For you lil buggers out there that don't know...that's Tom the founder of MySpace. MySpace was like Facebook before Facebook existed. It was the first big social network. For everybody that joined, Tom was always your first friend. This made that picture iconic since everybody at the the time knew him as their first online "friend". And now you know 👍
@PippyPie, Its really weird looking at that picture and even weirder having to explain such a legendary part of internet history to the 12 year olds who probably never even heard of myspace. I feel old
@The Very Visible Man, I'm 23 so I am definitely aware of myspace but I never had one so I didn't know why the picture was special.
@Ruupasya, same here
@PippyPie, I unfriended him
@Ruupasya, 27 here. My MySpace profile was sick yo
@towelbot, And now you dispense towels?
@Ruupasya, I'm about to be 23 and had one. I'm pretty sure I was super young though. I got a Facebook when I was a freshman. It was still newer then
@PippyPie, then he moved to Australia 🇦🇺 and let MySpace go down hill
@Ruupasya, I'm 31 and never had a MySpace. I had Facebook in 2005 though--back when it was only college kids...yeah before parents and political posts. FB was great from like 05-08. I wouldn't dare post half the stuff now that I used to when it was just my college friends.
@PippyPie, I met my wife on MySpace - no tinder back in those days!
@PippyPie, I actually had facebook before I had myspace. I chatted with this girl from Australia and she told me about facebook. That was like 2005. And I got a myspace around 2006.
@Nellybert , awesome!
@PippyPie, Yeah, we bonded over a shared taste in music and love of hyperactively animated fairy backgrounds......
Or, I was searching through the site for hot women (before you kids judge - there was no tinder, Match, FB, Instagram, Snapchat or anything in those days, so MySpace was pretty much it for Internet 'dating') to hit on/creep over and by some freaky miracle ended up falling in love instead.
@Nellybert , no worries I used to do the same thing. Never met a wife tho!
@Nellybert , I met my best friend on MySpace.
@Ruupasya, yup same here
@PippyPie, I remember how people got offended if they weren't your top 5
Soon? I don't understand it now!
@An Everyday Penguin, must be too young for this app then.
@Cjko27, It is the founder of MySpace
@WaitWTF, I know. I was referring to the others. I got all my music from MySpace and put it on my Walmart special MP3 player that wasn't even a zune or iPod.
Tom the myspace guy!
At least you're always there for me, tom.
Myspace allowed you so much cool customization
Im depressed now
HA HA Ha ha I get it HA Ha Ha ha
@kdogzzs, (Jontron voice) .... Idontgetet
@The Internet Guy, MySpace?
Never understood it in the first place.
I thought MySpace was still around...
I miss MySpace Tom!
What is he doing now? Did he ever update that picture?
@Smurf309fs, and is this the profile pic of his facebook page now? Or did he never join facebook because it hurts too much? So many questions
Tom you've been replaced!
On my MySpace there was glittering sparkles left behind your mouse as a trail. Super annoying. Good times.
What about AIM though!?
Im that rare person who grew up in the myspace era but never actually had it myself. So i didnt get the reference until someone said "myspace" lol.
My husband and I meet on MySpace from 2 states away. Our kids will definitely know who this is.
MySpace was the new Friendster just like Facebook became the new MySpace. Or am I the only one who remembers Friendster??
im so old
