Just some breathing room. I'm fine with 100 new Star Wars movies, just don't release them all within a year from each other.
I think Obi-Wan can still happen eventually. Disney just needs to get their act together and stop assuming that people will love whatever they put out as long as it has Star Wars attached to it and start producing movies with heart and story.
@Sir Borksalot , they said that they were still planning on doing the obi wan film. They put several projects on hold so they can focus on episode 9
@Sir Borksalot , but Solo was really good. TLJ was Ryan Johnson's fault.
@Sir Borksalot , or get rid of Kathleen Kennedy. Rumor was that she was almost fired.
@Sir Borksalot , I have to ask what on Earth the Obi Wan movie would be about we’ve seen him in everything that the character has to say from his time in the prequels to his missions in the clone wars after those he was stuck on Tatooine with Luke for 18 years then he died at Vader’s hands there’s nothing left to say
@eleven, I was actually thinking about this earlier today and you are absolutely right. Anything they try wouldn’t line up with any of the other movies even if they go before the prequels but it still wouldn’t work.
Pretty sure they boycotted Solo because of L3-37... at least that’s what I’ve seen.
@Toxia, either way it was dumb as sh!t
@TheScotsman, Maybe, but maybe the fans would have been More open to the movie had the fans not been attacked by lucasfilm for legitimate criticism of the story of TLJ
@Toxia true, but all that was achieved by boycotting solo was the death of a film people have been hoping for, as well as a very decent star wars movie doing much worse than it should have
@Toxia, L3-37 was satire. Very obviously satire.
@Toxia, okay, and I’ve seen that lucasfilm attacked fans parroted all over the place. I’ve looked it up, all I coukd find was lucasfilm people calling out trolls who were saying racist and sexist stuff. I would like a quote with context and a source.
@K1l, but we’re they actually being racist or sexist? Cause people have a tendency to use stuff like that as a defense for their poor writing/ham fisted politics.
@Toxia, Please just give me an example of them attacking fans with a quote and context
@K1l, Maybe she was, but that doesn’t mean that people aren’t sick of that kind of stuff to the point that they don’t even care if it’s satire or not. Honestly shouldn’t have been in it either way.
@Toxia, all I can find is when a couple of them were angry at the people who bullied the girl who played Rose and Daisy Ridley off of social media
@K1l, I still haven’t even seen any real proof for either of those, not saying there isn’t any, just never been able to find any in the least.
@Toxia, and then that one comic writer who said that he finds it ridiculous that people who call themselves “fans” want the franchise to fail.
@Toxia, im still waiting for you to provide sources of lucasfilm employees attackintn fans
@K1l, I don’t know of any, I’ve just heard that stuff like that has been going around.
@K1l, and since when have any of the fans said that they want the franchise to fail? All I’ve seen is people saying that it’s going to fail if lucasfilm keeps going the way they’ve been going with Star Wars.
@Toxia, Then you need to stop parroting what you hear. The claims being made against the lucasfilm employees is best put as “fake news”.
Example: katheleen kennedy was asked about having female leading roles. She said that Star Wars has primarily been targeted towards men and that some particular fans feel as if it “belongs” to them. She said she has a responsibility for star wars, she does not feel like she “owes” those men anything just because they were the main audience.
That has been twisted into “Kathleen Kennedy said she hates men”.
It’s not fair to state that lucasfilm attacks fans as a fact, especially when you haven’t even looked into it
@K1l, Yeah, I'm surprised by the hate L337 gets. She's just an affectionate parody of SJWs. She's one of my favorite new characters for how over-the-top she is.
@K1l, if Star Wars fans are sexist then why is Ashoka Tano, a female character, one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise? And the current movies haven’t exactly been painting men in a very positive light. As for my sources, they are various YouTube videos that caught my interest and no, I’m not subscribed to any of them; so I have no bias towards them. And you’re being a fücking hypocrite, calling me a parrot yet not citing any sources yourself.
@K1l, and the accusation of the fans being sexist comes from the criticism of Rey being a Mary Sue, which as someone who is studying writing in my free time, can confirm to be true.
@Toxia, i never said star wars fans are sexist. But there are SOME who are.
Rey isn’t any more of a mary sue than anakin and luke.
1. Luke was able to blow up the death star his first time flying in space.
2. Luke was able to take on Vader (one of the most powerful force users ever) after a couple days of training
3. Anakin was the best podracer ever at the age of 10 and the only human ever able to do it
4. Also at the age of 10 Anakin blew up a trade federation ship after accidentally going into space
Rey is written like a jedi - able to do incredible things without much explanation other than “the force”. Luke and especially Anakin were able to do crazy things without much training.
What’s “sexist” (sort of, it’s a strong word but you get my point) is complaining about Rey’s abilities but not Luke and Anakin’s abilities. People expect an explanation for Rey but not for the stuff Luke and Anakin could do, even though they’re all on par with each other.
@Toxia, And star wars is not portaying men in a bad light.
