Filippinos have a thing for eating unborn babies apparently.
Also, those Australian ones aren't scary at all compared to the real animals there
@Kangaroo Jacked, they’re not mythical; these monsters went extinct due to simple Darwinism.
@Kangaroo Jacked, I'm Filippino, there's a food where you boil a baby chicken before its hatched and you eat it. I've never eaten it but I've seen my grandparents treat it like a delicacy
@Kangaroo Jacked, *filipinos
@Ahnald Schwarsanagga, Balut is the dope man haha just have to get past it mentally
@everyman, I tried but I was so young haha, just couldn't do it
@Kangaroo Jacked, the water one is frightening to me, but I'm afraid of the water anyway
I bet I can take on a draugr with my thüm
@daily joke, *Thu’um
Some of these are pretty metal
Japan needs to calm the fvck down
@Baynality, Funny enough, the ones they showed off aren't nearly that bad compared to the rest. That country's mythology needs to calm the fvck down indeed.
@Baynality, don't worry, they only have about 10,000 more of those
@Baynality, a sentient roll of cotton... I think that says enough
@Medic135, If. I remember correctly, they believe that anything that has been around over 100 years can gain sentience. Could be a good thing, could be an evil thing.
@Baynality, They have a toilet paper monster. I think it's too late for them to calm down
I really like mythical creatures. I research them often in my spare time. Then I found out about the Nucklavee. You can’t hurt it. You can’t kill it. You can only run. Your only hope is to cross fresh running water, as it is a creature of rot and clean running water repels it. I had nightmares for a week. Then one showed up in RWBY (season 4). Man that freaked me out! That finale was 50x scarier since I knew what that monster was.
I call foul on the “drop bear”...it is clearly a story told so that the Australians can have a laugh at a tourist... “that’s right, you’ll be safe if you put forks in your hair”
“Or speaking in an Australian accent”
Sounds like the Drop Bear was invented to troll tourists, honestly.
@Ultimatum, it actually was
Needs more Celtic stuff.
Krampus from Germany:
Beast with the statue of a man but looks like a goat.
Puts naughty children in a sack on Christmas. He then brings them to his house in the woods were they are never Seen again.
As a child, this story was the reason I was nice the whole time
@Archduke Friedrich, How did you find the film?
@Sambob, meh, the Film was a bit inaccurate at times and also kinda cliche in Form of the actual Mythos about Krampus.
The horror sequences were quite good but again, doesn't portray Krampus right.
What confused me was that Krampus came only because of Oma. Like, only because there is a German grandma around means that Krampus is gonna come to snack some booty?
@Archduke Friedrich, Yeah not a solid horror film but I liked the ending though. (Spoilers for others) do you think he’s watching them through the snow globe or that they’re trapped in there?
@Sambob, I think they are trapped in there. Would make sense, because they were basically trapped the whole time, because of the snowstorm, you know?
@Archduke Friedrich, I lived in Germany as a kid. Went to a local festival with a Krampus festival. “Krampus” was a guy in a mask with straw hair who jumped at kids. It was extremely cool! Lots of shoes full of oranges.
@Mistosa, as a kid, me and my family would always go to a Christmas market every year.
On one occasion, there was a man who rubbed coal over his hands and face to look like Krampus, so my grandma told me the story. I was scarred for life 👌
@Archduke Friedrich, 😅 sounds about right
I feel like gargoyle doesn't fit in
Anybody play Magic? I had no idea Ammut was a "real" thing (referring to Ammut Eternal, a creature from the Hour of Devastation set)
@The Puppet Man, Many of these guys have shown up in Magic :)
@Jdrawer, I must've missed the others
@The Puppet Man, Minotaurs and Gargoyles are subtypes, Banshees are Spirits, Nucklavee is a UR Beast, Kelpies are U/G, Ghouls show up, Redcaps are Goblins, Chupacabras are Horror Beasts introduced in Ixalan, Arachne shows up as a Human that creates a Spider token in Theros block, and I'm pretty sure the Graveborn are just Draugr.
@Jdrawer, oh I thought you meant more than one Ammut. I've seen the ones you're talking about.
@The Puppet Man, There's at least 2, IIRC. Baleful Ammit from Amonkhet predates the Eternal.
@Jdrawer, I forgot about him
@The Puppet Man, Easy to do 😣
Vesemir, get the silver sword.
What's up with the Philippines and unborn children
Still want a show about the investigation and hunting of creatures like these
@NinnyHammer, that was kind of what Supernatural was, but then it went off the deep end.
@Arthin, That's what got me into Supernatural at first. But then it just became the "Misadventures of Hot Bois and Friends".
Still kept watching though...
@Arthin, That show went so far off the deep end that it passed right over the pool.
@NinnyHammer, Mountain Monsters
Kamaitachi is what the Pokémon sneasel is based off of
@Patplunkett, really? That’s cool! Where did you hear that?
Is no one gonna mention the roll of toilet paper from Japan that suffocates people?
How does the Dullahan call out your name without any head?
There was a split second I thought the names were making a joke about the lyrics to circle of life from Lion King.
Everyone should have a healthy fear of Black Annis
*Drop Bear appears in distance.
*I attempt my best Australian accent*
Drop Bear: NOT GOOD ENOUGH
Drop bears are koalas vicious little assholes...
I just wrote an essay on Tahoe Tessie, the monster inside Lake Tahoe
Someone dress up as the detached head with dangling organs.
If you guys need me, I’ll be in the woods.
I think there was a typo here. It said "mythical" where it should be "nightmare".
Malaysia can suck my body parts anytime
Japan is messed up
Diao Si Gui is the most terrifying one to me. The Asian ones always seem to be the worst/scariest.
Japan is pretty fvkd up..
No, that's fine. I wasn't sleeping tonight anyway.
