@Aesmosis, ants can survive for a long time submerged in water. I mean a LOOONG time. Like days or weeks, maybe months...there is an insect who can handle being submerged for something like 3 months I believe. But maybe it was 3 weeks...dammit. Anyway, it's useless to try to drown an ant.

@Aesmosis, I disagree with the other commenters, what I speculate happens is that the ant goes into a sleep-like state when submerged, it's how they live through seasons. When salt is introduced in a large quantity, there is likely a nervous response to high salt concentrations to maintain internal
