Actually it was the tree that was forbidden, it is never stated that the tree was in any way any unique type. There could have been 100s like it, but that one was set aside as being special and forbidden.

@Tickle me Sunshine, In the case of an apple, the "fruit" part is actually only the interior past the line you see in cross section. The rest of the edible bit is fused floral parts. So I would say even if someone was arguing that "fruits" are not plants for some reason, an apple would still be, because it's not all fruit.

@BigJohnson86, Well since all dieties where made by humans, originally as ways to explain the natural world around them, and then later as ways to unify and unite tribes into societies and civilizations and then as ways to maintain order and control within those societies and civilizations you could say that humans are just naturally coming to the end conclusion of realizing we where the gods all along. And that all gods where really just representations and manifestations of ourselves during a time when we couldn't explain the natural world and couldn't explain and face ourselves. But now we have no need for things like deities and commandments to unify us. Soon enough the whole world will either become egalitarian and we as a species will prosper OR we will revert back into a more primitive state and wipe ourselves out.
