@BeholdMrL, I know teen pregnancy isn't exactly a new thing. Most parental reactions tend to be "where did I go wrong? How did I miss the signs?" But my cousin's reaction was "my baby girl is going to be a mommy :)" The girl just turned 16 2 months ago. She has never been the best student anyway so she will most liekly drop out. It just makes me sad.

@Lucius the Luscious, no, but it does say that nothing has changed. There's this idea that all of the drugs, drinking and sex amongst teens is new, it's not. The only thing that has changed is how open we are about it. It used to be tabboo, done but never told. Now we talk about so we see it more. An example : there are two schools in my town. The one is known for drugs such as heroin, they call it heroin high. The school board there is open about the issue, the truth is, the drug issue was worse at my school, though the higher ups never admitted it. The school that was open about got the bad rep.

@Bradolf Pittler, the harm is that people DO get hurt. Not every time, but are you seriously telling me a drunk teenager has never hurt him/herself or someone else? Or what about teen pregnancy or STDs? There's nothing wrong with things like sex and drinking when they're done responsibly, but most teens do them very irresponsibly
This connects to me on an emotional level.
