Borders between countries
But are the Belgians smuggling cocaine into holland?
@xSparkySharky, everyone is always so suspicious of the belgians... how do we know it's not hollandians smuggling in heroin? Lol. Sorry if the spelling is poor... I guess drugs never showed up on my spelling tests as a kid...
@xSparkySharky, or guns
@xSparkySharky, or people?
@xSparkySharky, the other way around. Atleast I used to do that
@Amniphast, *dutch not hollandians
@Sniper of Puns, lol. I had meant it as a little joke. Much like we Iowans jokingly refer to ourselves as Iowegians. Lol.
@Amniphast, oh okay, sorry bout that then
@Sniper of Puns, no worries. It may have just not been a good joke... lol.
@Amniphast, the Dutch mafia is after you sir
@GoDiegoGo,oh no! The hollandian mafia?! That is ok... I think I can win
@xSparkySharky, they just actually caught a lot.. seems is eas going on for a while
Yeah, but neither of them have thousands of the other one trying to illegally enter the country.
@LiquidAIDS, does it look illegal to enter the country?
@Brave Sir Robin, Is the standard of living significantly higher in one of the countries?
@LiquidAIDS, are you blood or man juice?
Oh look, another European comparing two states in the EU to America and mexico, rather than, y'know, two states in the US. Maybe if Europeans actually took the time to learn what the US was and how it compares to the EU and not individual states in the EU we wouldn't have pictures like this. But as anyone who's seen the old " 'Automatic' firearms vs French Cheese" picture can attest, the last thing Europeans are going to do is educate themselves.
@Captain Swordsman, but they are both countries.
@Moistpanties, but the US is more complicated than a single country. It's a collection of 50 states united under a single federal government that's SUPPOSED to only insure certain human rights for all people in all 50 states and maintain the co-opted defense of these states. It has a population roughly 3/5 as large as the EU and a land area roughly 5/3 as large. Mexico is similarly larger than any individual EU state, except for maybe Australia. To compare the US to a relatively tiny nation-state like Holland or Belguim is just unfair.
@Captain Swordsman, Did... did you just say Australia was a part of the EU? Dude, do you even 5th grade geography?
@CriTiKa1, ugh "did you even" grammar
@CriTiKa1, likely meant Austria...
@Captain Swordsman, Australia's not part of the EU, just the commonwealth if you were getting confused
@that narwhal, right. Sorry, I did get confused
@CriTiKa1, I messed up and got what Australia was a part of confused. I guess since you think you're a perfect being who can't make mistakes you look down on anyone who does make a mistake.
@Captain Swordsman, you make a good point. The United states are just that. Individual "states" (another word for country) that are bound together by a federal government that is only supposed to guarantee the citizens certain rights and provide a standing army. These stated have been gradually more and more treated like providences because we have given more and more power to the federal government.
@Amniphast, indeed this is exactly what has happened.
@Amniphast, it's not that they have too much power, it's where they have too much power and who controls it. IE special interests.
@Captain Swordsman, lol, saying people in the EU need to get educated and then says Australia is part of the EU. Dumbar$e. You mean Austria. And as for your more complicated nonsense. The EU comprises of more than 50 different nations, meaning over 50 different federal governments all with different laws and individual economies and no real unifying feature except for location. Also many are traditional enemies. You will find almost no border in the EU that matches your border with Mexico.
@Captain Swordsman, and you got your numbers wrong. 500mill pop in the EU vs 300mil pop in US. That is a pop of 5/3 for the EU. Who needs to hey educated? This is why people don't like Amerifats.
@Captain Swordsman, That's a whole lotta burn
@TheMonkeyGod, yeah... thats 3/5 for the US though...
@TheMonkeyGod, which is what he said...
@The Lone Guppy, he was insinuating that the US had the bigger pop
@The Lone Guppy, and his land mass sums are wrong. US had 9mill sq miles the EU has 3mill sq miles. Let's face it he was talking without thinking. A common trait in the US as I understand.
@TheMonkeyGod, no I wasn't idiot I clearly said the US had 3/5 as many people. 3/5 as many does not mean more than.
@TheMonkeyGod, I googled this before.
@SimonPetrikov, you mean on me or coming from me?
@Captain Swordsman, coming from you
@Captain Swordsman, apologies so you did. Well you got one thing right. Good for you. So then your point would be that less people of one nation is harder to manage than me people of different nations? That makes less sense than making a population error.
@TheMonkeyGod, not all Americans can be classified together. The diversity in attitudes and cultures is what makes it america. The federal versus state government thing is kind of hard to explain. The states don't necessarily have to do everything that the federal government says. It can be complicated. Anyone with anything bad to say about America has their right to voice their oppinion. Or at least they might have that right. It depends on what country they live in. :)
@Amniphast, so you mean exactly like the EU then?
@TheMonkeyGod, to be entirely honest, I am not too familiar with how the separate governing forces in EU work.
@Amniphast, also you guys don't have the hassles of non member states and borders with rogue nations like Russia. But yeah your way must be easy more complex. BTW I don't live in the EU or Europe. So really I don't care.
