Fun fact: game Studios generally have some downtime a few months before release while the game is being polished for bugs and heavily marketed. So most DLC isn't actually "cut" from the game.
@Elbow Grease, The idea behind criticisms of DLC's such as this picture, in my opinion, isn't that game companies literally cut out segments of the game they already made priot to release to make $, but that often times DLCs that come out don't just add to the game. Instead, they make a game feel complete, and a game should be complete when it first gets released.
@Benjo786, I get that. I fvcking hate day one DLC too. Just wanted to share that the game companies aren't manically laughing on their way to the bank like the picture shows
@Benjo786, exactly. I'm for DLC because it's a good way for the developers to stay active with the game and release new and cool features for it.
But at the same time its easily abused. there are games where content is literally cut out. Like disk locked DLC is the biggest scam I've ever fkn seen. The content is literally on the disk and you pay a minimum of $15 USD for an unlock code. Also seeing dlc in the 30 and 40 dollar range is insane.
@Titaintium, fvcking Destiny
@Elbow Grease, unless it's by EA
@Elbow Grease, the Jimquisition has some excellent videos talking about the good and the bad of DLC. I highly recommend them.
@Elbow Grease, wish I could say that about destiny.
@The Colombian, exactly. I think destiny is pretty cool. But god damn Activision is doing some shady shjt with that game
@The Colombian, destiny didn't want to do that though, bungee really didn't want to make the first two dlc's dlc. EA actually made them take the stuff from the disk, and make it dlc. I don't discredit destiny for that. It's ea that can eat shjt and die.
@The Colombian, Except the fact that none of the dlc was on the disk and that the dlc that has been made has followed customer feedback quite well-- from adding in features and game modes that players asked for, to adjusting or simplifying mechanics (and currencies) that players felt were not working as they should be.
Destiny has a far better model for DLC than most games I have ever seen. Though, the king of DLC will always be Payday 2.
@Elbow Grease, Except they release buggy versions anyway to meet deadlines. Then put out patches and make us pay for DLC that should've been on the disc to begin with. Actual DLC should include story, not hats.
Ubisoft was hiding in the money, taking notes from EA.
My issue was when the dlc was on the disc and needed a code.
First b*tches! Haha! :D
Apart from Nintendo they actually do dlc right
@Groosenator, Firaxis does so too. Their games are top tier and the so called DLC they release are full blown expansion packs that just about double the game content. They did cost about as much or even more than the games themselves, but it made XCOM and Civ V pretty much completely new and amazing games
@Markiskerm777, 2 dislikes already? Damn, you fvcked up bug time, bud.
@Markiskerm777, oh boy
@Markiskerm777, that is not how we do things here son.
I remember when dlc was atleast decent, like ac2 dlc, it added to the story atleast to me
Respawn gave everyone a brand new Co op game mode on Titanfall then after the game was out for a year gave away all the maps
Excuse me... But do you have some of those.... *glances over shoulder* DLCs?
Only that type of dlc is evil, the ones that are purely add on are not
ea be like
