I’m not sure about most people’s opinions but the mother said she was fine with it and it wasn’t racist so it’s all fine by me.
@Siska the Khajiit, well yeah...she got paid
@Siska the Khajiit, Knowing the way kids are, there's a chance the kid himself chose the hoodie because he thought it was funny. Either way, this was likely unintentional. Even if H&M had racists running it, they would be intelligent enough to understand that this would be a PR nightmare. I'm pretty sure it was a mistake.
@SimonPetrikov, I definitely think so too. But it is one of those things that make you wonder if the kid was given a choice among their hoodies or if it was assigned. If it was the latter then you need to ask why no one seemed to double check for things that may come across as unintentionally racist.
@Robin the Tactician, It was a massive oversight. And it is unlikely that the kid was given a choice. It just bugs me how many people are treating this as a malevolent act instead of plain ignorance or stupidity. They're addressing the wrong problem.
@SimonPetrikov, oh definitely. I would say this is incredibly trivial compared to the dove soap add that seemed to mirror actually racist adds from the past. That was a pretty egregious oversight compared to this easily honest mistake.
@Siska the Khajiit, who gives a fuçk about race and monkeys.... Does no one else see how big his head is compared to his body!!
@The Trash Goblin, no- it's because of where she lives this isn't racially motivated. It makes more sense in context that where they are, monkey isn't a racially charged term.
@Robin the Tactician, the thing about "unintentional __________" is it is hard to spot. That is why it is unintentional.
@SimonPetrikov, are you viewing things from another person's perspective? That's illegal!
@Siska the Khajiit, or (And I haven't found the site to double check this) the kid is a model and is wearing just a green shirt, and they have digital editing to change what the kid is wearing so they use one model for several shirts.... in that case, it might really been a crappy chance and error.
@Donald Drumpf, But we're not at Berkeley.
@Siska the Khajiit, honestly people just want to know what the next witch-hunt on the internet will be so they can take sate their need for self righteousness and take it too far in the process
Kids are often referred to as monkeys... often cheeky little monkey.
Assuming this is because of his colour makes YOU the racist. In fact.. it'd be racist to specifically NOT cast a South African model.
@Shadow Storm, I am glad I had to go to comments to figure out the joke. Also, you are spot on.
@Shadow Storm, then idiots like The Weeknd and baby bron bron blow it even further out of proportion!! SMH
It's a kid, kids think monkeys are cool, gtf over yourselves and chill
*glances around worriedly*
@Sambob, *goes back*
*swipes left confidently*
This hoodie is offensive because "I'M" the coolest monkey in the jungle.
It's because black people have been called porch monkeys
Before this BS, I didn't know H&Ms existed...
@junkstarbuilds, I still don’t know they exist, for all I know this is Photoshop.
H&Ms in South Africa were ransacked because of this
Who cares if it's racist or not, it's still funny and that's all that matters... Or maybe I'm just a degenerate who knows
Are.... Are African Americans called monkeys in America? I don't get it.
@The Aussie, it's basically a stereotype here, in some parts of the country. But, as many have already pointed out, kids are called monkies all the time. Also, the kid, his mom, and the company H&M are Swedish, a country where, I believe, this stereotype doesn't exist.
The liberals and n1ggers angry about nothing
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 such funny in this pic stuck pixel.. thank God they stopped all the political posts
Y’all say it’s racist, but I don’t get it.
