Carol Baskin: Don’t put tigers in cages.
Also Carol Baskin: *puts tigers in smaller cages*
@lemongrenade, And depriving them of sex is even more cruel in my opinion. They’re endangered so, if anything happens to them in the wild these breeders will have saved the species
@Duncan5769, weeelll its not like the breeders are releasing them into the wild they r just selling them off to people (often without any kind of background check) what carol and this tiger joe or whatever r doing 2 different things. Rescues (what carol has) are tigers who could not survive in the wild. Whether they r injured or have been rescued from an abusive shelter but as a result does never learned how to hunt. This other guy is just breeding them shoving them on a cage and selling them to the first buyer. Granted carols tigers are in need of a drastic upgrade as well. If you want to see someone who does this right and does an excellent job explaining the difference between breeding and rescues check out the youtube channel BIG CAT DEREK. i saw carol tried to explain the difference in tje first episode but did a shıt job so everyone thinks she is a hypocrite
@jerriest jerry , my hope is that someone with some ethics will work on reintroduction.
@big freedom, there are people who do that and its great. But the process is long and each tiger requires a lot of attention so if do reintroduce it to the wild so your not releasing say 5 at a time but 1. And often times it doesnt work and the tiger has to be put back in captivity. I also want to talk anout the girl who got her arm torn off. Under NO circumstance should that EVER happen. Rule numbee one NO BODY PART IS TO BE STUCK THROUGH THE CAGE. If you want to greet a big cat you put a flat palm on the cage. The only reason i can think for them not being immediately shut down is because you cant do anything with the tigers. Rescues cant take them cuz lack of man power and space. And they cant be released into the wild. One because no pride would take the tiger in (might even kill it)and without the ability to hunt they would die. Im not saying breeding big cats is all bad it cam be beneficial but serius restrictions need be put in place.on how many you can breed
@jerriest jerry , it’s not that I think what Tiger breeders are doing isn’t immoral, so much as what Carol is doing is more Immoral
@jerriest jerry ,
I think tiger breeding shouldn’t be outlawed but it does need to be regulated severally. No more than 5 a year. Not this several hundred bull crap. Background checks and making sure that the facilities that are needed to take care of the tiger are taken care of. That the person who’s buying knows what they are getting themselves into and have the proper permits and income to support them.
@Duncan5769, will they, though? Breeders like these aren’t trying to carefully conserve genetic diversity and preserve tiger subspecies (there are 6). They’re looking to make as much profit as possible, so they’re just going to breed whichever tigers they have instead of setting up the gene testing and exchange networks that major zoos have. What’s more, white tigers are prone to a number of health defects, are usually inbred since it’s a recessive trait, and aren’t generally able to survive in the wild. But breeders keep making them (and hybrids like ligers) because there’s more money in it. These practices aren’t good for long-term conservation. If people actually cared about tigers they’d focus on preserving habitat and ending wildlife trafficking, and stop paying crackheads to pet a cub.
@Kyroll, and sadly this is true for breeders for so many different animals. Pure breed dogs are 9/10 inbred. A lot of "pure breed" dont look the same they did years ago. Take the french mastiff it didnt always have loose skin. Because of years of inbreeding this dog is so genetically fůcked its average lifespan is 5 years. And these dogs ca barely even breath. The sad part is tht this is all easy to fix but loose skin mastiffs are what sells so we will just keep on inbreeding them.
