There is nothing gayer than worrying about what another man does with his d!ck
@Scottles, it does not if it saves a man from eternal salvation. The Bible does have recorded accounts of how God hates and detestes sexual contact that is not by a man and woman to each other after marriage. People seem to refuse to accept that and quote the Bible like it is acceptable. I apologize, I do not think you are like that, or rude, or anything more than a joke. But I see that is a hard sell. Considering the PC we have to live with now...like three bad apples ruin it all. Its sad.
Yeah buddy just a joke, I realize God is not a fan but no need to badger people about it imo
@Scottles, riggght? Totally..
@Blackfrost273, the Bible should have nothing to do with gay marriage being legal considering America doesn't just have one religion along with many larger nations. As someone who isn't religious, the gay marrige problem is stupid, you should be able to marry who you want to. Notice I said who, if you're a furry im sorry but that's a no
@K1lgore, but this is a nation built on religious values and what they define and cling too the definition of marriage is what we have to separate. I agree that they are different to a point. A civil union is a perfect term because it keeps the people who identify with the people of old and doesn't mess with updating an old definition that would overturn (for lack of better word) a religion or God as we have a sanctimonious script that states something of the origin of the word marriage. If your family has a tradition they will follow and teach their offspring. It becomes apart of identity, self identification and many other things. That is why as a religious person I face persecution and labeling as a dumb person because clinging to traditions is natural, comforting, and is basic instinct. But there is so much more data there not recorded and shared. It is not a dumb hick or whatever thing. A marriage is precious and traditional to most as one specific way. Not just a battle.
@K1lgore, I thunk gay marriage is alright as long as it is not under the church but an agreement between the two people and the government. Because then I can understand but marriage under the church is a covenant made make between a man a woman and god.
@Blackfrost273, I kinda agree but I think what your looking for is that a marriage in a church that is blessed by god is a covenant between the man the woman and god and I think that it is alright for homosexuals to be married but not under god
@Blackfrost273, Just because the bible says so doesn't mean gays shouldn't get married. If you want to base things strictly off the bible, gays marrying shouldn't be an issue because it says they should be put to death. Also marriage isn't always a religious ceremony. It can just be a formal bond of two people. Im an atheist but i'd like to get married one day and it's nobody's business to tell me who I can and can't get married to.
@K1lgore, ... look into the new testament. That is what Christians follow. Jesus kinda did away with all the crap you atheists pull out trying to say christainity is crazy. It says love thy neighbor and that it isnot our place tojudge others. Now. There should be a difference in titles between religious and non religious unions. If they have different intentions, different titles should be named. A _a__ is a (in their eyes) holy union between man and wife. A __b__ is a secular union between two people. How is that so wrong/hateful to say that?
@lying adult, not the case. Married outside or inside, with an ordained priest or an elder of the church. If a marriage is enacted, you please God or spit on Him. I cannot really state it differently.
@Blackfrost273, but if someone who is gay and an atheist or agnostic wants to get married? I know that's how you view it but not them, so why is it up to you to make them follow your rules? Marriage doesn't have to be a religious thing
@K1lgore, marriage is a ceremony created by God to bond a man and woman together until death do them part. If a homosexual practices they should have been put to death, we should have loved the sinner and hated the sin. People get this wrong all of the time. Now, you can marry a goat for all I care. I won't treat you different but don't expect me to kiss the cheek of the goat when I come over for dinner and bring a nice merlot.. The idea is not to ban gay marriage. It is to separate, educate, and provide a means of understanding the consequences of what you may be doing. I don't think you fully read my first comment.
@StiffWood, Oh buddy there's still plenty of crazy stuff in there
Corinthians 14:34 -
The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak.
So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away.
And if your hand—even your stronger hand—causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away.
Give to those who ask, and don’t refuse those who wish to borrow from you.
Whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Those are all fairly straightforward and literal but im sure you don't follow those. On top of that why were there flaws in the original testament? God is flawless is he not? I didn't want to start a religion war but I enjoy a good debate from time to time.
