thats also a stretch. Pence is on record wanting to fund "preventative measures" to fight aids, which the left immediately said he was supporting gay conversion. Pence claims he meant safe sex, and since there's no actual quote of him pushing for conversion therapy, i give him the benefit of a doubt.
I dont condemn conversion therapy, if an adult wants to do it, thats their choice. I do think no one (aka minors) should be forced to do it by their parents
@Oujosh29, true, but he’s also said “Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior.” In regards to that AIDS funding. That really sounds like conversion therapy to me.
Aside from the idea that there’s nothing wrong with being gay and the vast majority of conversion patients do it because of bullying or pressure, it can also cause all sorts of mental issues in patients. It shouldn’t exist, because being gay shouldn’t be considered a disease in modern society.
@YUNoJump, or safe sex and abstinence education. Prevention is always the most effective method in treating diseases.
@Oujosh29, “institutions” is the key word there
@YUNoJump, why? That could mean schools. If it said treatments youd have a better case, but as is that quote doesn't have anything to do with gay conversion therapy without something else with it
@Oujosh29, well really “institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behaviour” is the more specific key term. Considering pence is against contraception, and he was talking about the problem of gay people and HIV, the only thing I can think of that applies is conversion therapy. I doubt a church or school is going to help gay people with how to have safe sex. As before, he’s only implying it.
@Oujosh29, considering most places that teach abstinence have higher pregnancies, that teaching obviously sucks. People are gonna fück, teaching a safe way to do it makes more sense than trying to brainwash them into marriage only sex
@YUNoJump, To be fair - a condom isn’t really contraception in gay sex, so theoretically you can be 100% against them for straight people but okay with the gays using them.
That said, people who are strongly against contraception are generally against the gays too.
Just saying that a lot of the slightly vague statements and implications quoted here can be taken in different ways. (But if he is promoting ‘conversion therapy’ then he needs a right slap for it. Some people are gay, deal with it).
@Dexios S Divine, i agree, abstinence isnt realistic. The point was what pence meant in his quote.
@YUNoJump, why wouldn't a school help? He was probably talking about funding sex education, thats perfectly in line with him. I just think you need sonething a lot more concrete to suggest someone wants to electrify gay people than subjective quotes that "could" imply he does from a certain point of view
You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means!
I’m the best at being humble.
Like the perfect real version of “press x for doubt”