@TheMonkeyGod, I don't know if the US politics are more or less complicated than the EU. I was just trying (although possibly failing) to help shed some light.
@Captain Swordsman, Frankly, the vitriol is unnecessary.
@TheMonkeyGod, Watch out, we got a bada$$ over here
@Captain Swordsman, Let's play spot the American
@Swigz, let play... ummm... spot the observant person..... ummm.... *FIREWORKS* FREEDOM! *FIREWORKS
@Captain Swordsman, Was that a sarcastic comment? I really hope it was
@Heimdall, which one? At least one was sarcastic but most were serious (although they contained a few research errors).
@Captain Swordsman, The very first post
@Heimdall, no. The first post was dead serious. Fun fact: Europeans are just as capable of saying stupid things as anyone else.
@Captain Swordsman, Well many of us try not to.
@Heimdall, most everyone TRIES not to. It is a human thing to mess up. Not just an American thing...
@The Lone Guppy, I quite agree, but it does seem that a choice Americans mess up louder than anyone else. Just look at the tea party.
@Heimdall, *choice few* sorry
@TheMonkeyGod, That's exactly what he said dumba$$
@Captain Swordsman, oh look another american freaking out because someone did something other than scream "USA USA"
@MikeWazowski, I already recognised that and apologised you massive dyckhead.
@Captain Swordsman, Great! Thanks to you I got an F on my World Civics test!
@Heimdall, were you talking about the tea party like current day, or the boston tea party? Haha and hey! You all know that ONE person that is just always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Like the person trying to sneak out of a place that accidently steps on a rubber ducky... others make mistakes... but some make mistakes that get noticed. Not necessarily bad mistakes... just noticed ones... id like to be narcissistic about it and say its because everone is REALLY into the U.S. and thats why they notice our mistakes more 'Murica! On another note... how bout that Russia... or.... dem Hong Kong students... heh heh...
@TheMonkeyGod, yes! The whole point of my original comment was to say exactly that: that the US is analagous to the EU and not the smaller individual countries within it.
@Captain Swordsman, maybe if I type slower. The border issue is not between two US States. It's between the USA and Mexico. Two neighbouring countries. The Netherlands and Belgium ate also two neighbouring countries. You made the comment that the USA is more complicated than the EU, which it isn't. It's not about internal politics is about external politics. You do understand that the EU isn't a federation? It's actually more based on trade and is an economic block predominantly. You're comparing apples to oranges and calling them all bananas. The USA and the EU are different. Australia (not the European country Austria, the nation south of Indonesia) is closer to being like the USA in its political structure... But that's right I still need to get educated. And that's what started all this you condescending muppet.
@TheMonkeyGod, hehehe you said muppet :P although not to be argumentative... you said you were NOT from Europe? He said that the Europeans needed to become educated... im just trying to understand your angle better... feel free not to answer. I am just simply being nosey ;)
@The Lone Guppy, I was talking about the tea party(current day far right movement), I guess I have a skewed version as I only see them when they say 'hey,hey! Look at me! DERP!'
I think this is compounded by the good relationship the UK and America has, as at least the UK as generally interested in America's current affairs. If you compare this relationship to the UK-Russian you'll get an awkward silence. Then someone shoots down a civilian airliner.
@Captain Swordsman, the EU is an economic an political alliance among countries, it's not like the states at all. The reason the borders are like this is because of an EU agreement that demands open borders. This very well could have been made by an American, it's actually possible for Americans to criticize the U.S. Calm down.
@The Lone Guppy, I just said I don't live there. Family are all European. I was not born there. European by decent.
@TheMonkeyGod, you obviously have never been to Texas. Texans believe in "state rights" superseding federal rights... That is, until Big Gov hands down federal funds. No need to call anyone named when each of the 50 states In the US is different and you cannot generalize every one together.
@Captain Swordsman, just a tad bit salty, just a tad
@Scanman, without a little salt, we'd all die
So, um, Russia and Ukraine?? Aren't they shooting full metal diplomacy at each other over borders?
Most borders in Europe are like this, havent seen them in person tho... someday
@Brazz, thanks Schengen!
Excuse me, I need to go stand in Holland and Belgium at the same time.
@Pantheon, *Netherlands and Belgium. Holland is a city that in no way connects to Belgium
@Theguydownunder, holland is a combination of the provinces north holland and south holland
That's not what the U.S. - Mexico border looks like! A majority of it either doesn't have a fence or it's just small wire dividing the 2
So... Isn't that the border between Belgium and the Netherlands? Hence the B and NL?
@BrownEyeTroll, Holland and the Netherlands are the same place
@I like Ike, Holland is actually a region in the Netherlands.
@Toad, this guy the real MVP. Correcting nicely. And I thank you for doing so.
If we had the same type of border as Belgium and the Netherlands, no one would be living in Mexico.
Actually this a place called Baarle Nassau. The rest of the border is normal but this one little part is really fvcked up. Not from Holland or anything, but all it takes is a simple look on Google Earth
Did you know that the U.S-Mexico Border does not divide the two countries perfectly? There are hundreds of Americans living in Texas that have to cross border patrol every day on the way to work because the wall was built too far into the state.
That top picture disgusts me