@K1lgore, there are plenty more aswell, I only listed a few I could remember
@K1lgore, because, not that I or Jesus says so. 1St, idc who, what, if you marry. If I don't provide a disclosure and there is a God who had the Script authored by His words th tough their hands and His commands for me to provide advice, and discernment that paves the way to His salvation and I don't do it. It is bad. Because I read the Bible and have failed to save a life or two at the least. That is saying God still abhors homosexuality, which I don't see where He changes. So, what if I am right? I could influence someone or people to obey God, or I could have just advised them and left the decision to them. I claim only that. I will not say, don't get married. I don't know you or what you do. I don't wish to offend you or harm you. I know what I have read and wish to inform the CORRECT action by doing said action unlike many so called Christians or shall we extend the titles applicable to the religious and traditionalists? True Christianity is a life choice, not something you do.
@Blackfrost273, No I did read your first comment. Remember, the decision is by a country and a government not by a church. Again, if you want to base things just off of the bible don't let atheists or agnostics get married because non-believing is the only unforgivable sin, so why should they have rights to get married?
@K1lgore, hadn't heard that. I always heard and had suicide reinforced as the only unforgivable sin as you can't ask for forgiveness. . Marriage is not government therefore country, it became diplomatic after the ceremony was created. It was not created by the government. The paper is what people take literal right? It shouldn't be about the discounts, as some have stated recently. I think the government needs to make a statement of where they wish to be with the church of God; Catholic or not. Just because the pope says gays can marry doesn't mean it's right. What you reference, call it civil union for simplicity even though people will call it their marriage or whatever. Civil union is fine. Civil union your horse you brit or your second cousin you Ohio resident. And as an atheist or even agnostic. Civil union it up with whoever you wish. But know what the Bible says at first, please and know for yourself, not anybody else what you read and own your decision. It could mean salvation
@K1lgore, or eternal death. Not for me but if I can help then I will, if I don't, then I am not worried. Only costed me some breath and some time. Time I see worth using. Meh, if you wish.
@Blackfrost273, The correct action? Who are you, that thousands of years old book or Jesus to tell me what is "CORRECT"? The bible is filled with opinions not facts. The bible cannot tell me right from wrong, that is up to me and my natural morals. You also can't say "it's not telling right from wrong, it's just guidelines" because it says directly in the bible that it's not guidelines, it's facts. You can't prove something is morally right or wrong.
@K1lgore, Ok those versus are taken out of context bud. I saw that. I will get to your defenses building up in a sec.
@StiffWood, calm down, please. Christians follow or should follow both, because the ten commandments are still active, the mosaic law is still there to show where the Jews were and the examples God and them gave us to correct ourselves by...and also a testament to the coming of Jesus Christ in the prophets section...haha, sorry the section...haha
@Blackfrost273, Only unforgivable sin is speaking against god, im pretty sure saying he doesn't exist counts as that
31.) And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32.) Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
@Blackfrost273, Those were not taken out of context, have you even read the bible?
@K1lgore, you can if it is a deity giving the orders. Secondly, the correct thing, you read wrong. I didn't say anything about you being right or tell you what to do. What do people say about the summary of Jesus Christ's life? Something about living by example. Who is it that needs to correct themselves? I didn't think I'd have to,rule you out, I ruled myself out by saying I have to do the CORRECT thing, and what not. And I ask you make a little more sense. You seem a little butt hurt over there. I have not sent anything to intentionally offend you and I have studied up to word things in a way to not be, what do they say? Agitators? Instigating? Idc, you get the point. Since I asked, it is the people who blindly represented who should and who shouldn't get married and why when the cause is not just. The ignorant kid-faithed loudmouth punks that don't understand the difference between Christianity and Catholic religion. The ones that would blindly deny you or anyone a marriage.
@K1lgore, I read it, listened to it, studied it, studied the periodic times, studied how the translations from Greek to English differed, studied how the king James has slight miscommunications, how other popular translations have similar, how the translation process can work and the three different main types, the popular lifestyles of the Romans, the Jews, and how they worked together, I studied how the churches that Paul visited where developing and how people negatively or positively influenced them resulting in letters from Paul when in prison wrote and had a personal friend deliver them when they traveled to the area. I have my own spent time to understand and develop my own opinion to this whole Christianity thing. Because the salvation is important. You know what else? Lets side step, God didn't make or want me to be abused as a child. He did not force anything. The world did and people chose to,make those actions and do those things. Not religion or God or anyone else.
@Blackfrost273, there is a humongous hole in your arguments, and the main reason why I've downvoted so many of your posts on here.
Marriage, as both a civil and a religious union has existed for longer than the bible has.
You do not own the word marriage.
