To be fair, the tech for advanced weaponry and a simple engine are completely different. I know people that can program and build a computer from scratch yet have no idea how to change their oil.
@SilverGrim, I'm thet etxact opposite. I could tear down and rebuild an engine, but couldn't do much other than basic computer syuff.
@Gollum Fetish, and then you have me that can do slightly above average on both. I'm always the balanced build on any rpg haha
@SilverGrim, Video games don't count... lol
@SilverGrim, There is no more oil in the fallout world. In fallout 2 you help the NCR ensure that. By blowing up Navarro you destroy the last remaining oil well. The exploding cars that explode after you shoot them, are atomic so not all hope is lost. Vertibirds operated on this technology. Which is the big explosion you get when blowing one up see in fallout four. And maybe I am incorrect. However for a fact the great war was over the last remaining natural fuels. Propane, gasoline diesel. However since fossil fuels are constantly being made (dead plants fossilizing) that would make for a killer plot. Restoring vehicles. Building an oil well. Now sometimes the deviate from the original games because Bethesda took over. For example in fallout three there is a refueling station for Vertibirds. But chances are this won't happen. 😢
@Barry Dylan, unfortunately for fossil fuels to get created in large quantities I'm pretty sure it's closer to several thousand or hundred thousand years, rather than only 200, but they could push for a more modern idea, a lab where scientists perfected the hydrogen fuel cell before the Great War, perhaps
@SilverGrim, yes but the repair skill applies to everything, in fallout New Vegas I can repair power armour or just recently I Jury Rigged a food processor because I had a high enough repair skill :P unfortunately like a lot of design choices in fallout, the reason you can't do it is cause the developers can't or won't bother to add it
@SilverGrim, the issue I believe that the picture is pointing out is that you are able to fix it by practically just slapping two broken weapons together, even if they are completely broken but everything else has to be repaired with more or less randomly found objects that you can just loot from another thing that is broken of the same object, like two cars.
@Gollum Fetish, same
Nuclear powered car engines sound easy to fix to me.....but 4real why couldn't the super scientist dad from fallout 3 fix one?
@angrydwarf, maybe there just isn't any roads repaired enough to drive on. Also those military trucks look like they are in good condition but are always ransacked and abandoned. Raiders probably fvck too much shjt up for anyone to have cars :(
@angrydwarf, think about what kind of resources that would cost. You'd have to repair the engine, restore or replace the frame and rusted outer shell. And you'd have to find and install new wheels and other parts. Restoring a car would've been a pain in the ass in fallout.
Bethesda, we want cars in Fallout 5
@Ajunta Pall, *whispers* Mods..........
@Proactive Citizenry , there's mods for that?
@Ajunta Pall, *whispers* cars...........
@Proactive Citizenry , which mods? I need names to look up on nexus.
@Ajunta Pall, go onto YouTube and look up shoddy cast, they talked about car mods in one of their recent pod casts.
@Proactive Citizenry , aw yiss...
@Ajunta Pall, it will never happen... There is something you should know.
@Bethesda, what about 6?
@Bethesda, well, I guess no more Fallout for me. *tries Borderlands instead*
@Ajunta Pall, No
@Ajunta Pall, No luca no
@Ajunta Pall, Borderlands is a great game. But just because there aren't cars in Fallout doesn't mean the end of world. Not yet.
@Bethesda, I see what you did there.
@Ajunta Pall, Guys? what are we doing under the table?
@Unhappy Customer, Having a good time
@Bethesda, ohh I see am I intruding?
@Unhappy Customer, Nope, stay as long as you like
I can fix and understand a computer, but u couldn't make a midevil catapult so...
The cars in the Fallout universe are nuclear-powered...
In the second game there is a functional car you can repair and drive. Its honestly more that the cara were completely trashed from the war and being abandoned for years than anything. #falloutnerd
For the record you could drive a car in fallout 4 but you run out of gas and your fvcked.
@Ironhomie, my phone autocorrected fallout 2 to fallout 4 because that's all I have been talking about.
