Really? We're comparing hockey and soccer? That's new....
Hey I'll end this conversation right now. Steven stamkos in playoffs takes a puck to the face opens him up real bad, goes in gets stitches is still out in the third to finish the game. Also erik karlson takes a skate and severs his achilles tendon, season ending injury? Hell no he's back for the last handful of games in the 2013 season. Clint malarchuck, spelling may be wrong, a goalie gets his throat cut on a break away, trainer puts his fingers in clints neck to stop the bleeding and clint skates off. How dare you say soccer has worse injuries than hockey. I don't play hockey or soccer, but I do have the knowledge of both sports to come to the conclusion that hockey is one of the toughest sports out there. Not sorry for the long post, stop trying to defend soccer as one of the toughest sports, it's a finesse sport, you need to be quick to play and be conditioned. Again I'm not sorry for the long post I just can't believe how naive someone could be to say injuries in soccer are worse.
@GrillyDaCheese, thank you, everything you said was spot on and exactly true. Soccer is all about finesse and endurance and that's it
@GrillyDaCheese, Yeah hurt a bit, but it was no biggy......
@GrillyDaCheese, good man
@GrillyDaCheese, THANK YOU
@GrillyDaCheese, I'm not too sure who started this argument but I agree being a soccer fan but that's mainly because we don't have BLADES on our feet when we play and get into fist fights every 15 min.
@GrillyDaCheese, Don't forget Andrew Shaw! He took a puck to the face and missed barely five minutes of action.
@GrillyDaCheese, ...... marry me?
@GrillyDaCheese, mabey if us Canadians stopped fighting so much if wouldn't be as bad.
@GrillyDaCheese, we know you are
@GrillyDaCheese, sorry wrong pic I commented on my bad you're totally on point I agree
@GrillyDaCheese, Dion Phaneuf took a puck to the face and refused medical attention. He pushed the zebras away and skated back down to play point.
@GrillyDaCheese, Brayden Schenn got his stomach cut open by a skate and went on to score the game winning goal in OT
@GrillyDaCheese, Greg Campbell broke his leg and finished his shift.
@GrillyDaCheese, as a Canadian I can comfirm, soccer is for pussehs
Anyone here see the movie goon? If not,it is on Netflix and I highly recommend it.
@Erected Caterpillar , anyone seen Rudo Y Cursi? Its a soccer movie and I highly recommend it
@Erected Caterpillar , I love that movie!
@Erected Caterpillar , pick 69 it's hilarious!
@Erected Caterpillar , You make me not want to sleep with a bunch of other guys.
@Erected Caterpillar , *Russian accent* you mamas pu$$y so tight no way baby come out no way you adopted
@Erected Caterpillar , free dinnair sauce on me!!!
wtf is going on in the comments
I'm a fan of both sports (played soccer)so half of me is offended.
You can't blame the ones who'd rather not be blasted in their manhood
Tried to block one of Johnny Boychuk's shots, I won't be doing that again.
@Steven Stamkos, come back! The lightning (and my fantasy team) need you!
Beats a puck in the eye. *Ba dum tss*
Anyone notice that only pics of Hockey players being bad ass get posted? I'm gonna go ahead and call BIAS BIAS EVERYWHERE!
@Living Dildo, Probably because hockey is mostly just like that? Taking shots from pucks, fighting, brutal hits. There's not really much times where they're not doing something bad ass... Cmon bro use your head
@Living Dildo, that's because those are the only ones that exist.
@Living Dildo, rumour has it ice hockey was a sissy game too, like soccer, until one day chick Norris played it...
Fellow hockey players unite, and soccer players go put in your tampons
@Waldo The Striped, I'm pretty sure the hockey player didn't mean to stop the puck with his head while the soccer players are intentionally getting hit with the soccer ball to stop a goal without the use of pads or helmets or their arms except for protecting there body for that matter.
@Toothlessdiva, not hating I like both sports but comparing them I believe certain aspects in hockey are worse and the same with soccer.
@Waldo The Striped, kill yourself
@Toothlessdiva, actually yes he did intentionally stop the puck. The kings dude totally drove in front of Burrows to stop him for getting a good shot off cuz he knows Burrows is a god and would have totally scored.
@Toothlessdiva, it probably wasn't his first choice but he still blocked it like a man.
@American Taco, calm down bud.
