The REAL problem people have is that for the amount of FE characters in smash, nearly half of them are echos
@Invalid User, exactly. I love Roy and Chrom, but while they have a few different attacks from Marth they are like 90 percent the same. 4 of 8 are Marth
@Invalid User, THAT is a valid point. I still say they grow a pair and give us Nils or Reyson.
@Invalid User, well yeah but we have Mario and Dr. Mario. And Peach and Daisy.
@18bluecat, Agreed, but look at how many mario characters AREN'T echos. Don't get me wrong, I feel that if galacta/dark meta knight could be alt skins, daisy could too. But if you look at FE, you have Marth, two Marth echos, Ike, an Ike echo, and then now 3 unique characters. And even then, Corin still feels same-y same, and Ike/Chrom aren't too much different from the Marths
@Invalid User, I mean... Ike kinda feels like a marth echo that hits harder... but then again I just always hated people with swords in smash
@day man ahhhhh, I dunno, people don't complain about Robin, Metaknight, Shulk, Mii Sword Fighter, Ganon, or the three Links (well, not for being sword fighters anyway). Plus, of brawlers, sword fighters, and magic/projectile users, sword fighters take up the lowest amount of characters in the game.
They hated him for telling them the truth.
The difference is Mario deserves those slots and there are fewer clones than fire emblems four marth variations
Seriously thought we were headed for a wiener joke
The problem people have is that Mario is a franchise loved all across the world, whereas Fire Emblem is only really popular in Japan. The people who are upset, are upset because they feel that the Japanese market is receiving preferential treatment. I’m not saying I agree, or disagree with that sentiment, but that’s what I believe the salt is about.
@DesignatedElfWhipper, in the past few years Fire Emblem has become a LOT more popular in the west and it's almost equal in popularity as in Japan. Japan is just a lot less vocal about being mad about Byleth, but they aren't too happy either.
Fire emblem characters are a lot of fun to play. I like that they have more in there. I would have preferred Claude, but then they probably would have added the other two house leaders.
@Raki Zaki, I think people would be alot happier if every fire emblem character didn't use a sword, at least Ike is a different kinda sword. I think a axe, spear or bow person would have been welcomed.
@Eeveelution, yeah, but Byleth will have an axe, bow, and spear. Robin is the most unique character because he has a sword and magic. But Ike is still my favorite. I like playing as Lucina too, but she just doesn’t have the power that I want from a swordsman.
@Raki Zaki, yeah but he only has them on special buttons, meaning he won't really feel to different to the other fighters for most of his attacks with the sword
Just drop the super Mario name and call it fire emblem: smash
@BearDaniels, 1) it's not called super Mario smash, 2) there are 12 mario characters...
Call it fire Mario emblem bros: melee smash!
@brathosan, I could only find 10 mario characters.
@no comprendo, but other than peach and daisy, they are all very different characters. The Mario's are similar but dont even share the same specials or type for neutral B. Get wrecked ness, dr mario drugs are physical.
@no comprendo, hes probably counting Donkey and Diddy Kong
I would have never guessed Skip Bayless played smash
@Littlechuckie, he’s a sports “analyst” on tv. Always says something completely irrational for attention.