You do not own the practice of marriage.
You do not have the right to deny it to anyone else.
The Bible's stance for what does and does not constitute a proper marriage does not apply to anyone who is not Christian. If God has a problem with what someone is doing, that is between them and God.
Removing someone's rights and freedoms to 'save them from themselves' is also directly against everything that is logical and intelligent. God gave us free will to make our own choices. Who are you, or any other Christians, to intervene in that?
It's arrogance of the worst kind. You aren't our parents.
@Blackfrost273, That is the biggest thing that bothers me about Christians AND about Americans. Separation of Church and State is in your damn constitution. And if you're supposed to be all about freedom, stop oppressing people!
@Blackfrost273, Ok first thing, Jesus was an a$$hole. Let me explain myself before you flip - Yeah I know Jesus died for sins yadda yadda yadda I guess I understand why that makes him great and all. Regardless, he told people to praise him, he told people to love him over their family and loved ones. To put that in perspective, what if I came up to you, I told you how great I was, that you had to put me in front of your family It doesn't matter what I did, I could have saved your entire family from a burning building, it's not justifiable. People do wonderful amazing things all the time but don't ask or tell anyone to praise them.
@Blackfrost273, sorry for the rant, and nothing personal.
But again. There is NO reasonable argument for the illegalization of gay marriage, and the argument for calling it something other than 'marriage' is nothing more than "that's our word. You can't have it."
@K1lgore, so I am skeptical of how things work and how humanity develops, how the religious views of man to God have or have not changed over the centuries. I have a lot of data in scientific format to allow not just me but to allow myself to converse various topics about the Bible and about the existences of fundamental life theories, hypothetical theses, and more.
@I Are Lebo, remember, people get possessive about what makes their, reality up. Changing for homosexual lifestyles is radical to them.
@Blackfrost273, You ask for me to make more sense? Are you serious right now? This is coming from a person who believes in a man in the sky who has never ever been proven to exist. Whom has never shown himself, or given any actual proof that he exists. He was was as all powerful as he is said to be, why can't he give a little more proof he exists? Surely since he is omniscient he should be able to understand my perspective. Even since I was a child Santa Clause made more sense to me. And if I sound a little butthurt, im not, I have religious debates all the time with friends and random people on the internet like the one we're having right now, it's just that trying to be super respectful is harder to get certain points across.
@K1lgore, it's translation is rough here. He said to love Him far more than your family. To give a poor perspective, love Him so much that it seems like you hate your family. (I did say poor...I meant horrid) . The translation is difficult. In just literal form, that is a dictator's statement. Another known rough area is where Jesus asks if Peter loves Him on the bank. The Greek word for love is actually four words. Jesus asks if Peter loves Him one way and Peter says I love you another way. I forget who said the word "agape" . Pretty sure it was Jesus. Not definite.
@I Are Lebo, I understand the rant, in this PC world....lets just cut off Florida, and California. ..lets do that and we can do whatever. (Jk) but they people of old (let's not offend them by calling them old...I guess) love their way, it is their identity..we need to approach the scared puppy with food and caution to win it over.
@I Are Lebo, I totally agree, very well put
@Blackfrost273, Still, someone asking me to love him more than my family, is ridiculous. He didn't raise me, he didn't feed me, he didn't teach me how to read and write, he doesn't hang out with me or make me into who I am today. What I said was not taken out of context. It's horrid either way.
@I Are Lebo, never said I was, just saying I want to inform ya Whatcha gon do if ya Pisa off the big Man. That is what I implied with on the "CORRECT" part. Some people....passionate we can say....passionate. okay? Went way over bounds and did what you say. We just Correct it...hopefully and move on. I'm just saying that it would be wise, to have a disclaimer to say something like, if you smoke while pumping gas, you gon die...just in our sense...similar to what I just said this reply. Marry who or what you want, but be warned, it may piss off the big Man upstairs...what? Don't believe? Alrighty cool beans. I did my part, no pushing it on you. But a wise person said I should just give you a heads up. There it was. Tarry on...
@I Are Lebo, wait...WAIT...." 'MURICA"...(did I do it right? Idk) and you?!?! You did the down votes...really...*puts on captain America outfit* this is war! *throws action figures at wall* I win again!
