@Tickle me Sunshine, because often times, especially with firearms, a loophole is more an @ssholes excuse for his shjt behavior. Let's look at bump stocks. A standard semi automatic carbine rifle, be it the AR family, the M1 line, e.t.c will require modification in some capacity to get up to full auto. Some rifles it's filling a piece down, some it's deliberately jamming a foreign object into a hail in the receiver, but in all capacities, those are illegal modifications to the rifle because they alter the actual firing mechanism. A bump stock moves the loophole to the stock, bouncing the rifle between the trigger finger and the bump stock. Same full auto, but legal. Tldr; it's not only about the letter of the law, but also the spirit of it

@ Tobias Widower, Well, when you think about it, none of the "regulations" from the ATF, or Government in general are legal, so it doesn't matter. The Constitution doesn't allow for restrictions on our 2nd Ammendment, but they decided to ignore that, and restrict anyway. Also bump stocks are not even close to the same full auto. 1. It's very inaccurate 2. It's not as fast 3. It's not altering the firing mechanism, so it does not meet the requirements for full auto. It not only was 100% legal, but also it wasn't very good. If you could pull the trigger fast enough on your own to achieve a rapid rate of fire, that doesn't make it full auto, or illegal, even in the spirit of the law.
When you comply with the law and people get mad and say it's a loophole...
