I'd do it
Actually, the wage gap is fake. It all came from a survey in which people were all asked how much they made, and the men got higher pay than women, but they asked people with different jobs in different positions, from a woman working at McDonalds, to a man as a senior director at a higher up corporate business.
@ThePurpleIndigo, are you telling me a degree in art isn't as valuable to an employer than a medical or engineering one? TRIGGERED
@ThePurpleIndigo, I've never understood that mindset in the first place. If a business could get away with paying their female employees less than they deserve, most companies would then pay ALL of their employees less.
@ThePurpleIndigo, another reason is because there's a good portion of women who leave the workforce to be a stay at home mom for a while. All that time away will hurt your salary when you re-enter the workforce a couple years or more down the road. And don't tell me that someone who has been away from work, granted for the right reasons, for 4-5 years should re-enter at the same salary I'm making with 4-5 years more experience. There are so many factors when it comes to salaries that it's not even fair to just look at two people in the same position and say with certainty that they should make the same amount. The team I'm on there's me and two women who report to one manager. I make more than both of them. But I've also been there for a year longer than the second highest paid person on my team. The one who makes the least actually started only a month after I did, but she's done the least amount to advance herself. So the new girl is now earning more money than her.
@WhatThaFrack, "art"=gender studies.
@ThePurpleIndigo, this has to be true because it's a comment on funny pics. #wakeupsheeple
@ThePurpleIndigo, the absolute worst part about all this is that ur 100% right, and a majority of people know this to be true. Yet, still, its the basis for every single one of feminists main arguments when it is literally common knowledge that its a myth, and not to mention AGAINST THE LAW.
@ThePurpleIndigo, when you account for professions and hours worked per year, the wage gap averages at a fraction of a percent. Basically non-existent.
@ThePurpleIndigo, In other words, women are payed less than men, but not for the same work and the same hours.
@The New Night Guard, they EARN less but are PAID equally
@ThePurpleIndigo, think about it from an economics stand point, if there was a wage gap (like the pic suggests) and employers knew they could pay women less, why would they ever employ men? Surely if I own a business such as a supermarket I'd only employ women since it would be cheaper right? The fact that people employ men at a supposed higher rate kinda proves that there isn't a wage gap
@ThePurpleIndigo, plus they don't know the difference between a wage gap and an earnings gap which states the generally women get less money because they choose to work less
@ThePurpleIndigo, it's fvcking bullsh!t. I used to be a server a few years ago and let me tell you, women make a sh!t ton more than men in tips.
@ThePurpleIndigo, yeah if you just look at one study, there have been multiple studies proving that there is a wage gap
Okay let's get real talk on here with this wage gap crap.... It's all a load of hogwash (pardon my french). On average, male to female wages are different with men higher, YES. But when you compare men and women in the same field, they make the same amount of money. The reason for the difference is the fields that men and women work in. Women dominate fields such as teaching and childcare as well as nursing, men however dominate the business and industrial trades sector, and the business and trades sectors offer more money. Women are just as capable of making the same amount of money as men, and there's no grand conspiracy against women to pay them less. If they want to make money, they can! But because a field is dominated by one gender or another doesn't make it sexist, and there's no such thing as a wage gap. *End Rant*
It does exist, but not because employers are being sexist. Many employers ask their interviewees how much they expect their salary to be and as long as it's within reason, they often get it. Women generally ask for less than men. Also every time a woman has a child she loses money. So ladies ask for more! And don't have kids
@notMrWonka, I mean we're conditioned to expect less and never be too assertive so it's actually quite difficult to overcome that mind block and actually request what you deserve. That sounds dumb to a lot of people, but standing up for yourself as a woman has a special kind of terror attached to it. At least in my experience, I've let people treat me like garbage just because I "don't want to be a bitch about it".
