@Barnacle MAN, Color testing tools also tell me that orange is part blue. The problem with that approach is that it tackles the pixels, not the pigments.

@Barnacle MAN, a buddy of mine and myself are filmmakers and he specifically works with lighting and color correction and he claims its white and gold while testing it with various color correcting softwares but I think he is crazy and your sister is right I see blue and black!

@Football, It was already confirmed that it was blue and black. It was the lighting in the picture that messed with our heads. It's gold and white when the colors are inverted, which proves that it's blue and black. Not only that, but they found the website that sells the dress, and an image of the woman wearing the dress in this very picture in a different lighting-- both pictures show show it correctly as blue and black.

My teacher actually proved it's just the contrast in the picture and how we can't actually tell for sure what color it is just in the pic. It could be orange and green for all we know. But he proved there is NO black in the picture at all.

It's due to the condition of cones in your eyes. Generally, people with higher functioning cones see black and blue. People see white and gold due to your brain compensating for the lower functioning cones. I saw white and gold at first but when I looked at it from an extreme angle (looking up as far as I can with my eyes at the picture) the gold turns to black and the white turns to blue.
