Weird flex: I have super fast internet (gigabit) and I can never relate to waiting hours for something to download.
@The Lifeguard, same, I'm gonna miss it when I move out for college...
@Super GingerBoy, collegue internet makes commies look like they have it good.
@The Lifeguard, it’s when you realize the rest of the Internet has slower internet than you
@The Lifeguard, I have really fast internet too, 500Mbps, but unfortunately my ping where I live is usually pretty poor. Not usually a big deal except when gaming
What is this, the 90’s? 20GBs takes an hour, not an entire weekend.
@Click to toggle, unless you live in the sticks, then you’re looking at like 4 hours.
@FPVeteranWolf, 4hours tops even with DSL.
@RiffRaff, 20 GBs would take me about 15 hours, I have DSL
@Click to toggle, it would take me about 4-7 days.
@mazemarble, the hell you use? String and tin cans?
Idk, I've lived the shít internet life for over a year( I was on hotspots it was terrible) and now I have wifi and it's amazing, I can usually download large games within an hour
@InsaneWorm, I recently upgraded from like 20mbps to a fiber connection and the difference is palpable. 50 gig steam games no longer take hours.
@InsaneWorm, wifi is amazing. Considering wifi is just a wireless signal to let you move freely around your home and not your actual internet.
Joking aside. I knew what you meant. I just find it funny that people use wifi to refer to broadband or high speed internet. Because as an IT person. They are absolutely not the same thing.
I get about 114 megabits per second on cable. So it usually takes an hour, hour 20 max for 50GB. Cant get fiber in my apartment yet. But I typically do my game downloads while I eat and watch a show. So its done by the time I’m done. Though few games I have are 50GB or more. Most are 30 or lower.
@Seohn, also as an IT person. I hate advertisments from internet providers and cell providers that make claims about their speeds by making vague comparisons and dont actually tell the specs.
As a PC builder this annoys me even more when all the companies, “and yes all of them do this,” make part claims to be up to “50%” faster or such numbers. Without actually telling the stats of the product they are comparing it to. Look at any video card box and you’ll know what I mean.
Its like... Damn by that marketing method my PC well over 1000% faster than my first custom built PC. It makes a Ti83 look like an abacus. Marketing thats like smack talking. Vague enough to sound great. But a load of bullsh!t to anyone that knows a damn thing about the importance of knowing the spec numbers.
Me recently getting Siege then the update..
@Murderin Mike, oh god
I'm still downloading it
It's been on for the past 4 nights and i only think it just might of managwd
