I feel like there was a better way to go about this, I don't know... Maybe a boat instead of a plane...
Who am I kidding, that wouldn't look as cool
@Duncan5769, maybe trebuchets
@DwayneTheCockJohnson, definitely trebutches
@DwayneTheCockJohnson, But can it throw a 90kg fish over 300m?
@YourMomRidesMeGood, yes, but it's even better, cause the fish bounces off the water 2 or 3 times, so it's like 400 metres
We do this in Minnesota as well. The fish are raised in fish hatcheries for a time, then loaded in a plane and dropped into lakes. Some of the fish do die before they make it to the water.
For those wondering why lakes are stocked, there are a few different reasons. We are either introducing a new, native species to the lake, stocking a species that was already in the lake, but is being overrun by an invasive species, or we just want to bolster numbers to help reestablish a lake.
This has been a PSA by your own MN DNR employee
@Cmnder Shepard, You guys suck! You took away my gun for shooting wild turkey! It was during season and I had my license, but the officer was like 'no, you can only have one'. If I had known that I would have gone with 101 instead of Longbranch.
@Gamasennin, that would be a conservation officer. There's more to the DNR than that.
@Cmnder Shepard, That was a joke. 101 and Longbranch are types of Wild Turkey bourbon. I can't even carry a gun in Minnesota because your government won't recognize Iowa carry permits.
@Gamasennin, I don't drink enough to make the connection to bourbon :P
Minnesota does a lot of strange things, half the time even I have trouble keeping it straight
I'm pretty sure this is just for remote lakes with no access roads. Usually they are stocked from a truck on a boat ramp type thing. Its pretty cool to watch
@Petersquatch, the planes actually aren't uncommon. They hold more and are quicker
@mazemarble, and then the fish that survive have something to eat.
Um, here in Utah we would say: 'BOMBS AWAY FETCHERS!'.
Makes you wonder how they restock black men in ghetto areas
@Vegetable Soup, Unprotected sex.
Wait I don't get it, why in hell would you need to stock a lake? Did all the last fish die
@Turtlezen, Fish and wildlife are carefully maintained in each state, fisheries grow the fish on farms and they are usually state funded. Hence why you need to pay for a fishing license.
If left to the natural replenishment rate, lakes and rivers would run out very quickly, probably within a year.
@xAegis Heartx Ah I see, thanks for the explanation my good sir! :D In the UK we litteraly just pull them out the water
@Turtlezen, If you fish from a lake or river, they are probably stocked from a fishery as well. Though I'll admit I'm not well versed in the ecological maintenance practices of the UK.
Begone, fish thots!
I think the guy that made this video is the guy that I did my CFI checkride with! Very cool.
OFISHals sorry I will now join them in getting dropped out of a plane
I feel like this has to be catfish, or some other fish that just won't die. Trout are very fragile and often die from being caught.
Somebody in a boat below the plane... "Oh Sh-"
