@JCtheWise, true but that was over 100 years ago when governments truly had no understanding of viruses we've come a long way since then. Plus there was the whole world war thing and people were very unhealthy anyway then. Smoking was considered healthy. Just saying maybe dont base the current reaction on something from so long ago.

@Runnin with scissors, those are good points and it's true that there are always times for change. However humans are inherently stupid and the government babying people has always led to governments devolving into fascism. Do I think the current measures are fascist? No. Do I think every fascist dictatorship has started with one step in this direction? Yes. A recent example would be Venezuela's sprint toward fascism. It starts with helping people and ends with the military firing on civilians.

@JCtheWise, do you know what public health officials said about the Spanish flu? “Nonessential meetings were to be prohibited. They [doctors] determined that saloons, dance halls, and cinemas should be closed and public funerals should be prohibited since they were unnecessary assemblies. Churches were allowed to remain open, but the committee believed that only the minimum services should be conducted and the intimacy reduced.” (Source: https://virus.stanford.edu/uda/fluresponse.html) Maybe if the government HAD enforced such rules, the 1918 influenza wouldn’t have been the deadliest pandemic in modern history. For an example of how reopening too soon can go wrong, look up the Philadelphia Liberty Loans parade.

@Kyroll, a good to be made by far, in your source. Nationalism was really high at that time, and the war effort was in the mind of the people. We just went on of 4 years Trump is worse then mega mecha hitler, 8%of the country want to burn it all down, and the medias hypocritical. All they complain about is the loss of trust in the media and goverment. Each of them complaining about it's Trumps falt. We're to polarized as a nation.

@JCtheWise, when all this first started I thought the same thing but then as time has gone on I don't think that way anymore as they are effecting everyone they come in contact with. My mom and I where cautious and we are pretty sure my mom ended up with coronavirous and I would also be a carrier without even knowing it had my mom not showed signs. If I'm a carrier I don't look like it but I could cause problems for a lot of other people which is not cool

@Kyroll, yes and papers went out informing people of these things. But many papers were written, even by doctors, saying that governments forcing people to follow these rules would be giving up rights that we might never get back. They informed people and let them decide how they want to handle their life. If I go to beach. The only people at the beach are other stupid people who are fine with getting it.
I've said it before. People have the right to be stupid. I disagree with many peoples actions but I will defend their right to do it.