@K1lgore, actually I just meant I couldn't understand you, but I guess...*starts war with you about something frivolous and then sends over puppies to kill the spiders*
@K1lgore, true. As far as I can understand...those who do are susceptible to falling away quickly. I believe the idea is to build a relationship of trust and therein faith and eventually you get to loving Him the most but it is because of all the things you realize because of Him and His passively active role in your life every day. This is where I am still exploring and figuring it out. Of course, I have not agreed with everything, however I am finding myself being more insightful and understanding as time moves forward. Idk
@Scottles, I would argue that sucking another man off is probably a little more gay, but I really liked your comment.
@K1lgore, short explanation. When jusus died on the cross living a sinless life. He changed the way we lived. To where we foloowed his teachings. And through him we could wipe our sin debts. No longer needing to make sacrifices, because Jesus did that for us. His ways were for the more modern christian. The old ways were what worked for back then before christ
@Blackfrost273, im sorry i didn't mean every way. But we do not need to sacrifice anymore and god is not as present in the form of actually talking to people all the time and doing things like the spreading of language and flood.
@K1lgore, and sorry we don't not follow all of the old ways. Just certain practices. Like the sacrifices. Wasn't flawed, jesus just fulfilled it
@StiffWood, there still shouldn't be a need for a New Testament if there weren't flaws. Jesus didn't fulfill the entire bible, that just makes no sense. Unless Jesus killed every single gay person, there was no reason to take that out. There was only ever a New Testament because whoever wrote it made changes that were more convenient to them. Tell me wrong but it can only be looked at two ways - God wrote the bible, despite being a perfect flawless being, his book was filled with flaws so he had to change it (which contradicts itself in so many ways) or the bible was written a bunch of random people out in the desert who decided some parts they wrote seemed a little stupid or crazy. It doesn't matter if Jesus "fulfilled anything" if god is perfect there should be no need for a New Testament.
@K1lgore, there is no flaws in drinking from one pond your whole life if you were an animal correct? say there was a crack that opened up leading to a cave. This pond dries out. The animals find a new source of water. There is no flaw in going to the new pond. He fulfilled the blood sacrifice that used to be required. He said his teachings, we learned from them. It isn't our duty to kill sinners, because that's what we all are. It is our duty to not judge them. If you want to make that stupid of claims like that, your belief is just as stupid. Literally by luck of the draw. A fluke, the universe was created. For everything to have happened how it has to this day from the big bang and before.. the chances are uncalculatable. The thought of an intelligent creator is just as crazy as the thought that it was all made by chance
@StiffWood, Ok, that's a bad comparison, god knows everything that has and ever will happen. If he new it would need to be changed why would god make it that way in the first place? Why not just keep one perfect bible that doesn't need changing? If you want to go into how the universe was made, who made god? You can say that a god created the whole universe and what not, but who/what created him? And who/what created the one who created god? Again remember the big bang is just a theory, that happens to be the most widely accepted one because of how much evidence it has behind it. Also, we don't know what caused it, and for that we say that we don't know. Unlike science however, religion claims to have all of the answers and nobody in religion ever questions it, such as where did god come from? (Saying he has always been there is bs because as far as we know, he had to start somewhere), it's just common sense by this point.
@StiffWood, the thing is, the chance of actually havjng an intelligent creator is so small it's crazy to waste your entire life worshipping it. And the chance that your exact intelligent creator is true, is so much smaller.
@K1lgore, it's circular logic, there's no true debating with most religious people. They accept the idea that an invisible man in the sky is both omniscient, and omnipotent, and yet they see the world as it is and they have no problems with things. It's wilful blindness at its finest. They demand proof of anything that challenges their faith, which if provided with they immediately deny.
You can't combat lunacy with logic.
@Blackfrost273, I have no idea what message you're trying to get across in any of your responses to me. They're nonsensical.
Homophobic bigots are not puppies.
"Correct it and move on"? "Some people are passionate" let's just cut off Florida and California (jk)"
None of this adds up to any kind of a coherent message. It sounds like the kind of shït that Trump says all the time.
I mean no offence, but can you please try again without joking or mixing in random verbal tics with your comment? Because whatever message you were tying to get across was completely lost on me.
