Welp youve convinced me, time to get my vaccine passport so i can actually live my life
@Guy Fawkes, you think they’ll give up their power over us?! I got some prime real estate in Florida for you!
@Hot Coffee, “power over us”.
Evil federal government politician, connivingly rubbing hands together: “Muahahaha, we finally have those plebeians exactly where we want them!”
Slightly less evil, braindead cohort: “Duuuhhh.... and where’s that Jimmy?”
“At home being useless of course! Now we can finally realize our dreams of giving them lots of government money just so they can pay their bills!”
“Duuuhhh... I dunno Jimmy how does that help us again?”
“You idiot! I mean, I’m still working on Step 3, but I promise you Step 4 is MASSIVE PROFIT!”
@Scuzzinator, not sure what you’re trying to say, but if you think the masks and the lockdowns aren’t driven by ego and power trips right now, I question your assumptions on human nature.
@Hot Coffee, nah, I really don’t. You can question my assumptions all you want. I question yours too. And I’m glad we have diversity of opinions here!
What I am saying is that the government has nothing to gain by continuing the lockdown post-pandemic. So I wouldn’t exactly call it an unreasonable opinion to expect conditions to return to normal once it’s safe to do so.
@Scuzzinator, sure, the government has nothing to gain. But the people running the government have all sorts of tangible and intangible benefits. You do remember that it’s people that perform the functions of government right? It isn’t a machine that does what it is programmed to do. What makes you think that government employees are more virtuous than everyone else?
@Scuzzinator, who determines when it’s safe?
@Scuzzinator, why do you think there will be an end to this pandemic?
@Hot Coffee, honestly man, I feel like you’re ramping up for a political debate that I just don’t see any point in having. I doubt I would ever convince you, and even if I did, what do I gain by doing so? I’d rather just say wait and see man. One of us will be proven right by the end of this year. So just chill and enjoy the show till then.
@Scuzzinator, you’re not wrong about the debate. I hope I’m wrong. As far as what would be gained if you won: nothing. If I managed to convince you, we’d be one step closer to not being locked down in perpetuity. One less person with blind faith in the people in charge would be a good thing.
But be a passive uncritical consumer if that’s your preference.
@Hot Coffee, lol you make some bold and unfounded assumptions about me. Just cause I have no desire to engage in pointless political debates on what is supposed to be a meme app doesn’t mean I don’t have a damn good understanding of government. You also probably shouldn’t assume that just because someone disagrees with your point of view that they are passive or uncritical.
Never forget that you may very well be the one who is wrong. There’s nothing wrong with having different opinions, but you do start to go down the wrong path when you assume that all other opinions are illegitimate.
Put another way, as the very wise Ice Cube once said, check yoself before you wreck yoself.
What are the consequences of me being wrong? Go ahead, enumerate the myriad disastrous sequela that follows my opinions being incorrect.
If you haven’t the ability, let me prime the pump with a few of the many train wrecks that me being wrong would entail:
1. We can trust gov officials and the people they seek advice from. (This is probably the most terrible one)
2. We can rest easy knowing that the established news sources have the public’s best interests in mind and aren’t driven by greed or broken ideology. (Definitely a close second)
3. The worlds economy, hundreds of thousands of lives broken by depression, suicide, alcohol and drug abuse as people struggle to cope with having their lives ripped away for more than a year will have been worth it and a necessary sacrifice because the alternative was far worse!
Surely you can think of more as you’re so engaged and interested in public life. Show me how me being wrong will “wreck myself.”
I am just imagining two people staring eachother down while vigorously and aggressively masturbating at eachother.
i offer triple glazing now
Ok ok I see how this might be an issue, I will take all three glazing and we can call it a day.
I was gonna upvote but it’s at 69 so I’m conflicted
Seriously though, isn't glaze a little on the warm side?