@pyschedelic oysters, alright my bad, my bad but saying that I still believe both sports to be hard but as I said comparing them there are way to many differences
@Toothlessdiva, hockey players do something called "Sacrificing the body" which is to intentionally stand in front of the guy shooting the puck to help make a play or keep it from going in the net. I know for sure I'd rather get hit with a soccer ball with no padding than a puck. Pucks are frozen pieces of rubber that are being shot at 25-90 miles an hour. It hurts to get hit with a puck with gear on. So in conclusion hockeysoccer.
in football/soccer there's no helmets or pads (only shinguards), how is that a pussy sport?
@Hermoso Peralta, you have goalies 1v1 against strikers with only their body preventing a goal, you have worse injuries than hockey or American football, and there's also players who go through entire games with injuries
@Hermoso Peralta, you....i love you do you happen to live in texas??
@Hermoso Peralta, there's no helmets/pads in ballerina dancing either...i think you might be on to something
@Gotabeepfromkim, dude you're so funny. I bet you don't even play a sport and if you do you ride the bench
@Hermoso Peralta, austin? What town? Cuz i too live in austin
@BaconBait, really? thats cool, I technically live in Georgetown
@Hermoso Peralta, sweet i live in plugerville. Stay texan my friend.
@Hermoso Peralta, id rather get smashed in the head with a soccer ball than play hockey because I've seen those pucks and fights and sticks and they all do huge damage ive also been hit with a soccer ball in the face one right after the other and it didnt hurt so bad
@BaconBait, thats great, there's at least 2 Austinites on this app
@ConfusionDOTcom, yeah, I guess, I really understand the physical part of hockey, but neither is a pussy sport
@Hermoso Peralta, the balls are soft in soccer, I played goalie and I love the sport but it's not as rough as many other sports are. I got hit in the face with the ball(not sexually) all the time in games/practice and I never got taken out or injured but I've also played American football and I broke my leg in my third season. Soccer is a great sport but it's not exactly tough.
@Hermoso Peralta, because there's no real contact. I played soccer for 6 years, broke my nose and some fingers, a friend broke his ankle. Every sport has it's dangers. I have nothing against the sport, but the contact rules and how the professionals "take hits" is ridiculous.
@Aaappetheshaftr, the hits aren't an objective in the game (like in American football), but theres also the post, other players' cleats, etc.., every sport has their risks of injury
@Hermoso Peralta, because it's considered normal to pretend to be injured to get the other player a penalty. You get a penalty for that in hockey.
@Average Canadian, some bad apples ruin the batch, in soccer it's considered a foul but some refs can't distinguish
@Hermoso Peralta, fair enough but it's fairly common in soccer and if you do that in hockey, you get unsportsmanlike misconduct, talked about all day on sports center, and lose about every fan you have.
@Hermoso Peralta, soccer players don't need pads because it isn't a contact sport. And because soccer balls are inflated and hollow rather than the solid galvanized rubber pucks are made of. Those much softer soccer balls don't move nearly as fast as a puck does either. Soccer players can be great athletes, and the sport certainly requires a lot of skill, but it doesn't have even 1/10th the physicality and gladiator mentality of hockey. That's why us hockey players think you're pussies.
@Hermoso Peralta, whoa whoa whoa, let's set the record straight, hockey is a lot more physical and painful than soccer, sure they have helmets and pads, but it still hurts when you take solid frozen puck to the face, have you ever been skateing and some guy 60-80lbs heavier than you plaster you into the boards or ice, have you ever been in a hockey fight?, Yea I'd rather get hit with a soccer ball
@Hermoso Peralta, the reason we get pads is hockey pucks are harder... A lot harder... And we have blades on our feet... Ps hockey also is a full contact sport which is a reason for the pads. I'm not saying soccer is a pussy sport but at least give hockey some respect
@TheSmart4, I never disrespected hockey, I just said that soccer doesn't have pads or helmets and hockey does, I'll add to your argument that hockey has the boards separating the fans
@theycallmehd , theres a lot of contact in soccer, theres plenty of injuries in it, hockey probably has more contact but soccer does have contact
@Hermoso Peralta, like Daniel Tosh once said,"Soccer is only interesting if the stands fall and half of Brazil dies."