@K1lgore, In response to your comment about God being flawless:
I agree that he is perfect, which is why he was frustrated with humanity and destroyed them multiple times. But the issue is, humans are not. In the days of the old testament, many animals carried diseases that humans wouldn't be able to understand, so God simply told them not to eat those animals because it was his will. Cross contamination can cause all sorts of illnesses, but humans couldn't understand it, so God told them to keep meat and cheese separate because it was his will. God knew that you could get sick from touching dead bodies, so he told humans not to touch dead bodies because it was his will. God new that two men engaging in se* could stretch parts of the body that shouldn't be stretched in that time, and that people needed to make babies in order to keep the religion going, so he simply told them it was his will.
I first want to say I'm not antigay marriage, I love and support the LGBTQ community. I just want to put a thought out there.
Someone who was anti-gay marriage explained his stance to me..he said imagine if someone discovered a new color, they wouldn't call it blue, because that already exists, that's how I feel about gay marriage, I don't care if two men join in a civil union, I just don't want to call it marriage, because the definition has already been taken. I'm paraphrasing of course and I'm just curious how you all feel about that stance.
@notMrWonka, i don't. My stance has always been do whatever the hell you want as long as it doesn't impact me, isn't dangerous to you or others and doesn't involve kids. I only ask you don't make out in public and I mean to say wether it's guy and guy or guy and girl. Nobody wants to sit there and listen to your lips smacking
@George Feeny, I agree with you. I just wanted to strike up a lively conversation and unfortunately I failed.
@notMrWonka, you didnt fail at all.
@notMrWonka, You can try to explain it however you want, homophobic sentiments are homophobic sentiments and homophobic sentiments are garbage.
@notMrWonka, well he's still wrong. Marriage has never had one single definition. Simply because every culture around the world has had some form of marriage with vastly different ideas of what it means to be married. There is evidence that people got married before things were written down yes even homosexual ones way before the modern idea of "traditional marriage". In fact in the US alone traditional marriages really never stayed the same. In the 19th century married men could still take on multiple partners. Calling it a civil union instead of marriage is like saying that apple pie is real pie and blueberry isn't because the filling is different
@rabid aviator, not sure why I get a down vote, but I do agree with you.
@rabid aviator, also just for shìts and giggles if we were to give all marriages that aren't heterosexual a different name, what's the harm in that, honestly? If that were the case should we still fight for it, if all it comes down to is the label? Again not my beliefs (lol I feel like I have to stress this). Just curious on others mind set.
@George Feeny, Notice he intentionally left out girl and girl, so girls, have at it.
@notMrWonka, I say you do whatever you want. Marry or don't. Civil union label it if you like. Just remember, it is your right. The government is of the world and the people who seek the Bible should not be. They give to Caesar what's his (government, whatever) and God what is His. If it isn't you or anyone else. That's cool. I respect it like any other self respectable and well thought person. My bad if that is offensive or enough to,burn me at the stake. I will own my responsibilities and my decisions and try to respect others.
@notMrWonka, I think giving different names is harmless but also pointless. Some people would get butthurt for no reason, but changing the name is pointless. Marriage should just be two people formally and legally bonded
@notMrWonka, but It would be pretty funny to make up new names for non-hetero marriages so people can't bîtch about it being "untraditional"
@Pyvin, lol well I'm a she first of all hence NOT Mr. Wonka, also I was being lazy, because then I'd have to mtf with mtf then also ftm with ftm, then I'd have to include non gender binary, lizard people, and everyone in between, et cetera et cetera. I don't discriminate, I just didn't want to be TOO pc in a lighthearted conversation.
@notMrWonka, I would argue that you are still placing them as different than as same or equal. What's the harm in calling a union between two men "marriage." Why does it have to be considered different? Also, words are prone to changing of definitions. Gay use to mean happy but that has changed to mean homosexual as well. Also the problem with civil union and marriage is that while homosexuals could get civil unions, they were also exempt from certain laws in certain states that applied to a marriage (adoption of a child for example). I don't know what the laws are right now, but some of these laws still discriminated after the gay marriage acceptance law.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , that's not a homophobic sentiment you twat. It's an opinion from another person, it does not harm anyone, I'm sure the guy that believes that way isn't out purging gays, he just has an opinion that actually makes sense. If you find it offensive good on you. Your opinion won. But don't call that homophobic just because it doesn't agree with you. That is the least intelligent way to try to show someone they are wrong, labeling them something like that.
