I liked and enjoyed The Last Jedi.
They really need to let the franchise breathe. No one's going to lose interest, it's fvcking Star Wars, but they will get annoyed if you try to release a new one every year, or in this case, within 6 FVCKING MONTHS OF THE LAST ONE. Same shjt's going to happen to the MCU if they're not careful, but at least that's more of a flexible franchise.
Update: now I'm even more pissed because Solo was actually pretty good, but I fear that the poor sales will make the powers-that-be assume that those sales are due to the movie itself rather than external factors.
Maybe we should slow down the Star Wars movies
Not likely. The successful boycott, which cost them about 250 mil and got some higher up people fired, will just prevent Obi Wan from having a secret gay lover. "like how they made ladies man Lando be pansexual" and apparently that's cannon now
The Last Jedi was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, but I thought Solo was pretty good
@vesrox, Dude I just saw it and I actually loved it. Still think they should've released it waaaay later in the year, but I loved it.
@vesrox, you must only watch good movies because if the last jedi is one of the worst, your movie catalogue is tiny. Unless you genuinely think it’s at the same level as Jaws 4, The Room and the emoji movie
@K1l, Excuse me, did you just imply that The Room is anything but perfect?
Alternative: given what they did to Han Solo and his origins do we really want to risk them handling a solo obi wan story?
@Sambob, I didn’t think there was anything particularly wrong with his origin, unless you’re complaining because it’s not the same as in the legends
@YUNoJump, while its not the same its pretty close, gives a few nods to it as well. It was still a better movie than people that havent seen it said it was.
@Mortimer Smith Sr, for me it was somewhat held down by the fact that I knew every character other than chewy, han and Lando was going to either turn evil or die, but otherwise i thought it was a pretty good movie. Doesn’t take any risks, but doesn’t fall into overused cliches too much either.
@YUNoJump, I will never forgive Disney for disregarding "Legends" and making up their own sub par stories
@YUNoJump, there certainly was a predictability to it. The worst thing about it to me was *SPOILERS* the dynamic between Han and Qi’ra (sp?) after they reunite. She was so distant and standoffish toward him, and his complete naïveté to her demeanor was complete bullshît, in my opinion. There was clearly something up with her the entire time. Aside from that, and this may require a second viewing to really declare, but it might be my favorite of the Disney backed films.
@Mortimer Smith Sr, I’m so happy for the way you put that, because probably 85% of the complaints about it are from people who haven’t seen it.
@Medic135, you only say they're sub par because you worship "Legends." You'll never be able to appreciate anything else ever if you keep doing so. When the original trilogy came out, people complained about them like we do for all the movies out now. Except people like them now.
Tl;Dr Don't get hung up on the past. You'll never move forward.
@Danger Noodle, nah
@Medic135, you do you.
@Danger Noodle, I grew up with legends. Those are the stories I imagined myself being a part of as a kid. Those are the characters and their stories I loved. To have them casually thrown away is disappointing. Disney's stories are worse. Not as developed or thought out. I agree with Medic. It's not that I'm stuck on the past. The stories are sub par compared to what already existed, mostly. Idont like what they have done with some of the characters. They just aren't as good. The new trilogy has been disappointing. Rogue One was good. Even though it differed from Legends.
@RogueKnight, I understand your point and it's valid. However, how is the new trilogy disappointing when it hasn't even been completed yet? And saying the story is worse is strictly an opinion that everyone is allowed to have.
@Danger Noodle, well, then I will amend my statement. So far, the new trilogy has been disappointing. And yes, I know what I said isan opinion. My opinion is all I was contributing to the conversation. I'm not saying people who are happy with them and are okay with legends being thrown out are wrong. I'm just providing my view point.
@RogueKnight, which I completely respect. I'm glad you said what you said because there are people who would blow up the planet for the sake of their opinion on Star Wars.
@Danger Noodle, I'm less "blow up a planet" and more "single reactor ignition" :-)
@Sambob, quick question what on Earth or Naboo if you prefer would the movie be about we’ve seen obi Wan throughout his life from the prequels to the clone wars cartoon to his death and being officially stuck on Tatooine to ensure he can keep an eye on Luke the only part of Obi Wan’s story left that could possibly be told is prephantom menace in which Obi would have to be played by a younger man to show anything else would wreck Disney’s timeline
Solo was a fricking great film if you go in there ready for a fun film. If you're ready to be highly critical about it like TLJ then you won't enjoy it because of your own fault (don't get me wrong. You can dislike a film, but if you go into it ready to criticize it then you've already ruined it for yourself)
For me it boils down thusly: until there is a star wars movie that is less enjoyable than a long ass book I won't complain. With ledgends han solos origin was a novel I'd have to read, it might take me three days to get through it if it was a book I really really loved. Now han solos origin is a pretty good two hour movie. I can dig it. That's my logic, and oh boy it sure feels nice not hating star wars and everyone who tries to express themselves through it.
I didn’t think Solo was bad. It took no risks but it didn’t really wreck anything. It also made another tie to the Clone Wars/Rebels series, which is neat.
When Your Meme Has Every Word Capitalized Like A Jaden Smith Tweet
Yeah but did they ever actually announce an Obi-Wan? I wouldn't hold my breath for one either way
@Medic135, I thought I remember it being announced last summer but I haven’t heard anything about it since and everyones acting like it isn’t happening. Im kinda confused
@K1l, Mandela effect
@Medic135, you’re probably right. I looked it up and it still seems like a really backed rumor instead of an announced thing.
You prove to the studio you won't go see any halfa$$ed pile of sh*t they release just because they slapped Star Wars into the title...
if that prevents disney from
making obi a trisexual superfluid demifurry for 'inclusiveness' reasons, then death befor dishonor
Just make it not bad. Problem solved.
Maybe itve done better at the box office if Emilia Clarke was advertised more...
I hated Last Jedi AND Solo. Agree or die.
Literally haven’t met anyone who’s actually seen it and didn’t like it
Edit: Solo I mean, TLJ sucked ass