@Hermoso Peralta, because you don't into people at 50mph
@Hermoso Peralta, the fact you're saying there are worse injuries in soccer over hockey is ridiculously stupid. A hockey puck, which is a solid hardened piece of rubber is shot around 100 mph. That thing can find any gap in padding and leaves ridiculous injuries on impact, I've been hit in the shin by a soft shot by a kid and it swelled to the size of something a little larger than a golf ball, and that's a ridiculously minor injury compared to the sh!t I've seen
@Aaappetheshaftr, Soccer is ridiculous in Iowa. If you haven't broken either someone else's ankle or your own, then you were a bench warmer. We actually look at the rule book, just to see how much brutality we can get away with without getting carded.
@Hermoso Peralta, please do your goalies get their throats cut open by skates nope didn't think so the injuries in soccer aren't bad and in hockey and American football I can name people that have broken their necks during a game
@Hermoso Peralta, lmfao you can't be serious
@Jeff Spicoli, many soccer players have broken or dislocated their legs or arms, have bones pop out, etc...
@Random Watermelon , so can I in soccer, I've seen many pros dislocate, break, even have bones pop out, I've seen some get their d
faces kicked, and the metal cleats can leave some bad cuts too
@Random Watermelon , Except there was a goalie who got his throat cut open by skates. His first instinct was to calmly cover his throat and skate off the ice so his mother didn't worry. He almost died and is the reason goalie masks now cover up the throat.
@Hermoso Peralta, because helmets might mess up their hair! also, who the f^ck wears a helmet to kick an inflatable ball around a pitch? a hockey puck to the head at the force displayed in the sport can kill. do the math you muppet.
@Hermoso Peralta, hockey players rip teeth feom their mouth, stitched up and back in rotation, and when someone touches them they dont take a dive.. soccer also has pain ans injury, I wouldnt want to fight one from either sport, but hockey is more brutal then soccer
@Aperture Employee, yup and that's why I have to where a Kevlar throat guard to play high school hockey in New Jersey
@Hermoso Peralta, but nothing life threatening
@Hermoso Peralta, Because the fans of soccer are in more danger than the players.
Yay first upload
@zak550, *starts slow clap*
I would much rather take a puck or soccer ball in the nuts, than have a 250lb linebacker lay me out
@Anass Rhammer, you clearly haven't been hit by a puck.
@Anass Rhammer, not trying to be a d!ck, but getting laid out in football usually doesn't hurt that bad. It's very startling and sometimes the wind is knocked out of you, but taking a puck to the nuts dude? You're f*cking crazy
@Shortround, not in the schlong. I dislocated my spine playing football last year, needed surgery and 6 months of physio, that's why I said it. I wasn't trying to be a dick, just coming from experience
@Anass Rhammer, with all the pads getting hit by a line backer the damage is reduced to average 15-20% of the physical power of the hit
@DrSussidi, given that it's a clean pad-to-pad hit
@Anass Rhammer, idk weve had some rough pickup games, that result in broken bodys a little roighee then nfl id say.. but inall..basket ball is the easiest, on the body, sport. Yes it takes skill, but u get a cramp ur out for a few games
And that's the kings, the pussy of the nhl

Well, look at the hockey players padding, and look at the soccer players...
Okay, I play both of these sports and I've done similar things in both pictures. Hockey players have alot more padding than soccer players which lets you take more of an impact. That being said, injuries happen more and are more serious in hockey. But soccer injuries should not be laughed at, they hurt really bad too.
Lets be fair in hockey you have equipment to protect you from pucks in soccer you have nothing and those players can destroy a ball.. As a player of both hockey and soccer i can say i would rather be hit by a puck then a soccer ball in the nuts
I'd take a puck to the face over a soccer ball to my groin
@nothingofimport, no you wouldn't want that, you could go blind
@nothingofimport, Last season Crosby took a deflected shot to the face,lost several teeth and he had a mouth guard in. Marc Stahl also took a puck to the face. Had a concussion and was out for a few weeks. You never want to take a puck to the face.
Soccer is still the most popular it's about skill
@Creepy old grandpa, so is pop music, doesn't mean it's better just because more people like it
Most expensive wall ever.
Soccer balls are 15x the size of pucks and they might hit more softly but look scarier coming at you because of their size
@Prince super Vegeta , I'm willing to wager you've never had a puck shot in your direction.
@Hermoso Peralta, you get hit by soccer ball and your skin turn red and maybe you get a bruise, in hockey, if you get hit by a puck, you get a giant bruise and you start bleeding and your back in the game in a few mins