@notMrWonka, why do you not want it called marriage? What does it matter if it's called marriage. You know as time goes on definitions for words change and new words are added. Being unable to handle changes to a written and spoken language just means you're getting old. People change the meaning of words all the time. Teens especially use new words to express if something is cool or not. If it doesn't affect you, and no one forcing you to do it. What does it matter what other people do. I view it like this. I don't like people telling me how to live my life. So why would you want to tell them how to live their's.
It's just a word. It having a wider definition doesn't affect you in any way unless you let yourself be consumed by an ego set in it's ways. Once you just let it be you'll see that the only person hurting you with the more simple definition is yourself.
Marriage is between two people. Simple as that.
@notMrWonka, The real question is though why do people spend so much time fighting against gay marriage when there are starving children in the world homeless people and other real problems of people suffering. Just imagine all the help they could give if they would quit wasting their time on trying to rule other peoples lives.
@notMrWonka, first, thanks for stating your opinion kindly and willing to hear out others. Secondly, I've heard this exact opinion too. My opinion is that a) I may be a democrat, but I think the government has no right to decide who can and can't get married. *note this doesn't include incest because that is scientifically damaging to any spawn of incest*. In fact I think we should cut back on governments role in divorce; love is love, and if they're not hurting anyone then it's not the governments position to restrict it.
B) this opinion that gay is fine but not marriage is in my opinion silly. Marriage = guy + girl is the way it has been for a long time. That's what it is. Right? Well, they used to call people witches and burn them at the steak for being lefties. Men used to work and women cook/clean. 'That's simply the definition, it's what it is' doesn't work because if history has taught us ANYTHING it's that people used to be horrible (now Slightly less stupid/judgmental)
@notMrWonka, I've always thought this too, as a Christian. If marriage is between a woman and a man, it doesn't mean we can't allow two guys to be together with the same tax rules, laws, and benefits and call it a different name. That would make everyone happy since it wouldn't be "ruining the sanctity of marriage".
But honestly I think they should be able to be married if anything, it doesn't affect me, and I just want everyone to be happy.
@StiffWood, If you don't want to be called a homophobe, just don't be one. Super simple stuff.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , I'm sure you're one of those people that try using that tactic with anyone you disagree with. Oh you don't think cops are pigs? Have you tried not being racist?! Oh you don't think sex reassignment surgery should be paid for by the government?! Transphobic. One of the most idiotic ways to try being right. Frankly i have gay friends and we disagree on it, actually some agree with me. But being homophobic woul mean i hated or feared them. Simply untrue
@notMrWonka, the only argument for calling it something different boils down to "it's our word, you can't have it."
Which is also untrue, as marriage has existed for longer than the bible has.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , he specifically stated that this wasn't his own opinion. He's playing Devil's Advocate, and you have poor reading skills.
@I Are Lebo, I was using "you" indirectly, but whatever makes you feel big
@StiffWood, If you're a racist transphobe then you're a racist transphobe, I mean, if you really have an issue with being those things then you would stop it. If you love being trash then say it with your chest and quit wasting others' time, not that hard.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , you are either on all levels including physically retarded. Or a troll. Either way, nice bait mate.
@I Are Lebo, I'm a she, but thanks lol
@notMrWonka, right. Sorry. 👍🏻
@KeKesUHaulFacility , Funny that you are telling people to stop being trash when you are the one with the trashy attitude. Being polite. Super simple stuff.
@Captain TR8R, The difference is I know I have a bad attitude and I don't claim to have a good one. Nobody has to spend time and energy figuring out what's wrong, it's all right there.
@notMrWonka, kinda want to thank you for starting this discussion it's awesome. Personally I support gay marriage, as has been mentioned terms change and so I don't see why it really needs a different name. Additionally, Christians recognize the marriage of Jews, Muslims, and buddhists. They have different beliefs and ceremonies but those marriages are still seen as valid. I feel that I have no power to intercede in the actions of two willing people that will not cause harm to other people. That said, churches should not be pressured into facilitating marriages contrary to their faith. I would like to add something though... seeing too guys making out makes me uncomfortable. One of my top three best friends is gay. He's awesome. But I still think it's a little icky when I see him kiss his boyfriend. Not proud of it but I'm a product of a certain society. It's not easy to simply choose how you feel. What's important is to rise above feelings and try and be good and just to one another.
@notMrWonka, that's kinda similar to being a white person and meeting a black person but refusing to call them a 'human' because they already exist and it'd get confusing after a while.
