"No parent should have to watch their child die"
@Quency200, "No parent should have to bury their child" ~ LOTR
@thedarkjester, He was strong in life. His spirit will find its way to the halls of your fathers.
@Quency200, well it's a robot so is it actually a person
@Quency200, Wouldn't they be more like sisters since her dad built her?
@Quency200, I can sadly relate this to way too many examples irl
I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING!
@Smo Queed, sorry I'll stop cutting the onions.... 😭

@Shentei Zei, If you need a pick me up, I can recommend "chris pratt outtakes". He's the human equivalent of a labrador pup! Hope this helps
Will self destruct in three minutes
I was sad, and as I read got slowly sadder because I knew what was coming.
Wait wait wait so the mom didn't die in child birth and the dad just built a mommy robot and they both ditched their kid this isn't heart breaking this is horrible.
*wipes tears* hm... this comic has triggered my sad water.

I don't get it - mom flatlines, but is still sitting up in bed smiling? So dad smothered her with a pillow or something? Then dad goes to massive trouble and expense to avoid having to spend any time with his daughter?
@Truthcat, You're still conscious for a couple of moments after your heart stops pumping blood, and the line on the EKG just shows heartrate. She was alive just long enough to see her newborn child. The father, faced with the prospect of having to raise a child by himself after the passing of his wife, and likely coming to terms with his own mortality because of it, builds a caretaker and programs her with the prime directive of looking after his child. The robotic caretaker is sentient, and develops emotional attachment to the child, basically becoming the mom she never had.
@Marida Cruz, but her blood pressure would be zero, so conscious or not, she wouldn't be sitting up. Clearly, dad pulled the plug on the ekg first, then killed her. He also seems pretty calm about her death - like a stranger would be. He stole this child and had no emotional investment in her so he built this caretaker to look after her until the ransom money arrived. This only makes financial sense if he built many; he may have abducted thousands of kids and killed thousands of moms. He just lost track of this one so she was never returned to her real family. The caretaker realized that she would now be "decommissioned" and suffered an existential crisis.
Further corroboration: "dad" couldn't be bothered to show up at the wedding or spend one minute with the victim of this elaborate, shocking crime.
@Truthcat, the monitor is for the baby. It just hasn't hit the next beat yet.
@Ewok612, but we know the baby is alive, so that would be a bit superfluous.
"HAHAHA! Now that my primary function has been completed, I have no parameters to prevent me from taking over the world!"
I'd watch the heck out of a short film like this.
This is very touching and all, but is anyone going to point out the gears doubling as a set of pulleys while they're touching? That would be impossible.
And then it goes crazy and creates a race of biological killing machines on another planet based off alien bio-weapon technology that was originally intended to kill all life on Earth.
The robot definitely "took care" of her at the end there.
This is from Pinterest.... I AM ASHAMED HOW DID SOMEONE GET THIS B4 ME?
Alternative darker version. The robot turns the girl into a cyborg abomination doing everything to fulfill its primary programming. Going far beyond what is ethical or humane. Eventually the girl is a husk of a human but Is technically alive.
Where the hell are my Heelies?!
I'm ugly crying right now
This was god damn beautiful... damn onion ninjas!
@Steven guy, yes, I still remember this list