@notMrWonka, they don't "loose money" they make more in this country. Women who have a child not only get a "baby bonus" but they also get maternity pay.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , I'm a man and have the same problem. I don't think it's necessarily "conditioning"
@KeKesUHaulFacility , Um maybe you let people treat you like garbage, but most women I know aren't that weak. That's bullsjt that women are conditioned to not be assertive. Typical self victimizing attitude.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , I don't completely agree with you but I am also sincerely confused at why you are being downvoted
@Tyrellious, Well then your issue probably comes from a different source than mine then. I can say with much certainty that the expectation for girls is to be softer and less assertive overall, and that we do have that role forced on us.
@BigfootUnibrowMan, You can never really know how someone else is feeling, so honestly they could be just as scared as I am of the bitch label and they just hide it well because they don't want to be scared anymore. If they're not experiencing that at all then great for them, I'm obviously on a different path. A path that didn't ask about theirs by the way and is sick of your negative bullshjt.
@Slijkster, I've summoned the wrath of the dudebro gestapo, they must now all downvote me and against my will tell me stories of all the strong women they know who have never felt fear in their lives and are also super woman and can also make chocolate chip pancakes while looking super duper hot.
@SOPT RAIDEN, no they don't "loose money"... they lose money. And I don't mean "you had a kid, here's a pay cut" I mean women who have kids are more likely than their male counterparts to take time off passing up opportunities for promotions. I left my retail job after I had my daughter. Two years later I'm back in retail in the same position I was already in.
@notMrWonka, that's great that they gave you your job back! But depending on how much you make you will get more or less money from the government. If you're under 30k then you get 12k from the government but as you go up your numbers how down. That's why so many junkies have a kid or two don't work a day in their lives and end up with more money than a lot of working people
@KeKesUHaulFacility , that's really sexist. Congratulations. Listen I'm sorry if your family/society conditioned you, but many women actually don't feel this way. Societal conditioning has a much smaller impact on behavior than most people think
@notMrWonka, I support notMrWonka in the sense that my girlfriend (and apparently most women) do not negotiate like men typically do in an interview and therefore do not get paid less. It pays to say you want more. Always negotiate.
@Slijkster, Becuase blaming any personal issue you have (low self esteem, lack of willpower, even poor math skills) on "conditioning" is pathetic and pointless. Improve yourself, don't just sit there and blame the world.
@Tyrellious, Are you a woman?
@KeKesUHaulFacility , do I have to be? Do you only want to parley with a woman? Then maybe you can find a female psychologist/statistician to tell you the same thing I am
@Tyrellious, Or were you in any way raised/socialized to be a woman? Because if so, I'll talk about our differing perspectives. But otherwise I didn't fvcking ask. There were no questions present in my statement, don't come for me unless I send for you.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , that doesn't sound like the type of reply I'd expect from someone "conditioned to be less assertive". Now say sorry and go make Tyrellious a sandwich.
@Totrollornottotroll, What can I say? I'm working through it.
Press X to doubt
*hands him $11 and unzips*
@SuperSexySloth, hands her 11 dollars and tips her sign holder 3
IM TRIGGERED HER BLOWJOBS SHOULD ONLY COST 80 CENTS
@Swathed in Memes, where tf do you buy your blowjobs?? The ones I get cost $50!
@Dr Simon Acula, Truck stops in Jersey. That's my guess.
Perpetuating the myth of the wage gap.
Wage gap is fake
If it is custom for a man to buy everything for a female
wouldn't it make more sense for the male to make more money in the first place
Not my opinion just asking a question i would like someone to respond thanks ^~^
@m4x3240, never really thought about that, a good question, though not to say all think that way. My girlfriend, albeit is far from a feminist, actually wants to pay sometimes, and I usually don't let her because I want to treat her; so it can be looked at as a custom, but it can also be that sort of situation. But when applied to modern feminism it is certainly a question to be asked.
*waits for Fassbender*
I am a male, I have my first job, work part time, and I make $8.75 an hour. A new girl came in and makes over $9 an hour working full time. So clearly there is some kind of social injustice here. At least, according to the Internet there is.
I almost can't hold my political opinion that probably no one shares with me inside
He could blow me any day
Well he's got my business.