As in, in theory it might work but in practice OH GOD NO. In my example you'd be saying that black people are not people, in your one you'd still be not letting gay people get married. They could get flagoopajoob'd, but not join in on a love-based union ceremony- they can only get the 'parody', like Coke vs Cola.
(Long post, here's a pineapple🍍)
@notMrWonka, and I do understand that your comment isn't you, it's just what you've heard, but I'm debating against the comment and not the commenter😊
@KeKesUHaulFacility , well at least you're self aware. But if you know people couldn't care less about what you have to say because you come across as a troll and a fool, I have to wonder why you keep trying.
@Captain TR8R, Because some people do agree with what I say. For every 30 people saying racism is black people's fault, and trans people are crazy, and idek whatever other nonsense there's like 3 that agree. And idk maybe those 3 will feel more confident in their non-trashness and speak up.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , not claiming to have a good attitude doesn't excuse you from the consequences of having a bad attitude. For example, not being respected.
@Fantabulous Toaster, I wish I could upvote you twice for that.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , also, what are you talking about?!
"For every 30 people saying racism is black people's fault, there's like 3 that agree"
Nobody says racism is the fault of black people! Nobody that's intelligent enough to matter, anyway!
That's a ridiculous thing you commented.
@I Are Lebo, upvoting me once suffices 😊👍
@I Are Lebo, Oh, but they do. Plenty of people are under the impression that racism is caused by black people discussing the effects of systemic racism. Even more people believe it's caused by black people being inherently violent and amoral even though we were purposely placed in a socioeconomic situation that breeds violence. And the thing about systemic racism is, it doesn't matter how smart or dumb a racist is, the wheels are gonna keep turning regardless. Also, it's not hard to pretend to have a good attitude when I need to, it's easy to trick people into thinking you're respectable for however long is necessary.
@notMrWonka, giving homosexual marriages a different name would, in definition, be segregation.
@notMrWonka, my only concern about calling non-heterosexual marriages something different is that it could turn into another "separate but equal" situation
"What? Gays can get married? That's against my religion! What's next? Dog marriage? This is outrageous! We'll have people wanting to marry dogs and cats next!"
Goes home and lays in bed with a corpse he stole from the grave yard three blocks away."Now where were we? Oh wait... I remember." As he moves down her body his dog comes in the room and licks his behind."You can join if you like." He says to his dog who proceeds to lie on the bed and lick the womans face while he licked her lips.
"What the hell type of zombie do uou think i am!"she roared."I told you, i don't do animals! Get off me!" He emerges from under the covers with part of her hanging from his lips. She storms out leaving the man with his dog.
As he crawls up next to his dog he whispers into her ear."Soon we'll be able to be together my sweet. Just as soon as i can convince them that dog marriage is a wonderous thing. Goodnight." He kisses her and rolls over, leaving her unsatisfied, as he falls asleep she licks herself.
@Soujadog4, please tell me you didn't create and write that down just for this pic...
@JerryThePlatypus, the shock of others has inspired me to both create, write and say things far worse than this. I decided it needed a little custom creepiness for this picture. So yes, i did:)
@Soujadog4, one helluva imagination you got there and I appreciate that dedication 👍🏼
@JerryThePlatypus, thank you good platypus, I shall include your kind in my next story.
@Soujadog4, I await your tale of intrigue with eagerness 😎
@Soujadog4, I imagine gay dog monogamous marriage rights are passing through Supreme Court right now, in fact
Is marriage real? Is it something that exists beyond social convention? Or is it a legal and social fiction? If it's the former, then it can't be changed. If it's the latter, then who the hell cares?
Well this is a few years late
@Sexy Homunculus, what are you talking about? People are still bitching about it constantly and it's still not allowed in huge chunks on the country.
The issue isn't 100% solved yet.
@I Are Lebo, I don't really see how it's possible to vote against against gay marriage since the Supreme Court legalized it last year. But yea there are still plenty of people who are upset about that
@Sexy Homunculus, I cannot respect anyone who is against gay marriage. There is literally no reasonable argument against it.
Christians did not invent marriage. It is not theirs to deny to others.
Same sex marriages do not impact other people's lives in any way. They need to just mind their own business.
@Sexy Homunculus, also, state law versus federal law. For some retarded reason, state law seems to overrule federal law within that state.
Which makes zero sense to me.
That's why there are states where abortion is legal is theory, but impossible to actually attain.
