Not to talk away from him... but shouldn't the directors get the credit? I mean replace any actor in the film with him and would they still get the credit?
@TheSecretSavage, to a degree, yes, but you also need a lead actor that's good enough that everyone, especially the other actors, who you'd assume would be better at picking out other acting, think that it's all real. Unless your lead man can convincingly do the whole thing perfectly you'll only just get confusion from the other actors
@TheSecretSavage, depends if the actor is good but yeah the directors should get some credit too
@TheSecretSavage, Some of those moments were Gene's idea.
@TheSecretSavage, I read that Gene himself insisted on not meeting anyone and doing the cane/tumble routine and that was the only way he would accept the part. So credit goes all to Gene. The rest should go to the director.
@fettman1138, yeah and when the director asked why, he said it was so that the children would never know if he was telling the truth throughout the movie.
Rip Gene Wilder
@CannibalHannibal, he is and will be missed.
And it's reasons like this that the remake with johnny depp sucked. Not the only reason of course...
@Cloverleaf, I don't think it sucked, but this one was much better.
Imagine this directors tactics being used for the Human Centipede.
@SirLordKraftDinner, I try not to imagine anything about that movie
@SirLordKraftDinner, Any horror film at that point. Just imagine you tell the actors they're doing a comedy, then in the middle of a scene in comes the Blair Witch or something.
@SirLordKraftDinner, or Schindler's list
Thats the most awesome thing in the universe of anything.
Terrifying movie, stuff of nightmares
