Who cares if one is easier to convert by hand. Who really does that much math by hand these days anyways? More than likely, if you're using these in an engineering sense, you've written a program or a spreadsheet, so it really doesn't matter whether unit conversions are clean or messy, they're all handled by a computer. Might as well use units that make sense in the environment around you, such as being able to picture a foot or an inch or a pound, versus trying to guess how many cm or mm something is without converting it to inches in your head. Rant over.
@Tsaltydog, Clearly you have never heard of the unit blunder which caused the destruction of the Mars space probe, but I digress.
@Tsaltydog, theres numerous cases where the conversion of units was done wrong and leg to a massive failure. The Mars probe is just 1 of quite a few.
@Tsaltydog, for the purposes of math and science the American System falls short. If you grew up ina metric environment you would know the difference.
@airguitarpro, you’re right, it’s a d@mn shame all people don’t use freedom units, so many problems could be avoided.
Looking at you Americans
@Kayda, You better be looking at us in admiration because I ain't seen anyone else land on the moon
@Yourself, NASA uses the decimal system
@LightskinDarkNig, *surprised Pikachu face*
@Empshok, *confused in ‘Murican*
@Yourself, ***With the help of Nazi scientists. Wernher Von Braun to the rescue.
Look up 'Operation Paperclip' if you'd like to know more.
This whole operation was your idea
There's just some things that imperial makes sense for.
Car fuel usage
Local atmospheric temperature
And some others I can't think of at the moment
That's a weird way to say "I don't understand math"
There is actually an argument to be made for counting in 12s for units of measurement although it takes a serious level of dedication because I'm talking about abandoning the decimal system completely in favor of literally using the dozonal system to count all numbers. The dozonal system is strictly better in terms of ease of use due to 12 having 6 factors while 10 only having 4. This makes basic divison and fractions far easier to work with.
Calculation vs everyday use
Pshaw, they just love the decimal system bc it sounds more impressive to say your peepee is 12.7 instead of having to play it off like, yeah it’s huge! Hope you can handle a whole nickel missy.