-Poe is the greatest pilot and Leia makes him the leader
-finn was brave enough to leave the first order and he tries to risk his life to save the rebellion
-luke turned back and saves the entire resistance single handed
-all the male protagonists were painted as brave and smart men who gave their lives to save the rebellion in rogue one
Im not calling you a parrot for not citing sources. Im calling you a parrot because you’re sayiny that lucasfilm is attacking it’s fans even though you just admitted that haven’t even looked into it yourself. You saw someone on the Internet say it and you just believed it and now you’re tellint others it’s a fact
@K1l, Anakin still had years of training before he actually got powerful in the force and Luke had a temporary burst of combat power due to him nearly giving in to the dark side during episode 6, he lost his first battle with Vader, who wasn’t even trying to kill him at the time. And as for the Death Star, all Luke did was curve the trajectory of a couple bullets, he didn’t guide them the whole time, which someone with little to no training could probably do. And Anakin and Luke weren’t depicted as perfect, one fell to the dark side and the other nearly fell to the dark side. So neither of them can really be called a Gary Stu.
Rey has flaws too:
-She refuses to let go of her past
-she is extremely naive. Even more so than Luke was
-She fell for Kylo’s obvious trick and got captured
-she was flat out wrong about Kylo
-she messed up while practicing with the lightsaber and almost killed the island workers
Also, a mary sue
-would’ve been able to beat Kylo in a two on one fight. Especially considering he was just shot with chewies blaster (established as a really powerful weapon).
-wouldn’t have fallen for kylo’s obvious trap
-wouldn’t have been so easily manipulated physically and mentally by snoke
-would’ve been stronger in the force than kylo, but she couldn’t win the tug of war with the lightsaber
@K1l, being naive, trusting, and wanting to know about your parents that you never knew are not character flaws. In fact, she’d have to actually have a character to have character flaws. One minute she’s a sassy bïtch and the next she’s kind and considerate.
@K1l, friend you also forgot to mention that with absolutely no lightsaber training AT ALL ZERO NON ZILCH she was able to beat Luke Skywalker of all people a fully trained Jedi master and defeat Snokes personal guard who are literally trained to kill Jedi. Anakin and Luke are at least shown to go through some form of training. Rey just demonstrates her godlike power and Luke just nopes out. I’d like to point out that even Yoda struggles to force lift large objects and he’s incredibly powerful. Yet Rey can lift a few ton of rocks that just so happen to be the same rocks stopping her friends from leaving (and a few minutes prior the first time ever using the Millenniums cannons she shoots down three tie fighters with one shot)
She’s such a blatant example of a Mary Sue it’s painful.
@sticky, They explained why she has so much power and how the force works in the last jedi.
Luke and Snoke said several times that there is always balance with the force. “Darkness rises and the light to meet it” In the force awakens and the last jedi, there were 3 main force users. Snoke, Rey and Kylo (luke was still cut off from the force ). As the only light side user, Rey had to be as powerful as Snoke and Kylo, she just had no clue how to use it, which is why she was able to use it, just not all that well. When snoke died, the only two main force users were Rey and Kylo (Luke was still shut off from the force), which is why they were perfectly matched during the lightsaber tug of war. Her reasoniny for power makes perfect sense. They didn’t just slap all this power on her without explaination.
Besides, Why can’t she be more powerful than yoda? Yoda is never said to be all powerful, he just has strong knowledge of the force. Kylo and Rey are the most powerful force users ever
@K1l, Daisy Ridley did nothing wrong, I like Rey. Rose was pointless and I was relieved when the character died, the girl in solo Emilia Clarke played IDK I didn't watch it but I'm assuming she's just the token strong female lead that Disney requires in all plots
@Medic135, rose didn’t die and I agree with you on here character. I mean, just wasn’t jar jar binks bad but she could’ve been written a lot better.
And as for Emilia Clarke’s character, she wasn’t the typical strong female lead. She wasn’t even in the movie all that much, but the part she played was interesting and there was a twist at the end that really intrigued me. If you don’t care about spoilers I’ll explain it to you if you want.
@K1l, she didn't die??? You just made TLJ somehow worse for me
Alternatively, could've made kenobi movie instead of solo
Fans: Obiwan! Darth Vader! Actual star wars lore!
Disney: Solo and hermit Luke?
Fans: what no
Disney: THEY CLEARLY WANT NOTHING
I like space trains and dumb teenage rebels who are good. But bad, but....good. Ah fück it we'll just rewrite half the script and do some reshoots. Nothing has to make any coherent sense and the laws and truths of thia reality dont have to laid out for us to understand and can just be tossed out like Big Ball Bombers in TLJ. Its a joke of a movie if it doesnt get how its own universe works. Hyperfuel? What?
Unpopular opinion: I have enjoyed every single Star Wars theatrically released movie. Tfa was a clone of new hope and I loved the nostalgia. TLJ had so many twists and unusual character turns I loved it too. Solo was a fun adventure movie and I loved it. Rogue one had so many great new characters so I loved it. Some are better than others but they’re all good
I liked Solo. I liked TLJ because Laura Dern is awesome.
@Not Enrique, I really hope you're being sarcastic
@Not Enrique, both films were good. Stupid obsessive fans just don’t know what they want and complain no matter what they get.
Tell me... Would you really want a Kenobi movie similar to Solo?
Shame on them, boycotting one movie because another in the franchise is terrible. They should see it and decide for themselves like me. They'd realise Solo is awful enough to be boycotted on it's own merits.
But I thought it was a very small minority of the fan base that didn't like TLJ how can they get solo to fail ?
@Droppaduse, there was a contingent of about 6,000 fans who banded together to give solo and TLJ low ratings on all the websites whether they saw it or not. Idiots to the nth degree.
Must restore the balance
